Topicals for tooth pain?

In a bit of a pinch here. Lousy insurance and a dentist who wont make time for me till march and my failed root canal is killer. Vaping alone isnt enough for the pain is there any form of MJ i can wedge next to the tooth? Like abv is a tea bag or something? Or tincture or something? Right now im taking one RX pain med, 2 OTC and MJ and its just taking the edge off. All i can do till monday is wait it out. After than i can call the urgent care dentist but he only works two days a week . Ive also been using theives an clove oil

Wow, tooth pain is one of the more difficult pains to get relief for. I can't imagine herb helping with the tooth pain itself, but it would help you feel generally better imo.

For sure Steama. I have been vaping more of my usual querkle to stay calm through it butmanit hurts

Thanks T-tub yeah ive been going through it like cotton candy since it only gives about 3 minutes minor relief. Now that its night time i think ill rub some tincture around it swallow the rest an try to sleep through it

800 mg of ibuprofen is what works for me.

Even though Ibuprofen is sold over the counter take with caution and not on a regular basis. I know from experience it will weaken your kidneys, I used it on a regular basis for several years for inflammation due to arthritis. I no longer can take any anti inflammatories except for Tylenol and I choose not go take that either because it can damage your liver.

Some pharmaceuticals can be a wonderful thing, saving lives. Just use ibuprofen with caution.

• They sell this on Amazon or at any drug store. It does a good job numbing in your mouth.

Oh yes I agree 100% and I only take it in time of need. 2 years ago I had a nasty mountain bike accident and cracked 3 teeth (and separated shoulder). 1 tooth got a root canal last year(gum was swollen like a golf ball) and the 2 others will be yanked soon. The 2 that haven't been yanked get inflamed and very painful on occasion and a stiff dose of Ibuprofen will rapidly reduce swelling and pain.

I'm also very anxious at the Dentist/doctors and I suggest Ativan for anyone who experiences the same. Again I am not a "druggy" but the Ativan makes the whole experience very tolerable for me.

Yes for sure. I use the naproxen sparingly since its also an NSAID i already have enough organ issues dont need anohter but once pain gets past an 8 i need something to get by.

Ouch! Im glad you recovered alright sorry about the teeth though. I use to take ativan but ive found i get same result with less side effect from the MJ so im pretty good in that area. I hadnt ha a regular dentist in 15 years which is what most ofmy anxiety was from having to explain all my health issues every time an having my needs often ignored. Ive had the same one since end of August (actually the day robin williams died) and the anxiety is so much better.

If you have any pure canna oil (coconut oil with cannabis in it), you can do "oil pulling" with it.

Fractal Farmacy has medicated coconut oil based dental stuff.. she has one called "pain drain", ingredients are:
Organic honey & coconut oil
Full plant extract cannabis oil (like RSO)
Therapeutic essential oils
Baking soda
Zeolite

Perhaps a local access point would have something similar? or, if you have any RSO/BHO, you could whip up some yourself, similar to the above. Peppermint is helpful for gum/tooth pain, I believe.

I agree with @Enchantre - I use RSO (I use Everclear 191, double-boil or rice-cooker so it decarbed) and put it on EVERYthing. I am a chronic pain patient (with a few other nasty things going on), and yet I am still surprised how well RSO works both orally (I prefer sublingual, some of it ends up down your throat anyway, but it hits a vein under your tongue instead of relying primarily on digestion/liver) and topically.

I use it on cuts and scrapes. I had a never-ending wart on the side of one finger that I had treated with everything the pharmacy had over ten years. RSO knocked it out after being applied for 10 days. I am coming up on my big five oh soon, and I have lousy teeth. I use the RSO, appplied using a toothpick that has been cut with scissors so it is smoother on the end being used for applying it to the tooth. RSO is initially fairly sticky (more like a grease than an oil), and quickly begins to thin and melt, but it is on there long enough for some excellent topical relief. Analgesic and anti-bacterial effects are attributed to both cannabinoids THC and CBD (plus CBC and CBD as well), so pretty much any strain should work.

And SO go with Enchantre's recipe - I apply RSO "as-is", like the same way it goes under my tongue (or before I mix it with EJMix to vape). That's me - alot of people can't stand the taste.

One other note, I still use my 3xday sublingual dose for pain control with tooth pain, so I can't say how the extract works *alone* when applied topically. I do know that it has ended up being the cure-all for me. (Think of the father from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", walking around spraying everything with Windex). :-)

So when I have a toothache that ibuprofen can't knock down, I continue my sublingual RSO and then add a topical application twice a day.

If the tooth pain is being caused by an exposed root, you can ghetto fill the tooth using a beeswax of some sort to give it a layer of protection, has helped me before.

Thank you i went out today an got some high proof vodka so i can tinker something up and see if RSO is back in stock here. Im such a lightweight even a bite of edibles knocks me down like a truck. I did put some of the tincture onit last night. Kin of an odd "trip" like super couch lock cant lift my head but was wide awake. That tinc was a 1:1 so maybe a different ratio would be more suited for me

Hi Thesoloman no the tooth isnt open it was and they put in a temp fill since its going to take a few months to get to a specialist (thank you crappy diseases for making my dental structure abnormal) an i think thats the issue. It hurt some before but the pressure had a place to drain out now its like a trapped volcano .

Oh no not to late at all. Rubbing the tincture i had on it at night is helping while im waiting on my DIY alcohol tinc to evaporate down. but im still taking other painkillers daily. Its still two weeks till they could get me in

I remember a tooth oil i used toget had myrrh in it but i havent been able to find it looks like is should see if the health shop has resin or if i need to order it. Thank you for sharing the link as well
