Thermal shielding on GonG bowls?

Anyone know what the product/material companies are using to shield the bowls? It seems to be a thermal resistant plastic of some kind, usually sitting over one end of the bowl so it doesnt get too hot to pick up.

Anyone know what this is, or what could be used to replace it?

Gim, if you are referring to the top of an Extreme Cyclone bowl then it would be silicone, it looks like they dip them in soft or molten silicone after the glass is made. If you are looking to replace it, then I would say the easiest way is to get some good silicone tubing in a suitable diameter and cut a piece off the end to make a sleeve to replace the original.
