Great Scott!
Get one while they last....

http://www.w9tech.com/the-hammer-top/

Edit: Mods, sorry, I meant to post this in Persei thread, please transfer if needed. Thanks!

I get the feeling other thermovape owners might also be interested :/

Thanks. $40 seems like a lot. What else can I use "the hammer" for once I get that working? I'll spend the $40 but I need to make sure I can clean the smell out of the bottom of the persei too.

It's a bit expensive (less than luna) but I've been keen to get my hands on W9's new 8 vaporizer. Like the Luna, it is an all mechanical mod, and completely user rebuild-able. I am hoping that W9 can allow us to fire the EO carts more consistently on the 8 than I've experienced using my Luna. However, given the closure of TET, I am not sure how long my EO carts will last without an option to service them.

Regarding the hammer top, I do not know much about it, as I do not have one.

The Hammer top eliminates the need for holding down the button during use. It was originally designed to work with a ceramic heating rod (called the Hammer) to turn it into a portable and battery operated herb iron. Press the button once and it's on. Press it again and it turns right off. They've been discontinued because new tops are coming out soon, which will offer the Hammer capabilities along with a touch button function instead of a button that actually moves.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the new tops will supposedly be the final version, meaning no more "new things around the corner" (that drives me nuts too, trust me!) for the tops. Time will tell.

Has anyone heard of this,
  • HERCULES SR-74
  • Omicron
Looks similar to a thermovape cartridge on the inside. I wonder about it

I have both. The omicron cannot supply enough power for the SR-74, thus a Persei/8 is necessary.

...or the omicron will work, but only with the core power supply.

IMO, the Hercules cart is an excellent alternative to the TV EO carts.

I still am clinging to the thought that something new is on the horizon. I thought the original founder Noah started Thermoessence Tech. because his mom died of smoking. Noah left for OTHER projects? (OF am I correct on these facts?) IMO that is something that you just can't start and walk away from. Thermovape has superior quality and superior vapes. I'm telling you something is in the works for Christmas!! Anyway that's what I just asked for on my early letter to Santa! :D There's always HOPE! :brow:

True rumor. However, AFAIK he's gone back to being a Doctor (Surgeon I think?), a more 'hands on' way to help folks I guess. That seems like a full time job to me. He might be up to something in the field wherever he is, but nobody I asked had any information to offer.

Hopefully someone else will step up the the challenge of providing the best high tech vapes possible to us.

Anything can happen, of course. Let's all think good, pure thoughts.........

I might have to pick up a herc, but then I'd also have to buy a new persei because mine smells like burnt electronics and the top is fried.

I noticed on the site they seem to sell every part other than the top?

Well, that blows. Would have been nice if someone would have said something sooner. I was all in on TET with two Ceras and a Luna thinking they'd take care of me for the long term. I've been meaning to get into some W9 stuff though, I guess this is my incentive.

I was super disappointed in TET's closure.:disgust: So I kinda rebelled with my Luna cart! I got some shitty oil that gummed it up to hell so I took out my hex key and opened her up to find the ceramic covered in a black goo! This was after I soaked it in ISO for like a week.:D I then boiled it for like 20 min, nothing so I took vice grips (very gently) and held the pieces over the flame on the stove and burned it all off the ceramic! I then iso'd and boiled again then let dry. Then I got some GOOD oil and loaded her up and presto! She worked good as new! So I guess since TET closed I have to look on the bright side this fucker will last a while because I will keep the GOOD in and the BAD out! If I got another year or so out of It I would be happy!:brow:

It would be cool if you could post a video of how you dismantled the cart. I was told the company advised its customers to not do this and it would void warranty but i think at this point its ok to mess with it. I would also like to clean out all the gunk and start fresh. I was told by ____ that some of his team would use a torch to get all the gunk off the ceramic and what not. If you dont want to post a video what tool did you use, a hex key? then what..thanks

you just loosen the screws, take them out, pull the cart straight down. It will come out as one inner piece and the ceramic top wafer for the second piece. It's pretty sturdy to mess with. I din't have a torch so I improvised and used the gas flame on my stove top. When it is all cleaned and dry just pop in the ceramic wafer for the top piece then slide the inner core into the cylinder piece making sure your screwholes are lined up. Then the important part:myday: DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE SCREWS!!! Tighten them just enough to where they are just showing resistence to be safe and you Luna should work good as new!:)

I'd like to know too! The 0.035" hex keys I've purchased locally do not turn the screws in my EO carts (slightly too small...I believe).

Thought I would pass along this EO torching procedure with pictures. Looks like this could be the best option at this point for those that have a cart gunked up beyond normal cleaning techniques.

Here we go for all the do it your selfers, Tools needed- Super tiny screwdriver or allen wrench, lighter, long pair of tweezers and a steady hand.
1, take out screws
2, gently pry up (evenly) the core and pull out straight
3, you might have the wafer stuck to the core so watch out, you will notice build up around the core
4, burn off the wafer and wash, repeat if necessary. it should almost turn completely white.
5, burn off the core, wash and repeat.
6, take out the battery in the cera and gently screw in the core but not all the way so it wont get stuck
7, after a couple 20-20-20 burns it should start to turn bright red and glow. let cool completely
8, take out battery and unscrew the core. now gently pick away at the carbon buildup but not the ceramic. depending on how bad the clogged ceramic you might have to do a ISO soak and rinse and burn just to get all the gunk out.
9, it should start to turn white but probably not completely. When you go to put it back together make sure everything is cool to the touch that way things wont be expanded by the heat.
10, reverse procedure for putting it back together but DO NOT over tighten the screws. That's it you have a like new cera and you now understand how it works. Totally love mine and I use it exclusively for my meds, but it is flawed by design imo because it seems like that particular piece is designed to be thrown away and replaced which I do not like. Peace

Let me know how it goes. I haven't done it to mine yet, but am considering it. Debating if I should just give up on it and look for my next "quality" EO device/cart.

I bought mine from McMaster Carr. .035 inches (.9mm) is the correct size. Problems taking it apart could well be other than wrench fit, they can get quite stuck (especially when cold). You have to be very careful with force, there's less than one full thread on the screw engaging the sleeve inside, damage the threads and you're SOL.

Then again, if the cart's a 'write off' anyway???? I guess I favor torching them assembled (even the SS ones) since I'm sure some fraction of guys will destroy their carts trying to take them apart and reassembling.

The ceramic wafers are propitiatory, they are not available anywhere (of should not be.....). They are custom made for TV.

This sure seems like a simpler alternative...I think I'll torch entire unit until opening of cart is a necessity. Thanks!

Only birdshit and fools
If you damage the ceramic wafer you can use an air stone from a fish aquarium. Just get a dremel and shape it to fit. Another thing is heat up the cart before disassembeling it. I posted a complete disable/cleaning/reassembly with pics in the cera thread a few months ago. It's really pretty easy, the only way to screw it up is over tighten the screws, or break the ceramic Rod in the middle.

Really? You're sure the glue used is safe, especially at the temperatures we're talking about? What sort of adhesive is used? I honestly don't know, but I bet it doesn't meet FDA requirements?
