Three-year-old girl's epilepsy seizures have fallen drastically due to cannabis

The parents of a three-year-old girl with epilepsy claim that since being treated with medical cannabis her daily seizures have fallen from more than 100 a day to fewer than 10.

Addyson Benton’s family moved to Castle Rock, Colorado from their home in Ohio to legally purchase a specially designed cannabis-extract for her treatment.

The marijuana, which is administered through a patch, contains THCA, a biosynthetic precursor of THC, the active component of cannabis.

wow! so they gave her synthetic thca patches and then next real oil. interesting about the thca part that never comes up mainstream, only CBD ever does.

They don't have to just claim good results. Seizure treatment seems to be the #1 accepted medical benefit for mj, aside from the old standbys of anti nausea and appetite improvement. Even my backward state has passed legislation allowing CBD treatment for seizures, although the requirements for use force patients and the doctors to jump through numerous hoops. Both CBD and THCA have antispasmodic benefits.

Man, I can't speak enough about cannabis and epilepsy.. I posted this in a different thread, but I'll share it here too:

"I have a rarer form of Epilepsy and was randomly diagnosed at 17. After a few years of attempting different anti-convulsants that never worked and dealing with their terrible, mood altering side effects (Keppra, Tegretol, Lamictal, Zonisamide to name a few), my parents and friends kept pushing for me to try cannabis..

I finally gave in and got a Pax, and began using MJ daily. I haven't had a single seizure since my first vape hit and haven't looked back."

This type of Epilepsy is no where near as severe as Dravet Syndrome, but it made my life hell. And I think the seizure medications were just as bad. You're like a zombie, don't want to eat, and get random bouts of anger. And I was still having break-through seizures on those, so what was the point? I feel like the majority of sufferers are unable to obtain full control with pharmaceuticals, and have to suffer through messy side effects too. I don't wanna say cannabis is harmless, but I'd take it over having seizures or the stuff they had me on before any day.

I really can't wait until dispensaries finally open in my state and I have access to the strains I need. It's been legal medicinally for a year here, but no dispensaries. Buying is always a gamble, when I run into great body strains like purple kush, it's seriously a God send. Strains like Sour Diesel don't fly over well tho.

Sorry for the long post, all I can say is, if you or someone you know has some type of uncontrolled seizure disorder, definitely point them in the direction of MJ.

yours is the ten thousandth post I've seen saying that cannabis worked better than what doctors gave them for the condition and they say all the positive cannabis use is placebo. I'll take that placebo over severe medication withdrawals any day.

Hahaha, it's sad there are still people who doubt the therapeutic potential of cannabis. A lot of people are going through unnecessary suffering because of it.
