All portable induction heaters on the market are "throw it in your backpack" portables and the PSM is no exception. I don't understand how it's more portable than a Vap Hot Box or the rechargeable Apollo.

I think the PS mini is a little more portable in the way it can be accessed on a lanyard as the picture shows, like accessing a backpack radio in WW2, flip the canvas cover-up, do what you need, drop flap back down...old school portable.

Are you implying that the VHB has counterfeit internals as well?I saw some cheap heavy Trustfire? 18650 batteries pulled apart that was 3/4 full of sand with a tiny 200mah battery wired inside the supposed 3500mah 18650 case, heft doesn't mean a great deal unless buying a bag of hooch.

I don't get all the hate for the Vap Hot Box. I'm very happy with it! 
The Hot Box gives me bigger hits than my rechargeable Apollo and it's a joy to use. Having to hold a button to activate heating is no problem at all for me. The battery life is also excellent. The Apollo gives me about 75 clicks with one charge and the Hot Box ... well, I didn't count but I'm still on my first charge.
I prefer the on/off switch in the Hot Box over the one in in the Apollo. It's easy to turn on the Apollo by mistake and it happened twice already. Never had this with the Hot Box. Also, the magnet on my Apollo fell off and I have to glue it back on. The magnet on the Hot Box is smaller but that's okay. It works.
There are many reports on reddit with uneven AVB with the Apollo. I can't confirm that. I usually load up my Vapcaps with about .05 gram and the AVB is very even with the Apollo. The same for the Vap Hot Box.
I don't know anything about building induction heaters and yes, maybe the Hot Box build is questionable. But from a user perspective I really like it. I'm sure it's not on Fluxer level but I'm happy I bought one. I'm on the waiting list for a Fluxer but not sure I still need it. I might actually pass on it when I get the e-mail.

As well as what? Not implying anything here, just saying the weight of electronics from China means shit.
I doubt there is anything wrong with the build quality at all.
There is no reason it is not as good, they are very similar.

They probably are. The Fluxer has more customisation options and wood covers and a custom circuit board and all that stuff but most people don't really need that. I'm sure it's amazing though. Does anyone know the coil size of the Hot Box and the Apollo? I hand measured 14mm but I highly doubt it are 14mm coils.There is no reason it is not as good, they are very similar.

Has that just got a big old hole in the side for cooling near the coil? Pretty ordinary for a $150 unit.
People keep going on about the SJK looking like shit, at least it looks like it was made in a factory.

I never said anything about this item having anything counterfeit in it (why would you counterfeit Chinese stuff anyway, it is already cheap?)
I just said electronics weight has nothing to do with quality nowadays and used the 'unrelated in any way to this product' example of the 18650 scam batteries around.

Using this beautiful @Aezhenn stem with the Apollo? Not possible. You can't push it in deep enough to activate the on/off switch. With the Vap Hot Box? No problem at all, perfect hits and very even AVB!

That would be a stem design flaw....not an IH flaw....only technically of course.

I do not like having to press the button with my vapcap, I prefer a proximity sensor but a bush button like @vapenerd posted would be my next preference.
This thing is in my list! Finally, a IH heater that doesn't have a tactile switch and is small and looks nice.
I also don't like having to press my cap cause I set it just perfect for optimal airflow and pressing it usually cuts a lot of airflow.

I heard back from Steve at VapHotbox.com. He said "What I can tell you is everything is solder together including the coil and the wire leads that go to the board itself and all connections are shrunk wrapped. The battery pack is replaceable but we make the packs so you have to have them replaced by us. Its very tight in this box so I really don't want to give away my layout just yet at least."
Steve followed up and said "I do the battery like that so I know it's the right batteries and not a cheap knockoff. Plus I really don't want someone who doesn't know what they're doing to open it up and break it cause they don't have a clue so I'd rather do it like that."

Definitely nothing to do with proprietory battery pack money making, I am amazed by the number of people that have not blown up with their Starry, Alternate, Arizer Air, Tera, Davinci IQ, and all the other cheap devices that have quick-change 18650 batteries...nothing like stirring the old safety pot to make some money.

If they were proud of their workmanship, you'd have seen pictures. If they were simply paranoid about copycats, they are loosing potential customers. I noted initially how proud they are of their cells and with good reason. Those brown LG cells are the bee's knees. And I understand that they don't want cheap batteries put in there because it is dangerous. But I have to agree with @swieder711 in that this hush-hush on the internals is highly over-rated. Vap Hot Box would get a lot more attention if they were more forthcoming on their site. I won't buy one but I will be the first to recommend an IH heater for vape caps. I know too little about this one to recommend it at this time.
