Anyone tried using butane that isn't "refined"? Unfortunately I couldn't find any butane around here that even has the word "refined" or "filtered" in it. They're all just generic ones for cheap lighters.
Will it likely just ruin the unit if I use those kinds of butane?

Hi...new to the site...great info here.
I just got my Wispr. I love the way works. But I am having a technical problem. ...it wont shut off.
Even with the starter switch all the way up (no red visible) the device is still on. Last night I used it for the first time and at the end of the night it would not turn offf. Ultimately it kept running until it finally ran out of Butane.
Called customer supprt today and they blamed the butane - I used cheap Zippo butane (only filled it once since it was my first time using it), but now I switched to quadruple refined butane. But the problem still occurs.
Has anyone had similar problems? Any advice.
I realise the answer to my question is here on this forum somewhere, but I'm having difficulty finding it... how do I change the mesh screen on my beautiful but now-somewhat-clogged WISPR? I've been given a small bag of intriguing metal tools, but I lack the nous to work out what to do. Or maybe it's more that I'm worried I'll wreck it somehow... Would someone mind SHHHHing me in the right direction? Cheers!
Keeko - I dont use the rods for cleaning that often.
i remove the filling chamber from the rubber straw/mouthpiece then use something to dislodge the C clip - usually the handle of a teaspoon. Once the C clip is loose and removed the actual screen should fall out of the chamber. if it doesnt, then use the cleaning rod with the thread on the bottom. it screws into the the bottom of the chamber and pushes the screen out. i then soak all the components of the filling chamber in Iso overnight and clean them up with a cotton bud in the morning-it comes up good as new. If its really gunked up and the screen (and/or C clip) doesnt want to dislodge, try soaking it for a few hours in Iso. this should loosen things up a bit so you can remove the parts to clean properly. I soak the rubber mouthpiece parts in warm soapy water and then clean with a pipe cleaner or cotton bud. its worth investing in some spare screens so theres always a clean one to use.
you will notice a big difference once cleaned - it works MUCH better.
I've just made my faulty wispr work again by taking it apart and cleaning it. Had it for about a year, and gradually it's been acting up lately. I'd have to click several times to light it, and then a few days ago it just stopped heating all together. You could hear the gas flow, but the spark wouldn't light it.
It's a bit nervewrecking opening it the first time, but it's quite easy with a knife and a screwdriver (saw a guide on youtube). Looking up in the heating mechanism from below i could see a bit of dirt or dust. Removed it with a pin and a good old nintendo blow, now my wispr turns on in one click like when i bougt it. Must have been blocking the flow of gas.
Also stretched the springs in there a bit. Lighting mechanism became crisper and the gas shuts off properly again.
So there's hope for a faulty wispr if you've run into the same problems as me. One warning though: Small mechanical bits that need to be put together properly. Study it well before prying apart and cleaning.
Hey Guys,
I've had my WISPR for just over 1 month and I'm experiencing the butane sputtering problem. I have contacted IOLITE but have not received a reply. I am hoping someone from Iolite will see this post and contact me to rectify this issue. I'm extra p****d because I over paid for my product. I paid $338 CAD from Toronto Hemp Company which is located downtown Toronto. I really don't want to be without my WISPR for the warranty claim, Iolite should send me a brand new LATEST model Wispr ASAP.
Should an Iolite employee come across this post, please contact me at dasilva.neil@gmail.com
