I wonder when we'll get a clear, in-focus vid of the new Swagger turbine tube in operation? I'd really like to see, as I've seen vids of turbines that produce a furious swirl of water, ones that don't really seem to spin at all, plus several stages in between the two, and I'd like to see where this design falls. Only the ones with tight channels between the vanes seem to build up enough jet velocity to make a clear foam vortex, but there's a trade-off with how tight you can go vs drag...

Well, you may be a little young for this, but back in the great days of yore, when the Cloud EVO was still unnamed to the public, I guessed what its name was going to originally be: Nimbus. It was a contest, and a personal hydratube of stonemonkey55 was offered to the winner... who ended up being... me!
Even though the name was changed, stonemonkey55 was gentleman (and cool) enough to honor the original contest, and sent me that prototype for what appears to possibly be a new type of hydracirc going to be offered, but I think some people around here know more about it than I do...
It may not be quite as fancy as some of the others popping up, but it sure has special value!

Thought I'd repost this in here too. This was also a SM55 tube from a contest. How concerned should I be about some idiot blowing into it and shooting water down into the VXL?

Very. If it happens the thermal shock can break the bamboo. As for your solution, if you run it dry, maybe, but that design can siphon as well . . .

Well.. that glassblowersdirect inline piece is all I can think of to kind of help with this problem. At least the water has to first travel vertically through the inline piece in order to invade the unit. I have no VXL --- just waiting for the EVO. Wondering if the EVO will have protective measures against this. Not really expecting it to though.
Maybe I should name this tube the Sword of Damocles.
I'm not worried about blowing into it but you never know with other people. Maybe the easiest answer is to just not let people who don't know what they're doing use it.

11eleven11: Don't let anyone use that tube before you are CERTAIN they will not blow into into it. If you are not sure, train them with another hydratube, or just dry. Or just ask them if they know how to use a bong right.
That adapter looks completely inverted, wouldn't you need two adapters to make it work? I mean there is a male joint on the bottom and female on the top, exatcly the opposite of what you want for a HT. Putting it on upside down would be useless i think.
Also if the water level is on the blue line, there is not much space left before it overflows. When you look at the SSFG, you can see the intake channel goes up to the level of ice-pinches. So you would need to overfill the water to THAT level to make it overflow and even them there is another water holding chamber at the joint. When you look at this modular piece, you can see only 2 cm above the blue line level and you have water in your Cloud. Imo even worse than the hydratree. That at least has a very long tree perc than will be hard to make it overflow.

I see. And yeah, I would have to ask them about making it a male GonG and not female. I guess the simplest answer really is -- don't let people who don't know how to use it take hits.

SUGGESTION: Make a cloud buddy that's cased in coolant: so you can freeze it and make any bubbler ice'd cloud for your summer's day on the lawn. Fuck a pina Colada. It would need a removable slide so you don't get some temperature conflicts though now that I think about it...

Yeah, you can't use that "adapter", at least not in any practical way. It's a segment for their "Assassin" line of modular bongs. Those joints are big 38mm ones (or 50mm?), so even if they were the right combination of male and female it'd still be a no go. You'd need appropriate 38mm to 18mm adapters on each end, in addition to the cost of the piece, plus you'd end up with a teetering tower of glass like two feet tall.
You could try contacting a blower for a solution, though. You'd get something far more compact and I bet a lot cheaper, too. Just a couple inches or so of 50mm tube, with a dewar 18mm female in the bottom (with a cap on top of the joint and ventilation picked/cut into the sides of the cap), and an 18mm male in top, and you're good to go.
If, like me, you live in a place with no local blowers, try talking to Jhanpixel here, or Andy from Colie on his iOffer page. Or even GBD, I guess, but if you're outside the US they aren't interested.

A package with a Slider Contest HT arrived recently. It's a beatufil Classic Vertigo HT. I couldn't be more thankful. This classic first gen HT plus a modular second gen HC makes an epic combination.
Cloud saver on the bottom, splashguard on top, tree+circ in between them, ice-pinches on top.
I gets quite tall, somewhat taller than a regular double chamber because of being straight neck and because of the GONG joint in the middle.

Oh man, I'm sure the Vertigo paired up with the VXHC 2.0 must be a dream come true. The only piece of glass I like using more than my Vertigo HT or Swagger Showercap is a Mad Rob 8 arm tree perc with vertical slits on each tree as well as horizontal slits, bent neck, bubbler.
I won't bother posting pictures of my Vertigo Hydratree since there has been some recent pics of them, but I have a few pics of a prototype showercap from Swagger.

So... I traded a really nice worked marble rig for a Swagger Showercap Bent Neck w/Hyrafoot. I looked at the video on the VXH site and it looks pretty interesting. I'm not crazy about that logo, but we will see. This was yet another move to get ready for the EVO

The showercap is a short fill (5-6ml) so its diffusion is very light. Since you are lifting that column of liquid up when hitting, it can have a bit of chug and drag for such a small volume of liquid.
