Vaporizing with a flashlight

Was thinking about high power flashlights after reading a post from Egzoset. Then I found this video someone had posted over on GS. It is definitely possible and very effective. I can see a whole new style of portable vaporizers.

Flashlight Vaporizing

thats pretty cool, didnt know you could do that with a flashlight,

seems like it would be similar to a solar hit, where you use the magnifying glass and sunlight, seems more like combustion to me

Yet if he held the flashlight 3/4 of an inch farther away, it would be vaporizing.
Exactly! The temperature can be controlled by how close you get the light to the herb. Care must be taken to not combust, but this is the case with many vaporizers.

Wow, I've never seen a hit via flashlight. Even though he's combusting that bud, it's still a very cool idea. Who knows, maybe one day Maglite will be in the vaporizing business.

That is pretty neat. Having a handy flashlight/lighter at all times would be nice.

Can someone check if it's true that induction cooking is the most efficient way (in term of energy conversion efficiency) to heat food (or whatever...)?

Laser would work, i suppose; well i've seen some video on YouTube where a Quasi-Laser LED caused cannabis to vaporize, or smoke (?)... Hummm... I'm not too sure. N. B.: Vaporization starts as low as 55 C (131 F)...

Anyway, LASER? Really?... No way! I'm sorry!!! Not in such an application!...

So is that just a normal Mag light or a more powerfull one? I think this desrves some experimentation :ko:

cool, if that kind of aplication could be put into a smaller not too expensive thing, we could have a vaporizer-lighter, if it would be cheap enough such a thing could probably get more people into vaping

maybe you could also optimize the spectrum of the light to yield more heat(and less light, I vape a lot at night and such a bright flashlight would be annoying)
maybe infrared

djonkoman,
I feel as if the lotus wp adapter would be the perfect bowl to try to vape or maybe the glass bowl from the dbv

So im wondering, what kind of flashlight is that? What kind of flashlight can do this job?

Here is the information I posted under the Solo thread. This is probably a better place to discuss this subject anyhow.

The Wicked Lasers Torch flashlight. 100watt halogen lamp and 4100 lumens. That should get hot enough to vaporize. The cost is within the range of a vaporizer too. I can see some sort glass enclosure that holds the herb and you just shine the light through it. Maybe something that just connects to the flashlight.

Check the video here

You could actually use it with just about any glass bong / combustion system. Just adjust the distance from the bowl for temperature control. You may need to wear sunglasses while vaping though.
I understand it really eats the batteries too. Good thing they are rechargeable.

Maybe an infrared bulb can be fitted into this flashlight so it is not so hard on your eyes.

Did anyone happen to notice that I posted about the Wicked Lasers Torch back up there a ways? Provided a link and everything . . . :(

Edit: Actually TV I think they have an IR filter for it. But it is actually infrared that is doing the work here. Some people complain because the halogen lights emission of infrared can be considered as inefficiency when its visible light you are after.

the torch in the first post looks more like a mag lite than this wicked lasers one, I dont think they are the same one,

No that wasn't a Torch in the first video, it reminded me of it which is why I posted about it . . .

Perhaps if there were more participation in the Venus thread...

In case it's been forgotten for too long, the author of the Venus IS using a HOLOGEN lamp while he also intends to make his vaporizer portable - with batteries...

It may just be a custom-modded light in the mag-light body. They're actually fairly easy to make (flashlights are my other hobby--but I never considered vaping with them before!).

sorry but it was a torch ..in UK we call a flashlight a torch.

can you tell us how to mod a MagLite to this standard?

Ah I see the difference. You were referring to a torch while I was referring to "The Torch" from Wicked Lasers. I apologize for my confusion but my HerbalAire loaded with Skywalker may have had something to do with it. :ko:
