V2 Pro Series 3/QuickDraw 300

Over the falls, in a barrel
I just got my Series 3 herb cartridge after waiting 2 months, and I'm not a fan. The taste is poor, the vapor quality is poor, the bowl is too deep which makes emptying it a pain, and the light on the end shines green the entire time it's in use which is more conspicuous than the other cartridges which light white when in use.

The oil cartridge has poor taste as well, though at least it vapes well enough. I'd expect better for the cost of the full unit. That's the main issue with the V2 S3, IMO. You get a relatively expensive battery section that gives you all of the bang for your buck (magnetic cartridges with data chips, magnetic charging), along with fairly cheap cartridges. It's like the battery is over-engineered while the cartridges are under-engineered.

The oil cartridge seems to be the most solidly designed out of the three, but it still suffers from a "cheap disposable cartridge" design mentality when it comes to things like taste, and the plastic mouthpiece. The liquid cartridges seem fairly well designed at a glance, and work pretty well at their best, but don't do so well with thick juices and tend to end up leaking a lot. The herb cartridge just seems poor quality all around, IMO.

I think if the cost of each cartridge was around $50, and the quality and performance reflected it, and the responsiveness of the company was better, then the V2 Pro S series would be a solid value proposition. I want something worth the price of an S7, but in the S3 form factor. Even keep the one button, one temperature limitation; the convenient size and shape, the coolness and functionality of the magnetic system, and the reliability of these theoretical $50 cartridges would make a theoretical $175 two-cartridge package worth it IMO. Right now, I think the cartridges just aren't good enough to justify the cost of the battery.

As it stands, I'm not interested in the S7 either… This is because the price of each cartridge is modestly increased compared to its S3 equivalent, meaning most of the performance improvement should be coming from the battery section and the increased capacity of the cartridges. Although I'd hope that the S7 herb cartridge doesn't hold much more than the S3 does, as it already holds a lot. It should at least benefit from a wider bowl either way.

Having now tried all three S3 cartridges, I can't recommend investing in the S3 platform as it is.

I've split the V2 series 7 posts off into a new thread, since it is a different model and isn't e-cig based. This thread has been renamed to reflect the fact that the QuickDraw 300 is a private label release of the V2 series 3.

I have the Quickdraw 300 DLX and so far it is a stand up performer in all ways and suffers none of the problems you mentioned.

The herb cartridge is small hence the name quickdraw much like the Boss. I find a safety pin works great to clean it out.

I pre ISO dipped my wax cartridge and shatter tastes amazing! almost persei amazing IMO!

I used very thick homemade vegetable glycerine tinctures in the E-juice cartridge and it works fantastic!

I don't know if the cartridges are the same but they should be interchangeable.

I will post a usage review using all 3 cartridges for you guys very soon.

When it comes to the liquid cartridge, I think we're talking about very different usage scenarios. I use multiple liquid cartridges in rotation, all day. The wicking just can't keep up at a pace that keeps me satisfied, and the leaking is a problem that develops over time. I can see how these issues wouldn't be immediately apparent if you were just using it once in a while for a tincture rather than all day every day.

@nopartofme I totally agree with you. I do not use E-juice so I did my review with some thick VG tinctures to see if the wicks would soak them up...It worked like a freakin champ!

As promised, here is a usage review video for you guys with the herb, wax, and E-juice cart with herb, shatter, and tinctures.
I hope you guys enjoy the video!

good review, doc...thanks! I'm gonna give the herb cart another run, as I didn't have great luck with it but you seem to have got it working acceptably. I thought the wax cartridge worked really well, also. At first my wax was getting up on the lip above the coil. Once I scraped it off and got it down in there it worked great, even when not straight up. I wish I had some of that tincture! I have been using the oil cart as an e-cig and it works well. I like that I can have that on me and make a quick switch if I need to.

My second herb capsule works fine.
Sure fits not much, but it vapes the material pretty much like an ascent, without the taste.
Not really using it though, but comes in handy from time to time.

On a sitenote, the 3, ocb branded, is now also available under the ocb tab of the v2 .EU site

DISCLAIMER: I have access to sell these things, so take that into account when you read my thoughts on it. Until last night I didn't like the herb cart enough to recommend this pen. But now that I have it working well I like it for what it is...a small pen vape that uses conduction for herbs. If people buy it with appropriate expectations I think they will be surprised by it and like its versatility.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had my first good session with this thing last night using the herb cart as a night cap. It was in a dark room, but the clouds and taste were acceptable...especially given what this pen is and that the herb chamber is so small. It's not fair to compare this to what I usually use for a night cap, but as a pen I was pleasantly surprised. I really need to get some tincture somewhere, but the oil cart works fine as an e-cig cart.

I will put this in the i-Mag camp, except the iMag is bigger in every way including the bowl. But the hits were comparable given the size of the load. The other two carts work well enough for me to want to use it for all three. I imagine users feeling like the herb cart doesn't do anything if they are using the concentrate carts much due to tolerance levels.

Obviously, at this point I can't speak to durability or ease of cleaning. I've used it only a handful of times.

I was completely blown away by the QD 300's herb cartridge. I assumed it was combusting; not because of the flavor, but the vapor was so damn thick! Emptied it out, perfectly vaped.

The wax cart...works great...but its a damn mess. They are redesigning it I hear.

So it should be out early 2017? Just kidding, but I am excited for mine to get here. Bought 3 herb carts and the wax, so hopefully I won't have to deal with them for a while. Finally got the tracking number about two weeks after my order, which honestly isnt too bad.

well, lately I've seen a lot of chinese ecigs with temperature control, but always it has something to do with variable voltage. So is it really possible to controll the temperature through voltage?! I'm not sure!

Yes you control temperature via adjusting the voltage. This in turn adjusts the wattage OUTPUT by the coil. In Truth there is no SUCH THING as variable wattage. Because to adjust the wattage you maust first either adjust the resistance of the heating element or the amount of power being fed to it. Volts in the INPUT, WATTAGE is the OUTPUT. Vaiable voltage vs wattage in an APV, refers to the SCALE on which you measure what is happening, not really HOW it happens..

I would say the only reason to go with QD over V2 is if you want one of their colors, or need it ASAP (V2 has some backorder issues). Otherwise, V2 is cheaper and the original manufacturer, provide e-liquid, and they offer stainless steel.

Not interested in e-liquid, just the dry cartridge. Any comparison re customer service? So right now with the vapeworld sale the QD is a bit cheaper.

vape-noob,
I've been dealing with customer service for 3+ months due to a faulty V2 Pro Series 3 and its equally faulty replacements.

The vape is actually great for my needs. I tend to use the Series 3 in dense, urban environments and for that it excels. It's really great if you want a portable unit that will vaporize but not combust dry herb while maintaining the look of a standard e-cig.

Customer service has ranged from awesome to awful. I got a free cartridge after having to send back three defective vapes in a row, which was great, but I've also had shipping labels lost in the mail and experiences with rude representatives.

I was actually just about to buy an oil cartridge for the V2, but stopped when I was prompted to enter my address to verify my age. Foolishly thinking this was just an internal security measure or a form of "digital signing" to verify that I am 21+, I entered my home address and a prior address when prompted. After that, it informed me that my information did not verify my age when shared with a third party verification company.

Call me paranoid, but it sounded a little suspicious of this "third party" so I decided to contact V2 support. When I asked about the third party service collecting my address, name, and age, I was asked for my order number then they ended our little chat instantly. There was an option to have my chat forwarded to my email. I entered it and have not received the chat log.

Sketchy....:hmm:

Just grabbed one, great deal if you live in Canada because shipping is free. V2 ships for like $25 to Canada. I also wonder if this is a latter model, because i am hearing better reviews on the 300 than the series 3

Mine just got here today. Can't do a full review yet, as I haven't gotten a chance to use the herb or wax carts, but first impressions are phenomenal. Came with a close to full charge, popped it on the charger for 30 min and waited for my vanilla liq to soak in the eliquid cart. Eliquid has hit beautifully, and complemented my pax perfectly.

Overall build quality has been impressive. The herb cart seems solid, and I love the soft touch mouthpiece on it. Also seems like it fits a decent amount in it. Wax is the heaviest and is a little tricky, but also seems good quality. Can't wait to try them out tonight.
