Tweaked knee and cannabis +++

Hi,
I learn from others med discussion so here's one to file away.

I was supposed to ref a sports tourney today but got pulled in as an injury sub.
Great tourney BUT I tweaked my knee. Hurts just below the kneecap, center.
Not sure what tendon/ligament/muscle area that is??

Hurts in several positions/ movements like standing up, extending leg, etc.
It was hurting a lot and making me wonder what the heck it is, this feels really bad, etc.

Green Crack cannabis thru my new water piece and pain is at least 90% GONE.
It is amazing, it's hard to believe.
It's even harder believe why this miracle medicine is listed as a narcotic and you can't
get it legally in most states but the opiate drugs are handed out like candy. What's wrong
with this picture?
Rant over.....
Cannabis could help sooooooo many concerns.

My HMO doctor was willing to give me opiates but their policy is no prescriptions for cannabis. I can't understand that picture either.

I went to a naturopath that I had never met before, to get an med authorization for cannabis.

Did you feel a definite "pop"?
Because if you did you need an mri.

No, it was very sore from stepping in with 30 seconds of warmups to two intense matches. Kind of overworked + tweaked. It never went pop. It just hurt directly below kneecap, in center. Kind of limped around. Like I said, some Green crack and it was 95% better. For some issues, cannabis is like a magic natural potion.

CarolKing,
that's my pet peeve. Dr's hand out opiates like they're dishing out candy at Halloween. Yet, they are so reluctant to authorize cannabis . It should be the other way around--crazy. If cannabis is a - 1 - on the potential dangerous medicine chart, opiates should be like - 1000 -
It's 180 degrees backwards, it sucks.......

I had the exact same thing. Pain just below the knee cap. No pop.

I'm a runner. Run 20 miles a week. One day, I was just walking home from the grocery store and when I stepped off the curb, there was pain in my right knee. I kinda limped the rest of the way home. Iced the hell out of it. Didn't run for a few days. Then my other knee started hurting the same way. Again........no pop. Just pain. Had to lay off of running for a few days. Hurt just standing on it. Kinda came and went. 4 days later I started running with spurts of walking. Weird part is, is that when I ran, I had no pain whatsoever, but when I stopped to walk a bit, the pain returned. When I broke into a run, the pain went away. Weird.

I weigh in at 200 lbs and I'm flat footed and over pronate, so for decades I always got either really high stability running shoes or motion control running shoes. That's all I ever ran in.

So after 500 miles on my old shoes, I needed new ones and I figured that with my knees hurting and just turning 70, I should probably get shoes with a bit more cushion, but cushioned shoes are the antithesis of motion control shoes, so I ended up getting a neutral shoe (a shoe that is designed for people with normal arches, which I don't have) with a lot of cushion and a just hint of stability. Within 10 days.............the pain went away.

Then I read this.......

So............if there are any runners out there experiencing knee pain, or other types of pain, the above link is worth a read.

For me, this whole knee issue was a bit scary. It's kinda like back pain, 'cause you can tend to think that it will never go away. Thankfully for me, that was not the case.

Band aids like cannabis is good, but it surely isn't a substitute for trying to find out what the root cause was in the first place, eh?

I am a fan of barefoot & minimalist footwear, and I have way less knee pain than I used to, back when I wore SAS and other highly structured footwear.

I walk extensively, plus bicycle for longish distances. I wear Vibrams, myself. :)

For joint pain, I often use my canna-oil rub, plus some heavier Indica on higher temps.

I can hike (without a heavy pack) and bike like nobody's business,
but after two open-knee reconstructions I haven't been able to run to save my life in 25 years.
I can't ride my lifecycle anymore either, need to sell that thing this fall.

So sorry to hear that you can't run, but really happy to hear that you can hike and bike.

If something happened to me that wouldn't allow me to either bike or run I think I'd go fucking crazy and I'm being literal here.

I slowed down pretty good the last few years with another round of surgeries (lower back & hernia repairs), but I'm starting to get back into shape. We have some great bike trails around me, and the garden/landscaping are pretty good exercise as well when I'm up to it. But yeah if the zombie apocalypse happens, I'm screwed. I dunno can they climb trees? I think they can if they can climb each other!
