Will a vaporizer ever set off a smoke detector?
If you put the smoke detector inside 2 plastic bags held in place by a thick rubber band then the answer is noWill a vaporizer ever set off a smoke detector?
Think this is pretty old tech, I remember an electrical engineering lecture about 25 years ago the speaker was reminiscing(so must have been longer than 25 years ago) about installing a fire detection system in a fireworks factory, he was saying it was on a hair trigger...so he could flick a lighter on behind his back and the detector would go off...didn't even need line of sight, something to do with the casting of flickering light if I recall, should be quite simple using a photo-resistor & the right logic.Lol @ open flame alarms. Interested to see how that actually works. Light? Lol no. Chemical detection? That's a smoke alarm. Heat? Would need to be fucking HOT.
It's probably a myth used to keep people in line like pool water that changes color if you pee in it, and Michael Jackson.

Most older smoke detectors you would have to sit and blow even your Cigarette Smoke into it to engage the alarm. Back when i was a real person and owned my own home and all, I smoked cigs, Bongs and joints in my house many times everyday and the smoke alarms didn't care. but burn toast in the toaster or turn on the broiler to whip up some crispy bacon and they all started screaming their "warning warning" alarm.

If not, it will depend on you & the smoke detector, how it's been configured & to what tolerance, don't be surprised if in the near future detectors start purposely detecting vapour, it's only a matter of time before the insurance companies catch up.
I dunno why anyone would make such a detector.if we had vapor detectors you couldnt make tea or coffee or cook anything,
Electronic detectors operate way way below levels of human detection, if you can smell it then technology can to.I doubt its even feasible....

Think you missed the joke.I think you are missing the point.
the vapor would dissipate and wouldnt be vapor. at which point its no longer a vapor detector. i dont think its feasible. there is nothing to detect after a few seconds.

Could it be because it's illegal and/or against hotel policy?I just don't get what the big deal is.
Maybe thats an American thing, like I said even in Amsterdam some hotels are nervous about pot, they have signs up & they make it very clear its not welcomed. After a lifetime of staying in hotels, I would argue hotels are a place where anything goes
No one gets kicked out of a hotel for smoking/vaping pot
Smoking anything indoors in a public place is banned by law where I am, taxi drivers aren't even allowed to smoke in their own car, recently people have been pulling out e-cigs in bars & restaurants and being asked to leave, the defence is that its not smoking but business owners are having none of it.
...For some people getting busted with pot could mean the end of their career or worse.

A Very delicate CO detector will often respond to even a small cigar butane torch lighter.I've dabbed and vaped in hotels with non opening windows many times without issue... yet when at my buddy's place in his man cave, he had a PITA smoke detector that goes off a couple seconds a micro torch is lit but not during vaping clouds
I got new hand-soap around the same time my aunt was visiting for a few days.
I honestly thought she had been sneaking e-cig puffs in the washroom until I looked at the soap ingredients and realized PG, PEG and whatever deodorant/flavours were all in there.
Similarly I've been hearing Disney banned the use of e-cigs in non-smoking sections of the park. But ironically Disney has been testing and using PG, or quite literally large e-cigarette "odor machines" and "smoke machines" in their rides for years. I find it odd that they feel its safe enough to spray in peoples faces during the ride, but its not OK for an adult to enjoy freely in the park, as it effects no one.
