Tolerance Break Symptoms - What Happens When You Stop?

The lack of dreams is most likely due to melatonin being depleted and used from cannabis use and not restored from not getting it in the diet or not making it due to various reasons and one being age which in itself is a deep subject I can go on about because I don't believe your age is the reason why these thing happen but lifestyle choices are but let's keep it simple.

If you eat a lot of grains and low protein foods before going to bed your melatonin should improve over time and your rem dreams should come back. Corn and fried oatmeal is my favorite to put me to sleep quickly. A banana or two helps also.

Tart cherry juice has a lot of melatonin in it but make sure you get the best quality because a lot of the juices are inconsistent. Cheribundi is a good brand(http://www.cheribundi.com/ourjuices.html)

VWfringe, try eating around 2-3 ounces of nuts and seeds daily(try to eat different ones each day) and this should ease your problem due to their high amounts of good fats, proteins, mineralsand other chemicals we are learning about that help the immune system stay away from inflammation which I think is the problem some have when stopping cannabis. In other words the cannabis is acting as a powerful anti-inflammatory and when they stop they don't have anything to takes it's place so the body tries to adjust and you get these issues.

Dont feel bad VWFringe, me, as well as most people I know are pretty hooked on it. It depends if you have an addictive personality I think. I used to think weed was bad because I did feel addicted, then realized I was the same way with video games before I discovered weed. Literally needed to play everyday and I thought about it alot when I wasnt. With MJ I'm not even that bad anymore, and hardly hooked, like I could stop, but my mind tries to make excuses why I dont need to. MJ really only is a mental addiction to people who have minds that obsess with doing something again and again, so dont feel bad. Also the older you get and longer you use, IMO, it just gets easier and easier to not NEED it.

Off topic: does anyone else LOVE everything about Google chrome but wanna beat the shit outa whoever implemented the broken spell check...I mean it is Google after all...why not use the same engine??

i'm a light user, i notice that if i dose before sleep, i lose memory of the dreams.

but if i stop using i experience only one withdrawal symptom, which is that it is slightly more easy to agitate and frustrate me. (like having to deal with the heavily flawed court system)

I vape everyday from about 8pm 1 or 2 sessions. My witdrawal symptoms are basically a really big urge to vape the next night and the urge lessens to day 3. That's when there is very little urge to vape on day 3. but I must say, I think vaping makes me want to vape more than combustion.

I'm an all day, everyday vaper and when I stop, I have the craziest dreams. I tried taking a week off a month or so ago and couldn't do it after 2 days. My dreams were just too fucked up and I don't really like remembering them. When I vape, it's like total darkness from the time I close my eyes until l the time I wake up and that's what I like.

I'm unaware of the time I'm sleeping too... but that has been that way for a long time, already before I had ever smoked weed I only dreamed once a half year or so
weed can get me asleep faster, it used to always took a half hour to get asleep, but now I'm a daily vaporist it only takes me a few minutes I think

so I never regarded those things as withdrawal in my case

I try to limit myself to evenings and weekends, but honestly I dont feel 'right' unless Im at least a little medicated a good portion of the time.

I vape every day, multiple times a day. Rarely wake n bake on week days, but i hit it on lunch break and 2-5 sessions when i get home at 9pm. Weekends its all day, usually 4-7 sessions a day. Sessions are only 2 or 3 stems.
Im surprised more hasnt been mentioned about appetite loss. My withdrawal symptoms, that i experience only for a dcouple days or so when Im out of goodness, are difficulty falling asleep and loss of appetite. Most, if not all, of my meals are consumed while vaked. When Im forced back to baseline I am just not hungry. It takes 3 or more days for my appetite to fully return. It takes the same amount of time for my sleep pattern to become regular, but i usually just remedy that with alcohol. I am extemely appreciative that my (and everyone Ive known) absolute worst withdrawal symptons are very minor, do not affect my day to day functions or feelings, and last only a few days.
The only withdrawal sympton i experience with booze is an overwhelming desire to consume it, controllable with marijuana.

This is a little off topic but I feel as if my body is starting to pickup some kind of a THC rhythmic pattern. I usually vape between 8-10pm at night, and currently its almost 9 and I haven't vaped tonight and I feel as if I am slightly buzzed and getting tired. This has happened multiple times, It is as if my body thinks im going to vape, so I become kind of drowsy and start to slow down at this time of night. Has anyone experienced this???

Back on topic, I haven't really felt withdrawl symptoms. For me, it comes down to if I have ganja, why not vape it? I try not to vape during the day, but its nice at night and on weekends.

UPDATE: OMG, my eyes are getting red as well right now! and I am not even vaping or anything. This is very weird. I would not have expected this to happen with cannabis.

Even back when I smoked a lot and had periods of time when I'd smoke many times daily I never got any sort of "withdrawal" from taking a tolerance break or stopping smoking for periods of time.

I would just want to smoke or be high but I didn't do that.

It's not like drugs that actually do have withdrawal if you use/abuse them frequently like opiates, benzos, booze, speed, or even nicotine and caffeine.

Some people apparently do have issues with abusing Cannabis but it's subjective and what's "abuse" to one person is just "heavy" use to another person. I've heard that for some people Cannabis can be psychologically addictive.

I have on friend for whom this is probably true, I think he has a ver addictgive personality,in his youth he has been an alcoholic, he has smoked(!) antidepressants, currently he just smokes way too much tobacco(his quit-attempts last 1-2 hours tops) and smokes weed daily
and he admitted once to me when we were smoking together that weed is practically an addiction to him
but he did succeed at a bet with another friend that he couldn't smoke weed for a week, but during that week he drank a lot more, so he kind of substituted irt with alcohol, and on the last day he tried to convince me not to tell that other friend so he could smoke with me(I said I couldn't garantue anything)

so yes for some people it can be psychologically addicting, but those people are generally sensitive to addictons, and I think it's better such people smoke weed then drink a lot of alcohol, if they have to use one thing

When i stop? I just stop craving random foods and taking naps in the middle of the day. And i laugh at stupid things a little bit less. I do more physical activities because its harder to entertain myself in my own head, but thats about it. And I usually vape 3-6x a day, but small amounts.

I've been a daily user for the better part of 45 years. The only times I have stopped were due to sickness, hospitalization, and one time when I was applying for a job in a school district where they tested. I would be considered a heavy user. Like AG, I don't feel right unless I'm a little medicated.

While there were no physical withdrawal symptoms, the psychological or emotional "withdrawals" were all consuming. I thought about getting high constantly. I also, during the break for the job, started drinking more to compensate (I usually don't drink alcohol anymore), especially in social situations. And this didn't get better with time. I'm definitely in a better place, mentally, when I am using. That said, I've been thinking a t-break might be a good idea. But thinking and doing are two different things, eh? ;)

yes. as well as i can "get high" without herb (not same exact high, but very similar), think there was another thread in here more on topic to that. its a state of mind, and its your mind.

Ok, so excercise and nuts, or basically acting healthy, may mitigate the effects - that makes sense

Now, I know scientists have found that pot withdrawal is actually like opiates withdrawal (can't find link), and I've been noticing the physio component a lot more

i've been ignoring my health - not walking the dog, not walking

i've been using the skills from anger management class to do thought stopping and thought replacement techniques, it's helped turn down the volume (mood logs too)

I have doubts about my level of use, but don't want to stop, just want to get better - i have to believe moderation is an attainable goal towards equilibrium in my life, and i'm going to stop wondering about that now (for a while)

Remember "Doctor Cozy Carlisle" (Robin Williams) in "Dead Again?"

"there are only two types of people in this world, smokers and non-smoker, and it's our job to figure out which we are and BE THAT PERSON,"

Hi,

If there is cannabis available to me then i'm the type of guy who usually consumes it all until there isn't any left. Although i'd prefer to avoid transitions (from intoxicated to sober) it DOES happen, which means i definitely dislike breaks somehow...

When i was a smoker this topic could have got a counterpart ("What Happens When You Start?"): it's about the physiological changes that used to occur in me minutes BEFORE i got actually intoxicated, while i was still sober.

Being a new vaporist (i discovered the virtues of vapor on Valentine's day), i don't have a "ritual" yet but i suspect that once i do such a phenomenon might occur again: briefly put, it might be interesting to know if self-induced physiological changes and breaks are linked!

In other words, i wonder if those who live through the breaks easily are also those who don't get a cold nose (etc.) while they prepare (the ritual) to consume their cannabis.

lol, a cold nose:lol:
I remember that in the beginning I did have such a pseudo-high just before I actually smoked/vaped(don't know anymore when it was so don't know if I already vaped), I remember usually having it when grinding my weed by hand and when I smelled it I got a bit of a high-like active/excted feeling
but I don't have that anymore
and it could also be related to the smell, since now on the ocassions I taste my weed(my sense of smell isn't that good, altough it seems to improve the last few days) I usually get an awesome high from just tasting/smelling it, a very satisfactory feeling just like when you've had a good meal and taking the first bite of a very delicious desert
so I'm still wondering how big a role the terpenes actually play in the high, because maybe that could explain why I retain my common sense and ability to act completey sober no matter how much weed I've had, and some of my friends get retarded from bigger quantities
altough it could also be just my psyche, I also have never really lost control over myself with alcohol(my boundaries do become looser etc, but I always remain in control and never do really stupid stuff, also I can still act kind of sober when I'm drunk altough I will make some mistakes with words)

Well, prepare yourself for a good laugh because i haven't told the best part yet...

As a hashish smoker there was smell indeed. Also, i didn't use a grinder; instead, my ritual consisted in a process which most people would consider too complex: it began with making tiny spheres of hashish (that alone was involving), then i painted colour graduation lines with chineese ink on my cigarette paper, then i built a layer of fine sorted blond (Drum) tobacco on which i pourred the tiny hashish spheres in an even manner... I rolled it up, made the density right with my fingers to promote proper burning then, once i was satisfied with my masterpiece, i inserted it inside my "tokeu", prior to ignition. The funny thing is that as i was typing and proof-reading the present post my nose started to feel cold again and, no, i'm not the least bit intoxicated!...

hmm, drum

good rolling - never thought of adding hash

i used to get physio before synthetics, and sometimes when i'm tweaking on a project i start to remember the sensations of tweaking on drugs

there was something new about brain chemistry and cannabis being like opiates, and so the withdrawal is real

the links between our thoughts and our feelings, that's the secret of the universe...i'm just resistant to jotting down my mood logs and getting familiar with what's going on behind the scenes, tho i know that would help

@egzoset
Why did you paint lines on the papers? Just for fun or was it some type of measuring system? Never heard of that before.

The colour elements were graduation lines, mainly, but i often liked to play with colours when i wasn't in a hurry... So, the painting had two functions: utilitarian and esthetical. I did it in the same mood as when i peel off potatoes, listening at the clock in a silent kitchen: i like to peel off potatoes, listening at the clock in a silent kitchen because it lets my mind wander and it brings peace of the mind, go figure!

I KNOW that is directed towards more light users, but I just wanted to update this. I was vaporizing heavily- multiple times every day. Im now on day 10 of my break, and I just started to get those really very vivid, sometimes even scary, dreams. Im reaching the thc 'half life', being 10 days clean. I stopped cold turkey btw, didnt try to cut down at all, just stopped on a whim.

I might come and update this further into my break if I feel the need.

I have gotten mild effects simply from grinding and handling flowers or even from a big inhale of the contents of a jar, so you're not alone or crazy to think that.

As for the original question:
I'm a light user and don't experience any withdrawal symptoms. I only notice the lingering effects the next day, a light hangover if you will, if I have partaken the previous day.

Back in the summer where I was a heavy hitter quite frequently, I did notice some withdrawal symptoms after taking a break or quitting for a while. Most if it was subtle and is probably not worth mentioning, but psychologically I found it quite noticeable that I would become irritable very easily and also just had a general sense of uneasiness and depressed mood level.
