Wait for cloud or make the LSV jump?

Good day all!

First time poster....long time vapor(er?) who just stumbled upon this site over the weekend. Whoa! Talk about tons of information! I've been looking to update my current arsenal of my old SSV (purchased around 2006) and my N02 from about a year ago. My wife loves the ease and functionality of the N02 and I tend to enjoy the brain-rocking from the SSV. The N02 works a peach and is so easy to use but I know I'm missing out from the SSV alone. The wife doesn't appreciate the ritual with the SSV or all the various "doo-dads" it needs (her words not mine).

Anyhoo, seeing all the wonderful feedback about the cloud started to make me drool! Portable enough, intense vapor, and an ingenious design! I got on the pre-order list immediately but I am concerned that it will be 2014 before I would receive an email. Good things come to those who wait but I tend to get inpatient and fidgety when I am waiting for something I really want!

That got me browsing around more seeing what else was out there. Then...BOOM! I find the LSV! Made by the same chaps who made the SSV and in a more portable/flexible design. The vapor tamer adapters look brilliant and I believe the wife would be on board for its overall small footprint.

So, vapor connoisseurs, would you say hold out with the N02 as a daily (and SSV on occasion) until the cloud arrives, or get the LSV and move on?

Cheers!

You have no way of knowing if or when you will ever get a cloud. Since they just started shipping the very first preorders this week, there could be hundreds ahead of you with no way of knowing when the preorders will finally get filled and we can start purchasing it "normally".

You can get the LSV delivered to your house by Friday (given stock and overnight shipping costs)

However, keep in mind the LSV is just the SSV in a smaller shell. Not going to be much difference in taste, efficiency, efficacy (which is much more important IMO than efficiency, which is the buzz word around these parts), etc. I sold my SSV and DBV after I got the LSV. It can do the job of both, and its more portable IMHO. So if you like you SSV, you should love the LSV. Check out the LSV thread for some good videos by NYC, Vito, myself, etc.

Enjoy the decision. Life is so tough when we have all these great vapes to use and debate about ;)

Oh, and log vapes are the coolest :ninja: ...

Really? I just peeked at some of the threads (CRZ and UD) and it looks interesting! Am I missing something awesome?

Uh oh, did we just create a new log convert? Nice.
Check out the threads in the general vape section that already compare the general aspects of the log vapes currently available. Some are posted below. Even though they may not be labeled as such, the threads all dissolve into log vape discussions. As do most things with the log vape community :)

And of course visit the CRZ, UD and HI threads. The UD and CRZ websites have some good porn if you don't want to search through all the threads. But they are definitely worth the read IMO.

There is a special bond between a vaporist and their log(s).

You make it sound dirty! Just saw the HI thread...might wait until you get the third log of your trinity to make a move. Thanks for all the info!

Wait!.....but yeah in the meantime get a log, they are great too but not really in the same realm as the Cloud or LSV

Ok I'm sold on a log! I figure by the time the cloud comes out I can always sell what I don't use. I'm torn between the UD and HI right now, with either, what's the best method of attaching a water pipe? I've seen some users go this route but I can't identify any adapter used.

Thanks again for swaying me to the log side!

Depends on the waterpipe basically, but there are adapters for sale for both GonG sizes that can be easily attached to tubing. 7thfloor has them for sale (you can find their products on other websites for sale as well) and I think Vapor Brothers makes the other one that's quite common too.

Here's a link to the 7thfloor adapter: click me

But if you have a 14,4mm GonG connection on your waterpipe you can stick most vapor tubes directly in to the downstem, I've cut a tapered end to my UD stems to make a better seal/fit because they are quite thick and won't fit otherwise.

Alan -who creates the HI- makes GonG tubes in 14,4 as well as 18,8mm that function as a stem and adapter at the same time, you can find a picture of those in the HI thread. I do think they are quite expensive though, at 30 bucks a piece.

OhTheAgony,
Hey Mister,

I debated between the UD and HI (I already own a PD) and ultimately decided on the HI for:

1)More versatility in tube options
2)Designed to work with variable voltage PS
3)Hotter top-end operating temperature

However, you can also go through the entire UD thread and you'll barely find anything that could be considered criticism. The CRZ has a legion of loyal followers too. Regardless of your decision, you'll get some of the best customer service you could possibly imagine, as all the log makers are stand-up guys that will prioritize your satisfaction well above their bottom line.

OK; I just edited my post in the other thread about the heater port sizes, it seems I was a little off about the ability of the UD to accept both stems as well. Instead of typing it out again let me just link you to the post I edited: click

Everyone, thanks again for all the info! Should I invest any time snooping for a PD? I saw one on eBay for relatively cheap. It seems of all the log types, he PD is he most hit or miss. I think either the UD or HI look like winners, with the HI getting the slight nod with the variable temp ability. It's good to have choices!

I would definitely not go for a PD at this point, especially not an older one with the risk of charred wood. I'd personally go for a CRZ instead if that's the kind of vape you want, or the HI or the UD if you want something with the ability to hit a little harder. I like all 3 of them, sometimes there are to many choices

hey yourself a heavyer hitting log for now imo man! i think the PD might disappoint you if you are after easy and big rips. (what the LSV and cloud are for!)

I emailed Alan about getting a unit, I hope to hear from him soon. Conserving some tree while still getting thick and tasty vapor sounds like a win win for me!
