Vapman & a quality bubbler hits as hard as a desktop, from personal experience, and you could get a setup sorted for about $100, plus, you have the portability thrown in, too.
Urgently need new vape, what's a good one at $150-300?

Interesting, but what's the difference between a da buddha and the SSV?
Edit: I looked into the da buddha and it seems to be described as a lower end SSV but to me I actually prefer the design with the knob on the front (is it me or the power light is on the back?)
At $135 I'm very likely to get one, I think it will be more durable than the LSV as you're not constantly moving the device. This would also let me push back the purchase of a Volcano so I can save for it. I would get it from a Canadian website though as it will end up way cheaper.

Since it would be as a temporary/emergency vape I think I would get the da buddha instead of the SSV, I actually find the design nicer and more logical with the temp control on the front instead of back (but what's with the power light on the back when there's plenty of room for it on the front?)
However I noticed at the website I normally buy vapes from the EQ is just $15 more than the da buddha so now I'm hesitating between those two as a temp vape, but there's also still the possibility I'll just wait until I can afford the Volcano.

I can't speak for EQ.
But DBV is a powerful beast out of the box, and incredible with @DDave modd kit
Either vaporizer, I would suggest getting the respected kits supplied by DDave, especially if efficiency is a key factor.
You are thinking of the Purple Days, while an awesome unit, your power/electricity situation would be exacerbated with this particular vaporizer.
In fact, I don't think I'll ever need a "better" vaporizer than my DBV, with Daves mod, insane extraction ability... Insane

The DBV hits hard, harder than HA or EQ. It just has less bling... no bags or digital temp, but it does the job well with thick hits and with good extraction. The big bowl and the taste from the whip are my biggest problems with this vape.
The big bowl makes it difficult to conserve, but now there is DDAVE mod which consists of using a basket screen in the DBV wand reducing the bowl considerably and make it closer to the heater allowing for better heat retention.
The Lotus is my main driver, i had the Buddha, the Solo, The HI, the VHW and a few others and i still keep the HI and the VHW but the Lotus stopped my VAS for almost two years now.
So between these two, i would still choose any of these over any other option for you and the prices you mention, especially if you plan to buy a Cano.
But the Lotus would supress all your needs and then some. Hits better than most desktops, and tastes better too. Doesn't get too dirty, and it's easy to clean. Plus, at 150USD it is a steal since it replaced all my desktops and portables, water or dry. I would only consider an eletric desktop now for guests or if i went to the +500USD range with the MV, EVO, Herborizer, Herbalizer, and an eletric portable for the 1% of times i want to vape without paying attention.

I'm nearly positive The Lotus will be my next Vaporizer ( God Damnnn, I wish my disability hearing was at least scheduled by now, appealed for hearing almost 2years ago) saw her for 119$ last night somewhere, I was rather high....

But to reiterate on the DBV... I've only been Vaping since 6-15/15... But I can rip my DBV as if I've been at it for a decade.
The clouds are insanely dense, and I am not even trying to pull huge clouds.
Even with Elite 6star lung busting Bubble Hash, no harsh vapor.

I just looked into the Grasshopperr and it looks amazing and seems to make the biggest clouds I've ever seen, including plug in vapes. While not a priority, I'd like to upgrade my current Pax with a better portable (it requires frequent cleaning to work).
Is the Grasshopper the only portable that's a convection vape?

What about the underdog. It automatically comes with 5 stems of your choice so that you begin with a gong if you want one plus others. I rarely use the e-nano mainly because I've never gotten around to buying more stems and can't use it with water without a gong or wong.
Underdog is also a good choice but I'm going to use it with water filter most of the time so the stems isn't a must for me.
and also i contacted underdog but they have to charge me $30-50 to ship it to canada which is why i decided to just go with enano.
hope i'd find one if not i'm still willing to buy it with retail price. i just want to take my time and save some while i can borrow my friend's crafty.

HI - Heat Island Vaporizer, a log vape similar to the UD.
VHW - Vriptech Heat Wand - Ceramic element vaporizer like 7th floor vapes, but with the element encapsulated in glass and isolated from the air path - clean vapor, but needed power for my taste. Plus, it is too fragile and the spare parts a bit costly.

The grasshopper is great, although almost double the price of the Lotus, and i'm guessing the battery won't last more than 1h. But the stealth factor is amazing.

Thanks for everyone's help. I finally bought a Volcano Digit with solid valve (my 3rd Volcano but first Volcano Digit). I didn't think I would be happy with anything in the $150-300 range or that those would last long (I didn't want something that will break after a few years like the LSV).
I had only sold my Volcano during a period where I got extremely poor and needed the money, I never would have sold it otherwise.
Also, next time I buy another vape and foolishly think it's better than the Volcano (though one may actually be better some day) I'm going to keep the Volcano to avoid having to possibly buy a 4th one.
