Vapor and smoke alarm?

So yea.. today I was puffin on my PD and I decided to show my brother that the vapor was indeed vapor, so I blew it into the smoke alarm in my room. Needless to say, the alarm went off right there and then. I was also really confused... how could the smoke alarm be going off if there was "no combustion" and only vapor? Anyways it has me wondering if what we are inhaling is in fact vapor or or just diluted smoke? What do you guys think.

Do they (smoke alarms) "see" particles or "smell" smoke? Put some rapidly boiling water (electric kettle) under the alarm and see what happens.......

There are different types of smoke detectors. The ionization type is more prone to false alarms from non smoke particles than is the optical type.

well with all due respect, you must understand that vapor is pretty much diluted smoke. Complete combustion isn't happening, but shit is still being released by buds...we call this vapor, but its still particulate matter, which is what smoke is, particulate matter..just takes a lot more vapor to harm you than smoke. Well, if youre vaping tobaccy that is, we all know the healing powers of the herb :D

I believe that there are particles in vapor, but they are not the result of combustion. From Wikipedia (It might be true):
"Vaporization is an alternative to smoking. Rather than burning the herb, which produces irritating, toxic, and carcinogenic by-products, a vaporizer heats the material in a partial vacuum so that the active compounds contained in the plant boil off into a vapor. No combustion occurs, so no smoke or taste of smoke is evident. The vapor ideally contains virtually zero particulate matter or tar, and significantly lower concentrations of noxious gases such as carbon monoxide.

The chemical composition is different. For example, you can vaporize at a temp low enough that no benzene (a carcinogen) is produced. If you stay at that temp, you won't be inhaling that compound no matter how much vapor you consume.

Some smoke detectors are so sensitive that they'll go off with almost any particulate matter.

I have college dorm experiences of new smoke alarms being set off by steam, dirt, and (this is my favorite) sawdust.

Anything thick and airborne can set one off.

Back in college i set off the fire alarm for my whole dorm from too much steam billowing into the room from the shower! Then I was told that the particular system in my school detected heat signatures more than smoke.

do you think the alarms in holiday inns NON SMOKING room would set off a vape if im careful with it in the washroom?

Not if you vape on the other side of the room you should be fine. It will take vapor going directly into it to set it off, if at all.

I am currently residing in a hotel for a temporary employment position I hold in the city, and I vape away all night long and there has never been a problem with my nonsmoking rooms fire alarm going off from the vapor, though I have set it off with toast and bacon.

supposedly you can also set them off by spraying deodorant on them. never tried it out myself tough

I got paid to kill people.
I have set of the alarm in my apartment with vaporizers before. My volcano has set it off, my vivape has set it off, and my MFLB has also set it off.

Ive vaped, and even smoked pot in non smoking rooms and never had any issues. I wouldnt pull the smoking stunt anymore, but i would certinally still vape.

the best options are,

- the exhaust system in the bathroom, unless there is a smoke detector in there.

- the window or balcony to your room.

- the other side of the room and obviously don't hotbox your whole room with the session :D
