Verdamper vaporizer

wait 30 minutes and see. it should be untouchable. are you palming the top for a boost?
Yes, I’ve tried covering the top. It’s been on for a couple hours. Neither method helps. The heater is hot to the touch but I can touch it with my bare hand for a long time so it isn’t super hot. Is it possible I didn’t connect the wires properly, or that I’m using an adapter that isn’t strong enough?

If you bought the adapter that goes with it, you should be fine. From the pictures I have seen it should go from the heating element to a black converter and then into the mains power.
Are you using your own converter?
Did you buy the whole kit or just the heater?

I’m not aware of an adapter that goes with it. The heater has a wire that splits into two at the end, which you screw in to a big black laptop-type battery box, which then plugs into the wall (via an EU to US adapter). I bought a full Verdamper Reizer kit.

I was talking about the laptop black box.
It should be fine because the adapter reduces the current to 12v I think.

Have you tried another outlet? Sounds dumb but it helps sometimes. I have read about it in other threads. May be worth a shot.

If that does not work then I would imagine there is an issue with the black box or there could be an intermittent connection causing it to heat and cool.

Otherwise an email to the supplier...

Thanks. Yeah, have tried two other outlets. Didn’t help. I’m also thinking it must be the box. Any chance it could be that the adapter isn’t “strong” (I know nothing about electricity - sorry) enough and I need a different one? I’ve emailed the supplier and will see what they say.

If you have a volt meter, check what the output of the black box is.

Just heard back from the company I purchased it from. They say since it runs on 220 volts and I’m in US (110 volts I assume), that I need a voltage adapter to step up my outlet’s output. Any other US owners have the same issue and is there any particular voltage adapter folks recommend?

Any adapater should do as long as it gives 12 V and 1 Amp. If you can touch the glass without severe burning, it's not hot enough, and if it gets hot at all, I would doubt there's anything wrong with the heating element.

Any updates?
How does it work for you?
Effects?
Smallest dose possible?

Still interested in owning one of these bad boys!
I REALLY love this thing. It doesn’t quite match the flavor of my Vapexhale Cloud Evo, but the sheer power of the thing is what makes it stand out. My Evo is a ballerina and the Verdamper is more like a stomp routine. You can easily fit an entire gram into the bowl, which will admittedly get close in flavor to the Evo. A dose as small as .1 gram has been fine for me too, but the flavor goes quickly with less flower. If you have easy and affordable access to flower and can afford it, I’d highly recommend the Verdamper. I saved a few bucks going with the Reizer (750 ML jar) version and am very happy with it (have tried a Deluxe and performance seems similar). Also, it was a bit of a hassle making this purchase from the US, and I had to figure out the voltage converter needs, but all pretty easy to figure out in the end, and I’d say well worth it.

This is a continuation of the threads located at the OG FC. Two threads for the same company will be merged as there is negligible differences between them.

The differences between the two vaporizers is just the type of glass that you prefer.
The first De Verdamper comes with a custom glass water tool that is quite large. Available in 2 sizes, large and small.
The newest version is called "The Traveller" and comes with a square glass water tool. Available in 2 sizes, large and small.
They have also released a variable power supply for adjustable temperatures.

The original Verdamper

This has been out for decades already! The maker started with a hot air gun in 1995 and he created the Verdamper afterwards after many developments.
Quite a popular vape over in Amsterdam in some coffee shops.

Small on the left and large on the right.

The new variable power supply.

Out of all the vaporizers I own and have tried, the Verdamper is the strongest vaporizer I have ever used.
However it does come with some negatives that I quickly discovered.

The bowl that is supplied with the vape is female on both sides. What this means is that you will most likely require an 18M to 18M adapter and then it starts to get very tall...
My workaround was to use the 18Mto18M as a bowl and now I can use the Verdamper to micro dose!

The other issue was that in order to have nice dense hits, you are required to cover the top hole with your hand. After being on for a while it gets really hot up there!
A spare grinder cap is now used as a cover to keep the air hotter!

THIS, was my first vaporiser. I, still have 3 of them . I started with the 'Steinel" heat gun. the 2 after that had the heating element in the glass tube.
It's the vape, I brought from holland to New Zealand. Soooo many here didn't know what vaporising was. the y'all loved it, and the people I still see nowadays since that time , are all hardcore vapers theirselfs now. (very pleasing to notice).
And I do absolutely agree on,"the hardest hitting vape",with a good 'nug' in the bowl you can make several people comatose.......LOL. :science:
The history of the verdamper is also quit interesting, for those in the 'know', The guy behind de verdamper is actually not the inventor of 'dampen'.
That was Eagle Bill, and I have had the honour to have a few sessions with him when I was still young.:myday:.

I love De Verdamper and have great memories of it from Amsterdam. Great vape and awesome times at La Tertulia , canal side heaven.
My travel buddy had never done cannabis so convinced him to try. After a couple hits on the mega Verdamper, I ask if he feels anything.

Looong pauses and he answers, “I don’t think I feel anything , giggle giggle giggle”
Right.

Great vape but kinda big for my home setup. I will always have fond memories of it , except returning it to La Tertulia counter....carrying it down their 80 degree stairs while freshly vaped.
To summarize: I love using someone else’s Verdamper.

@Lazylathe I agree with you on the downsides . Also this is not a big deal, but we got somewhat hot silicone in the path, and also it very easy for environmental dirt to enter the system, which imo is one of the reasons why the coil smells weird on heatup. I dont wanna bring old drama back, but there were actually two guys behind the Verdamper but their partnership fell apart and got a bit ugly . After that there were some reports about the glass quality dropped down, they started using thinner wall which resulted in more breaks. I've been told by user that own both the old and new model XL water system ,the difference is noticeable. On the other hand he mentions that prefers the performance of the newer heater better than the old one,but cannot tell what exactly changed.
Dont get me wrong i totally love the style and the feeling of XL system and i recommend to not go cheap and get the pressure valve model,it saves a ton of trouble with blowback. I wonder howmuch would it cost for some DHgate or any other glassblower to make one of really thick glass.
@Green Kiwi Haha so you are one of the OG vaporists then ! Respect to you buddy, wish i did hit it with Eagle Bill and the Verdamper guys !
Here is a picture of the valve model.

Here is a picture of the valve model.

The ones I have are fine thickness wise. Anything glass is fragile, so care has to be taken when using it.
It's not for everyone for sure.
My coil does not smell weird at any time so I attribute that to environmental issues of the owners, dust, pet dander/hair etc.
It always has that extremely slight metallic smell or a hair dryer but it does not affect the herbs flavor whatsoever!

Lets try and keep the old drama out of the New FC okay?
We can always go back to the past and read it, so let's start this place nice and clean!

@Lazylathe We were discussing the downsides,i agree with your impressions.
The heaters are the same..,but the glass on the water system got thinner. Seems like they changed the manufacturer at some point or something like that.
When you have that large volume of glass, certain thickness is essential otherwise it can crack just by handling it or disassembling it. I've been told the weakest spot is the joint where the mouthpiece sits. I am not talking about scenarios where you drop the glass.Whatever the thickness ,it would most likely break, but for example 9mm glass is a lot more durable than 3mm.
I have zero interest in the Verdampfer heater, for various reasons, but i am interested in the filtration system so i done my research, and i thought i share my impressions about old vs new glass and valve vs non-valve.
There are some reports of the heater smelling metalic, but in facts metals dont release smells, the things that come in contact with them do,so when you have an open top it happens to some extent. It is more noticeable with some than with others due to different environmental conditions as you mentioned.
As i stated i am do NOT want to bring any drama back, but in fact there isnt much about in the old FC thread, just a mention.I wanted to point out that they were two guys and now it is just one because Green Kiwi mentioned that he met the maker back in the days ,probably he meant Rupert.
They also seem to no longer sell them directly on their official site, there is just a link to the vaposhop.Hope they just passed distribution to them and also that they will stock spares for the future.

Planning on grabbing a VD with variable voltage. Has anyone in the US/Canada found a 12v VVPS that can interphase with the VD?

I'm thinking that if not, I may be able to use one of the laptop adapter plugs that allows interphasing with various 12v shapes.

The one from your VB should work. The heater is 4 ohm which means around 50w at 12.3v while it is rated up to 60 and there is also some slack that is not noted :D. I can juice it up to 85w.
If you look into aliexpress you will see that there is location in the search. There are US warehouses !
Look for 3-12v 5a (adjustable)power supply. This one looks like a good offer,but there might few bucks cheaper. US $7.91 28% OFF|Adjustable AC to DC 3V 12V 3V 24V 9V 24V Universal adapter with display screen voltage Regulated 3V 12V 24V power supply adatper|Lighting Transformers| - AliExpress
