I vape hash no lower than 220, and usually I'll just set it at 230 and leave it there. Works great and delivers tasty hits that go on and on and on......

In the last few months, I've vaped Maroc, Honey Moroccan, Afghani (hard hashes), domestic afghani (soft) and Blue Cheese/Jamaican bubble.

The hard and soft hashes worked very nicely. You could load them in the cyclone bowl and hit it for a long time.

The bubble hashes (very soft, pliable, sticky, not terribly cohesive) didn't work very well by themselves; I had to load it on top of some ground bud. This same stocky, disintegrating hash worked very well in the SSV (for comparison sake).

I guess it depends on the consistency of your hash.

Sorry can't be more specific.

sorry, I take every chance to plug the glass bong straws (or simple hot knifing even).

One or two little balls smaller than a pea, one hit from each will set most people up quite nicely. I find hash to be ok in regular vapes, but what I like about concentrates is that they're concentrated :) So I'd rather not stretch it out to be more like regular herb. It definitely will last, as these guys said, for many hits in the regular vape. Granted, they should be some pretty nice hits, but I'd still rather just take 2 hits, at least most of the time.

For regular vaping I don't change the temperature any from normal. I do usually put in some regular herb because I find the hash tends to really gum things up and maybe even obstruct airflow.

x2!!!!!!

bong straws for the win! you can get them so they will fit on either a 14 or 18mm joint. water filtration and all glass vapor path = tasty joy! there is no better way to deal with bubble imho. with the bong straws you always get to see it bubble!!! its very fun to watch!

It's the evolution of hot knives, you heat a glass "straw" that fits into your bong like a slide. Actually the straw and a paddle. mash a little chunk of hash smaller than a pea between the paddle and the straw.

Most people should be all set with 2 or 3 of those little peas.

Resurrecting thread! I was looking for a nice desktop around $250 and seem to be thinking of the Q over the SSV because I like bags. Was originally hoping to get the Vapir Rise but the reviews tell me otherwise, what with the fan you can't turn off.
My main question is whether anyone knows if I can vape some charas in the Q. Living in India, I have access to some crap weed and excellent charas. My LB has been doing the job so far, but am not happy with its charas vaporisation (am using the concentrate tray). The charas ranges from hard to soft, almost always black and aromatic. Anybody else have experience with this? Is the Q meant for use with hash in the first place? Does it cause problems, like screen clogging?
Hope I can get some answers from the community. :)

@JeeSee

So the Q has two screens- a larger one on bottom and a smaller one on top, known as the elbow. Typically when people want thicker clouds from smaller loads, they pack it in the elbow screen. This works well with dry herb, but with hash you'll face reduced airflow and likely a clogged screen after a few bowls.

So bottom line is, the Q will work with hash but the screen will need to be cleaned regularly (prob every 3-5 bowls). This is obviously a pain in the ass, but every vape I've used has faced a similar issue.

Interesting point. Thanks. Is there another desktop vaporiser in this range that you would recommend above others in terms of efficacy with hash? In turn, is its efficacy with herb compromised?

Modded Q > Q (Modded Q performs greater than Stock Q)

Put some hash on a small bed of organic cotton, this will increase restriction but should keep your screen cleaner and allow you to spread the hash over a larger surface area giving you a faster and possibly more thorough extraction.

I've put bubble hash in most of the vapes I've owned and I'd say the lotus is the best, followed by the LSV. For hash you want a vape that has a high temperature range and an easily changeable/cleanable screen. Lotus satisfies both these constraints; you have a temp range from 0-combustion and the bowl/screen is easy to clean (you can just hit them with the torch and wipe/brush down).

Personally I think the cotton method works better for full-melt hashes. In my experience even high quality bubble hash just sits on top of the cotton and gets sticky. It keeps the screen clean, but there's also more restriction and the added taste of cotton.

I checked out the Lotus from your signature already! Haha. Looks great but a flame is quite conspicuous/ makes me feel like I'm hitting crack rock. recommended it to a friend today who is in the market for a portable - but I didn't see any mention of vaping hash in it.
After circling around the Xtreme Q and the Vapolution 2.0, I am leaning toward the E-Nano at the moment. :)

I honestly have never been able taste my cotton... Dry hit with only cotton at 10 (highest setting) in the Nano produces no taste or vapor for me and more importantly no sensation in my throat or lungs. I have seen quite a few reports of bad taste, I've just never experienced any.

I put a chunk of pressed kief on a bed of cotton in my Nano gong, hit it, then break it up and spread it out. I've had great success doing this. A really wispy, thin layer doesn't do much in the way of restriction for me however when I use a more cotton for full melts then there is a noticeable amount of restriction added.

I am leaning toward the E-Nano at the moment. :)
Do it! I absolutely love my E-Nano. Would you need a converter to run it? Have you considered something like an UD or HI that runs on 12v DC?

What about the LSV?

I don't know about the Underdog or Heat Island - I don't like that the Heat Island seems to have a heating element that isn't all ceramic and seems to burn out as well from some complaints I've heard from overseas users. I also didn't read anything about vaping hash in them, which is a big part of why I'm choosing the E-Nano (will be using it for charas regularly). Underdog seems a little beyond my budget right now and, honestly, I just like the way the E-Nano is built, and I also like that it's contemporary. Is there any advantage to the Underdog over the E-Nano?
I'm not entirely sure how the LSV works... is glass a requirement while using it? Uncertain I'd go for something like that, and if I did (in the far future) I think it would be a Herborizer or Sublimator. I'm very clumsy with my stuff, and break things often. Broke two large bongs in the last year! How is the vapor quality when compared to the E-Nano? Does it vape hash/charas well (I don't care about waxes or oils, that's not what we ever use here)? Does it have mobility, car adaptability and an easy learning curve for friends?
I will be getting a converter, of course. Sorry for derailing the thread - you can always reply to me in a private message if you so prefer!

The LSV works the same as the other 7th floor vapes: a ceramic soldering-iron style heating element covered in glass. You don't need a bong to use it, but the LSV is definitely better with one. It's about twice the size of the enano, still decently portable though. You can buy a 12v DC inverter which should be enough to power the LSV in your car.

It gets hot enough for hash, but if you're not using the WPA the screen can be a real pain in the ass to clean.
