Washing screens with ISO

This is a pretty dumb question but I always felt too dumb to ask it.

I wash my screens off with ISO like normal to make them clean again. But I am concerned about how they are a bit slimy even if I rinse with a lot of water and soap afterwards.

What is the proper way.

It depends on what you want. If you want less residue try several rinses in fresh ISO. And very hot water with serious detergent (I recommend 'Powdered Brewery Wash' but dish washer detergent (not dish soap) is a good second choice here. Resin is tough to wash off.

I suggest you try flaming them (assuming they're SS). I save them until I have enough to make cleaning worth while then hold one by the edge in 'metal fingers' of some sort and torch 'em until they glow. The brush the ash off and go again.

I'm not sure there's a proper way as much as what works for you?

There really isn t a proper way.reclaiming works, torching is convenient.

My favourite way quick and easy with the Hi or any vape that can vape at concentrate temps

Take out the clogged screen, put in a fresh screen into you're stem and turn up the temps on you're vape to concentrate temps, maybe 220- 230 C.

Insert the dirty screen in to the newly screened stem and take a hot hit and hold on for that white knuckle ride:p

You need plenty of heat to flash vaporize what's on you're clogged screen,otherwise you won't feel it was worth the trouble.

getting the heat right will produce a monster of a cloud.

anything left at the end, torch till red and brush off when cool.

i use a small pliers or leatherman to hold the screen when I torch the screen red at the end.

One new screen and one happy exit:D

What I do with my nano screens is remove them, place the dirty screens in a glass. Fill to above the screens with iso and swirl the glass around for a few minutes. After this I take them out and brush any remaining particles out with my MFLB brush and then dip/swirl them in iso before setting them on a paper towel to dry. I do not rinse them with water as this only makes the drying process take longer and water evaporates less "completely" than iso in my opinion.

I have tried torching them as well but don't prefer this method because it makes the screens look oxidized which I don't really like

I torch mine with a torch lighter instead of a soft candle Flame and they come out shiny like new. They don't get all misshapen like they do with ISO and scrubbing or oxidized and stained like with a soft flame. Now screens last months and months longer then when i used to soak in ISO and brush or scrub the screen.

Burning screens is heresy in my parts. :puke: I'm trying to fuckcombustion, not re-intorduce it into my routine and possibly my vapor airpath. Plus ISO doesn't make the screen black(what is that carbon build up or just nasties from the bic flame?) I also find that burning screens makes them weaker and less likely to hold their shape. I also have never had any "slime" on any screen that I've soaked in ISO and rinsed under hot water?

If ISO and some gentle scrubbing(usually I just rub the screen between my fingers while it's soaked in ISO) does not clean your screens, then I think you either need to clean them more often so they don't get so gunked, or just drop some change and buy some new screens. I mean really, if you can't afford new screens then you may have bigger problems. :)
