Yep, the way it stands the Order Complete email is dispatched when your order has been made, packed and labelled. I mark orders right before I go out to the post office to mail them. Those who ordered with Tracking will get another email from me with tracking information, though I am trying to script it so that happens automatically (spoiler alert: not working yet).

If anyone feels that they should have received a message from me and have not, feel free to contact me and we can figure things out. I've been doing my best to scale up to the amount of orders I have been getting, but things can slip between the cracks and if that happens I will fix it as soon as I can.

Thanks everyone!

Thank you for the update Centi, I am looking forward to getting the battery especially with all of the positive feedback I have seen so far!

Hey Centi.... whats the status on order fulfillment timelines ? I want to place an order for a HC Solo replacement battery for my M105, but dont want to sit in a backorder situation with unknown receipt date.

My early development replacement I received from you for my ole M102 is still running strong and flawlessly, and it's time to treat my M105 with one of your powerplant packs ;)

I'll be honest dude, I am swamped. I have been producing as fast as I can, and I cannot keep up with the demand as things currently stand. I have recently brought on a partner who has been helping me to speed things up, but the real time consuming parts are testing (all batteries go through a 4h testing/conditioning phase) and individually processing shipping. I'm working on getting a distributor for the batteries who could potentially handle that part of it for me as well.

As it stands right now a new order will take at least two weeks, and will probably end up being closer to three. I'm not happy with the current state of affairs and I am actively working to improve it as soon as I can. As always if anyone has concerns or questions feel free to contact me via email or PM.

However, to be clear - there will be no queue jumping allowed, even for extra money, so please don't ask to jump the line.

As, my order was shipped with your batch as well. Would you mind letting me know where you are located just so I can get an idea of when mine will arrive?

I am in southern United States and today would be the 10th business day, on the Canada Post website it says from 4-8 business days. I know it will take longer than the time given due to the fact it is Canada Post and they suck(not ragging on Canada its just nothing I have ordered from Canada has arrived on time)

If you could help me out it would be much apperciated or if anyone else who should have gotten something this batch and is also in the US could chime in as well.

Many thanks everyone, especially CentiZen for creating this for us to revive our solos!

You should have yours by now I'm in the uk and would think mine would take a lot longer to get to me

I ship from Southern Ontario, and shipping time depends greatly on the method you chose. Canada Post is generally reliable, but I have had the odd issue with them. However, I think that the estimates provided on the Canada Post website are a little optimistic. This is what I have seen in practice, generally

  • Canada:
    • Small Packet: 3 – 8 business days
    • XpressPost: 2 – 4 business days
  • United States:
    • Small Packet USA: 5 – 12 business days
    • Tracked Packet: 4 – 8 business days
  • Europe/Russia/Asia:
    • International Packet: 6 – 12 business days
  • Australia:
    • International Packet: 6 – 12 business days
  • Elsewhere:
    • International Packet: 6 – 15 business days

I'm really glad to hear that @mjgirl! The solo is so much more enjoyable when you don't have to worry about the battery.

And a little update on things; we've (yes, now it's we!) have been able to speed up things a bit, and I'm able to focus on production more heavily. I'm hoping that we can get the backorder list entirely taken care of in the next few weeks. Demand has been very high, and while that is a good thing I'm not happy with how long people are having to wait to get their orders filled.

As always you can shoot me an email or a PM if you have any questions or concerns about your order

Thanks,

Michael

Apologies if this question has been asked I am in a rush today. In the video posted in the very first post, is there a reason the battery/circuit board cover was not reinstalled before reinstalling the main body of the solo? Would this harm the unit or perhaps improve the unit in any way?

Thanks

Hi there Cosmos,

The reason the plastic backing is not reinstalled is because the new battery is slightly larger, and as a result the backing is not needed. It is there to prevent the smaller battery from shaking around and knocking the components, while the new battery sits snug against the circuit board

Oh, my bad @as! Thanks for taking care of that question for me, I had first read it dog tired at 4am in the morning and didn't even think for a second it could have just been a reply. Silly me, I just removed that whole bit from my earlier post. Thanks again.

Thanks for the responses. Centizen, do you have a recommended practice for preserving the life of these batteries? I have read on the solo forum that one should charge to 7 and remove while still blinking, and never deplete past the 2nd level. What have you found to be the most beneficial, or do you have any theories about preservation of these kinds of batteries.

Quick correction, it should be you pulling the charger when the 7 lights are full, but the green charge light still blinks. You can use it down until there are no more LED's when turning it on before charging again. As the chemistry is the same, I assume the same will apply to Centi's packs.

You may be quite correct, Quetz:) ...and I'd be really interested to learn what CentiZen advises, as he is a master at this as well;)!

Well, the cells in use here are actually a little different than the ones that are used in the original pack. They both have a similar amount of Lithium, and use the same electrolytes, but the chemical makeup of the cathode is a bit different. The ones in the Solo originally are the classic NiMnCo type of batteries that have been used in laptop batteries and the like for the past few years. Alternatively; the ones that I am using in my batteries are LiCoO2 cathode type that are aimed more for the automotive market because of their higher performance and densities (and cost).

As a result of the chemical composition of this cathode, these batteries stand up to abuse much better than the original cells could. It would probably be faster to make a list of the things you shouldn't do to prolong the lifespan, as it would consist of one thing:

  • Don't drain the battery to >10% and leave it like that for longer than a few days
Other than that? You can do what you want with it. Leave it on the charger all night, vape five sessions in a row, use it till the Arizer won't let you turn it on... just make sure you charge it back up shortly after that. The only thing these batteries don't like is to be left drained for long periods of time, it causes the liquid electrolyte to start to crystalize after about a week or so, and that is pretty much a one way process that will cause the internal resistance of the battery to increase significantly, ruining the battery.

Self discharge of these cells are around 3% per year, so even a half charged battery would take 16 years to get to the point where it would need to be charged to prevent this. There isn't much you need to concern yourself with when it comes to these batteries.

If your interested in learning more about cathode types and how they affect things, check out this document which covers both cathode and anode development for 2011 - 2012 and a bunch of other interesting battery stuff.
