Time for a desktop vape...EQ or DBV?

Hi All

I've had a pretty nice christmas and I'm looking for a new desktop vaporizer. I've been using my solo a whole lot and I'm tired of the auto-shutoff and the limited bowl space.

I'm looking mostly at the ExtremeQ (180$ shipped) or the Da Buddha.
I'll be mostly using it with my bong but I'll also use it direct draw

Just about all 7th floor products deliver in the 'hard hitting' category. I think that you will find excellent functionality with BOTH units, but for the sake of the 'what if' - life would appear to be easier with the EQ (in your neck of the woods)

In other words, if either had to get sent in for repair, Arizer is up there with you (no customs)

But if you'd only take "hard hitting" in the equation, what should I go with?

if it is either or... I have owned both, so DBV.

I have also owned both but I prefer the EQ. It's all about what you need/like in a vape, just but happy to know that they are both great vapes so you can't lose in your choice.

I went from the EQ to the DBV's bigger brother the SSV and would never go back.

My number one concern about the EQ was the air path. The air is drawn in over a circuit board that contains capacitors. Any product that falls from the cyclone bowl can easily find its way into the EQ's innards, causing potential for mold and bacteria (organic material).

Sorry if it sounds like I'm bagging on the EQ, I really enjoyed using it (minus the preheat times and getting burnt by the cyclone bowl). But if I would have known about this beforehand it would had changed my mind.

Would love to try the Underdog out. I've heard nothing but great things about it.

+1 on the dog. The silicone stems make bowl size adjustable, but the farther you get from the heater opening the cooler temps at the screen so kind of a trade off. Nothing huge, a shade or two lighter than standard placement. Dave does (did?) offer some kind of 'XL' glass stems with a huge ass bowl in them. It's a reliable little machine that even my first time use (with any vape) was able to blow some nice clouds.

Better through water.

Being that the OP said that he/she is getting tired of using a vape with a limited bowl space and that the vaping will be done mostly through a bong, I gotta recommend the LSV.

But if it had to be between the EQ and the DBV, I would opt for the DBV, unless the vape is going to be used for party situations more than just occasionally, because nothing beats a bag for those situations. I also don't like the air path that the EQ requires and being that the DBV has no moving parts or electronic circuitry, there is less to go wrong on the reliability front.

I was looking at the LSV...a lot! But I decided it wasn't worth almost double what I'm paying for the DBV. Also, no Canadian supplier that I've already used carries it.
Btw, the thing about the air path in the eq did help ;)

Alright, just canceled my order! Thanks lwien!
Does anyone know if the LSV's Water Pipe Adapter works on Stemless bongs (90° angle and not much space for the bowl)

I'd need an adapter right?

Regarding the WPA, I strongly suggest that you get the "shorty" version of it in that it places your herb a bit closer to the heating element so that you don't have to crank up the heat as much as you would have to do with the standard WPA.

cool, LSV FTW!

I chose DBV because your vaping within 5 min instead of 20 and the vapor is better IMO.

Cheers!

I think the fatty would be great when you have multiple people hitting the LSV in that you won't have to reload as often..........just stir and hit, but for solo use, I still prefer the shorty.

I agree with the basic facts that you present, such as the air path concerns. But I have seen plenty of DBV's stop working, in some cases it just wouldn't turn on anymore, and other cases the shitty and very cheaply applied JB-Weld that is used to fix the base that the heater seats on would just give in, leaving one with a very loose and wobbly heater that is both unsafe and just not acceptable.

That JB-Weld issue has happened to one of my DBV's as well as two of my friends. And with production in China I would imagine QC is even worse now. Of course 7th floor has great customer service(as does Arizer IMO) and gladly fixed all these issues for free, the only cost is the user's time. My extreme has never failed yet, even though it should have way more potential too.

Also, since I mentioned the fact that the DBV is now produced in China, I feel it is important to say that the Extreme is still made in Canada, as far as my knowledge, so please correct me if wrong. Neither are American made unfortunately, but I'll support and trust Canadian labor and inspection much more than Chinese.

Also, it's nearly impossible to combust in the Extreme, however many times I have seen a DBV become an accidental combustion device. I just won't own a vape that combust so easily, that's exactly what I am trying to avoid in the first place. :)

Both great vapes, this is just more evidence that you need to research and decide what you need and like in a vape.

Now I know why these threads are pointless ahaha

Pointless? Why? To me, having a difference in opinions and perspectives is exactly why threads such as these are NOT pointless.

I'm really torn up between the LSV or Vriptech's Heat Wand and the HI or UnderDog after seeing some bong hits from them (IloveBoobs) although I worried that the logs and the LSV would not work/fit with a Stemless bong (I do have a RooR as well).

I might add that I also own a Solo, so I'm looking for less drag and bigger hits (much bigger if possible, although it's quite satisfying with some kief in there :p )

Haha I'm actually REALLY stuck between the LSV or Vriptech Heat Wand hehe
Unless the HI's wait list isn't too long (shorter than a month, which I highly doubt :p)
Maybe if I get one of those I'll be content enough not to want a Cloud :p

I'm not too worried about durability of the Heat Wand...for comparison, I've had my RooR Lil' Sista for over 6 years (daily driver for 5 of those years). Though I wouldn't carry it to a friends home maybe I would bring the LSV.

I also like all the add-ons on the LSV and the fact you can use it Direct Draw and the multitude of adapters/accessories.

I do like the VWH for the smaller size, bigger hits and compatibility with all my bongs without adapters

Definitely more than a month - more like 6. The UD's are ready to ship and they currently have $165 twigs. But then the LSV is also priced very nicely.

what do you mean by adapters? there is a wpa in 14mm and 18mm, no need for adapters.

I think between those two the choice is between versatility and durability vs pureness of taste.

I mean that since it is stemless the bowl is very close to the tube...so I'm unsure if the log vapes or the LSV would fit in there.
Since the VHW's bowl is angled it would fit the VHW easily since it's really thin.
