Gear Vapenwiser Domeless Ti Nail - Pics & Video

NewVape

What a guy!
So I recently came across the Vapenwiser Domeless Ti Nail on another thread and being a geek for new gadgets I went ahead and got me one.

I picked one up from the makers website, $120. Included the Domeless Ti Nail, a Ti Dabber, and shipping. I ordered it on 8/1 and received it today 8/8, 1 week not bad.

I came packaged in bubble envelope with some Vapenwiser stickers. Below are some pics. I tried to get a video of the first heat up and seasoning, but it didn't come out. The video below is of the second heat up and season. I plan on making another video of it in action once I get it seasoned more.

Looks like a good innovation. I just wonder why they don't make the piece that goes in to the joint a little longer for a bit more stability.

I have the same problem with my ordinary nail though.

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
Interesting ! It'd be nice to eliminate the globe in most cases.

Look forward to seeing a vid where your actually 'hitting' the rig instead of just seasoning to gauge the possible vapor loss (if any) you'd experience.

Agreed, my main issue with the domeless nails (and hitman bellybuttons/outies for that matter) is no one is showing the fact that they must all be possibly terribly inefficient to use with air conditioning on or outside with moving air. It seems like you'd have to pull very hard unless the air was basically stagnant in the room, or you'll be bound to lose something.

Just a problem I see with the design of these nails with nothing to catch the vapor on above the hole. it's hot as balls down here don't wanna have to turn off my A/C every time I take a dab :p

Nice! Is that a 14 mm joint?

Yes it's a 14mm but from what I understand it is universal and also fits an 18mm. I look around and see if I can find one to hook it up to.

Yeah the jury is still out on the stability. So far it's not effecting performance, and I was really poking it around in the video.

So far there is no vapor loss when using it w/o a dome. Ive been using it out in the garage with both doors open so pleanty of cross breeze and it doesn't effect it.

I'll be posting another video on Saturday. Won't have time til then. But I'll post 2, one of it in action just regular, and then one with a fan going on the nail to see if vapor is blown off under worst case.

If there's something else you'd like to see just leave a post. :)

Here's a vid I shot this evening using the Vapenwiser nail and dabber. since there were some questions about how moving air effects it I will post another vid a little later tonight.

This one was shot in an enclosed room and gives you and over all idea of the nail in action. I'll post another with open doors and fans. Little too vaked to do it now.

Anyway enjoy

Edit: Oh and sorry about the screen full of elbow :p and watch to the end for the cloud.

ok, now for the 3rd and final video. this time a bit more of a stress test, we're in the garage with the door open right behind me. the door on the other wall is also wide open, so plenty of airflow as you can see by the moving fan blades. Right before the dab I turn the fan on and believe me there is quit a breeze blowing right over the nail (I should have tied a little flag to my rig :D). and does the Vapenwiser perform? Let's see...

First of all congrats on the Vapenwiser Nail. They are the real deal! Second I advise to move the fan from blowing on the nail because you are cooling it while heating it as well as chancing the loss of vapor because of the wind so close. That kinda defeats engineering of the product IMO. Third you need to upgrade your rig if you are using a quality nail. That nail costs more than the piece you are smoking out of. Again kinda silly. Best of luck and enjoy some dabs.

Also I recommend that you take the nail and hold it with some scissors and torch it until its glowing red from head to toe and drop it in cool water. Repeat about 4-5 times and your nail will be fully seasoned. http://videos.nuggetry.com/others/nuggetry-tv-special-how-to-season-a-titanium-nail/

No offense but from what I've heard from many of the creators of different TI nails (Taskrok on his facebook from highly educated and the DoYouDab creator), the dropping in water technique isn't the proper way to season the nail, it will definitely increase oxidation on the nail (the white crust that forms on the nail when heating it up very red) rather than form a proper seasoning layer. You should just use some lower grade oil or reclaim to season the nail and don't superheat the nail when seasoning, rather heat it a little less than you would for a dab so the dab can sit there and really soak into the TI without burning up instantly on a red hot TI layer.

anyway thats my :2c:, just heard that seasoning like that is not really good for your nail.

it should only take about 1 decently large dabs worth to season the nail anyway...don't have to superheat it and dunk it 4-5 times lol

Ssoooo, through trade (thank ya FC) i have aquired the OP's Vapenwiser. I at the same time aquired a ti pad and curve. First let me say, i love this nail! It actually lost less than the pad... Especially if i dunk instead of dab. I ordered a 18 mm piece that is dewarr cut so we will see how it works in that when it gets here. Although the 14mm seems wobbly, its not to bad. The wiser also has a secret claim location... After a few dabs some builds up at the bottom of the nail. Get a dab free lol.

I love my buddy's Vapenwiser! And the reclaim hits from the bottom are pretty solid if you let it build up and definitely nice when you're dry.

The other day we were messing around with some dabs and one of my friends unrolled his ball into strings and managed to make a ring around the "donut" of the nail :brow: Not the best quality but the moment was so classic.

@farscaper glad you're liking the nail. I've been using the LSV every day and will post some vids on that thread soon

@Shoff that was cool. :D

how does the Vapenwiser Domeless compare to the Highly Educated and Dab Essentials domeless nails?

The HE domeless is basically the same as the vapenwiser if i recall correctly, the only diffrence i saw cup wise was that the HE "tube" in the center of the cup sticks up above the cup where as Wisers tube is a little less than even with the top edge of the cup. Now the DE domeless is diffrent in that the dabbing surface "cup" area is in the center and there is a ring of holes around the outer edge. It also has a solid base where as the other two (wiser & HE domeless) have a more skeleton like weighted bottom...

The dab essentials has its own thread in concentrates i think.

farscaper,
