True, but the look on the kids faces when old guy shows up at the skate park and starts throwing down 2 meters over the coping on a skateboard. (I was sponsored in the 80s) is priceless

I used to skate vert in the 80's-90's too. My lad hated it if I took him and his friends to the skatepark

Just been fitting some brand new red 70mm Kryptonics to my deck today (not that it sees a great deal of use in my advancing years)...

Back in the 80's all my buddy's had rad wooden decks with ball bearing wheels, customizable trucks, wicked graphics it was everything a kid wanted!!
I begged my mom for one, it was just my mom and I and she was and still is the worst skinflint/cheapskate mom i know! Love her but c'mon!!
After a few weeks she gave in and came home with this...
A neon yellow, plastic piece of crap! Made in China, solid plastic wheels with no bell or whistle in sight...
And of course no one would swap decks with me...LMAO!!!
Most of my toys are packed away from the move and will be for a while...
Quadcopters and radio control stuff!
Also just started building these plastic kits, just finished one but still painting...
Called Gundam and it reminds me of Macross and RoboTech.
They come in kit form on runners and you need to clip each piece off and finish it.
It can be quite intricate and the painting is fun!
A finished model, not mine.

My stepson loves Gundam. He goes to a local convention every year and some of the models are incredible!

Much like this one but not nearly as nice.
Probably crazy collectible now days. No idea where it came from. Dad probably found it in a ditch.
Edit: Just called dad, he found it behind the factory he worked at all busted up. I had to tear it down and fix it before I could ride it. 5th b-day present.
I found the skateboard that got me started in the woods. Bought the second one with money I earned cleaning construction site trash when I was 9. (Child labor laws, hahahahaha)

I had the exact same model except mine was gold and had a sissy bar. Mine too was second hand. Can kids even have access to drills that would work on metal these days? I seem to remember asking my dad if I could use his tools and he said "sure". There might have been a make sure you put them back when you're done, but don't recall. Today, he'd probably be investigated for child endangerment if someone found out.

Oh dear. You can't say sissy bar anymore. That's insensitive to people who might be uncomfortable to ride on the back of a bike. That might even be considered bullying for those who are offended. In fact bike companies that use such terms open themselves up to boycotts and public outrage on social media. Maybe even lawsuits for punitive damages.
