I was just wondering if maybe an ash catcher would work to hook to a vape (myrtle zap) for a small water filter/vapor cooler? Have the tubing from the vape attaching where the bowl goes and a small section of tubing with mouthpiece to draw from. Anybody know if it would work?

Yes an AC setup right works great for vapor.
I suggest getting a whip -> joint ground glass adaptor to plug into the bowl rather then just tubing... tighter seal, easier to clear and just a better setup.
As for inhaling from the AC, there are proper GG stems/mouthpieces for this exact purpose, with a clip the setup will be just as good as a bubbler.
I personally don't know about hooking tubing up to the male joint and inhaling from that, haven't tried it, but it definitely wouldn't be as nice as a the proper glass mouthpiece.
