Water reducing potency?

Hey guys,

I read somewhere that running a vape through water (i.e. a water tool, bong etc) reduces the potency by absorbing some of the THC or something? I can't remember exactly what I read or where I found the source, but is there any truth to this?

There is some truth to that, but for me, the increased amount of THC that I can inhale and process due to the added moisture that water provides more than makes up for the small amount of THC lost by being passed through water.

Some of the vapor, which has as a component THC oil, condenses on the glass. Some folks let that build up, and then clean with alcohol. They keep reusing the alcohol over time to clean devices, etc, and then they "reclaim" it by evaporating the alcohol off. Most call it "reclaim".

Yeah, but I hate the taste of that stuff. To me, it's like the Solylent-Green of weed.

Using water allows you to increase the temperature and get more medicinal properties from your cannabis geared toward pain. Your flowers aren't as tasty vaporing through water. You lose some flavor.

THC is not water soluble. it does not bind to water. the vapor in a bubbler will collect and gather on the inner walls which is concentrated thc. just be sure not to drink your bubbler vapor water

A lot of guys are thinking water filtration reducing potency (look at uncle Vitolo, one great FC member!)), I think it's true....mainly cause the condensation...is it enough to feel the difference?....imo yes but not a lot. But vaping with a water tool is so fun and offer so large and ridiculous hits I can't resist to do it!

I have some favourite vapes for water filtration: VHW, Cloud+, E-Nano, Inhalaters, Lotus, NimbinVap... but most of my vapes are used dry.

IMO, vaping thru water slightly reduces THC/goodies, mostly from condensation.

The good news is that using WARM OR HOT WATER reduces this loss AND the warm/hot water also adds more moisture for a better feeling in throat and lungs. A win - win situation for warm water....

Condensation-- the cooler the water and glass, the more that condenses out.

IMO, the need to cool vapor is way way way less than need to moisturize it.

Personally I believe this to be a double edged sword, yes the flavour isn't as strong initially, but it stays for longer.

IMO it's because you loose goodies in the water, including terpenes, that then contribute to giving you longer lasting flavour when using a WT.

OK, it's subtle, but I noticed it and made this comment on another thread, straight Solo stem no WT, best flavour, goes after a few sucks, Solo with WTA and bong, not quite as tasty first few hits, but the flavour hangs around for a good few more lung fulls before dropping off.

So for me the fact the water strips some goodies is a positive flavour wise, and I'm still getting medicated, plus I don't reclaim as I PBW my glass, so I really don't mind at all.
