The WISPR vaporizer

I have a Wispr, after three Iolites. I kept buying them, because each one was successively cheaper, 130 for my last one from amazon. They break.

Clicker died on one after years of use, got a leak in the other and so had to hold the sides, tilt upside down and wait, then click and the butane would spark. Got it stolen from me. Third one, well, something happend inside and it broke. But for 130 bucks, I still say its worth it, and im pretty broke on a regular basis.

The Wispr- Looks good, sexy but not stealth, but can still be overlooked if set up on a table conspicuously. INDEED it has stronger hits than a working iolite (which seems hard to find) LOVE this thing like I LOVED all my iolites. Seems to run out of fuel a little quick for claimed improvment, but this thing rages. Only a tumble onto carpeted floor a week or so ago and its running strong. The only thing is the push down button, simplified for clarity, feels like sheisse. kinda put me off..

oh and once its off, the gas stays off, no cycling extra butane. seems like it purges it out though when you turn it off with a little squirt.. not sure.

Oh wait, it died after consistent use, just wouldnt turn on again. NOT SURE WHY YOU TURNED IT OFF, DAN, :ko: but no more worky for no really obvious reason. So im doing the purge thing, letting it sit out in the sun and shit, who knows. maybe ill smack it like a pack of monkees, or pack of smokes or whatever that guy said. fucking crap.

I dunno, I used a MFLB and it sucked- even burnt it a bit i thought i saw burnt smudges in the corners. but it was one use, mighta been bad batteries, and i know how some vapes take some getting used to. my point is, the O&B shit works well when it does. THey just break a lot.
My suggestion if you have skrilla, buy 2 at a time, one breaks, send it in, do the swap.... economy of a mindful consumer

does anyone know how to use the cleaning tools that it came with?

i know these are basic questions.. but im new to using a vape

thanks a lot

jaekwong: The vape needs to be hot when you inhale. So waiting for it to cool down before inhaling is not right. Also it will not cool down - it will just stop hetaing for a while and when the temp starts going down it heats it up again (heating cycles). The vapor you will be inhaling should be cooled down in a mouthpiece. I haven't heard of a vape than burns throat yet.

I'm with you 3serieSensi,
Though as long as I can get 2 iolites for the cost of one wispr,
it will be awhile before I give it a try.

I have an iolite that's within a month of being 3 yrs. old. I use it quite a bit and it's still working fine. It's not a simple design so reliability hasn't been (and may not ever be) it's strong point, but many, many units are still working after years of use. We don't get a lot of people registering just to say they've never had a problem with their iolite. It's much more likely for people to get angry about a defective unit and post on multiple forums about what a POS it is.

I used a MFLB and it sucked
It's more likely that your technique sucked. The iolite (or wispr) is nearly as easy to use as a bag filler. You just have to avoid sucking on it as hard as you can. The LB is a different story but it doesn't suck. If it really doesn't work right, that's where the lifetime warranty comes in.

Like Seek said, once the unit is up to vaping temp, it doesn't really matter whether the light is on or not. It's a thermostat and the unit is going to turn the heat on any time the temp drops a little. You won't feel any temp difference when hitting, light on or off. The only time I pay attention to the light is just to make sure the unit is heating.

I inhale when the light is on or off. The best time is to inhane right before it turns off.

The front is really hot. And if you inhale a lot, the mouth piece can get to the point where it is too hot for your lips to touch.

Mine starts up very quick. Just make sure you are using Vector butane.

The WISPR is very unnoticeable. I have it sitting on my shelf like a toy, no one knows or even bothers to ask what it is (I have brown).

Tip: Order from Vape World. The customer service is quick and super nice ;)

vant,
hey all, after being a vivid browser of these boards for the last few months i decided to join after buying myself a WISPR. after reading all reviews about it and having the spare coin to spend, i decided the portable vape i was going to get was this. i only got my EQ 3 months ago so am very new to vaping but i wont be going back to burning at all as i have now found my calling when it comes to my mary jane. so i think my Q is pretty good for a home vape but when at work i love to have a toke to make my day seem that bit better and easier. so i read all the reviews and pro's and cons and then came to this new thing that the makers of the iolite [what i was thinking of getting] brought out. so i noticed not many reviews have been done, so here is another to help out. when i first got this i was heaps excited. i read about the foul taste so i filled the machine and turned it on and laid it down with a fan facing towards the mouthpiece. i was going to time it but inbetween got baked and forgot the starting time, was about 2 hrs anyway :D so i then half loaded my bowl and gently pressed down with my pinky. waited 3 cycles and had a puff. not a nice experience, taste was foul and i wasnt to keen on the heat factor. i decided to let it go another cycle infront of the fan again and did notice the taste only slightly on the 3rd refill.....by this stage i just wanted a sesh through it so sucked it up and off i went. tried different breathing techniques and bowl sizes and have found half to just over half full does the job for me. i wasnt to keen on the heat i was breathing in so for now i got a juice box straw that fits perfectly in the mouthpiece....and it really cools it down considerably and it tastes alot better also. in time i will get a better quality extension to make it even better. the noise doesnt worry me too much but it is very noticeable when watching the tv although after the unit is on for a while the cylces are pretty quick. looks pretty good, the igniter has been working pretty good but has had a couple hiccups. prob my fault but i have found aslong as it is atleast a 1/4 full with butane it works most times first go if not the second. i do hold my igniter down and sorta prime it for 2 secs before the first click too which i find works a treat. hope that helps and was atleast a little bit informative :ko: [after looking it aint that informative :D] so what do i think.....it looks pretty good, my clicker works well although ive only had it for 2 weeks so time will tell. im getting good hits and it hits the spot as well....after 2 bowls im nice and cruisy :) one does the job aswell but 2 really hits the spot. the extension on the mouthpiece is needed though i think but everyone is different. i think it gets to hot . if ive missed anything feel free to let me know :D i just tried one of those abv skakes and its working nicely to be honest :) all in all im happy with my WISPR

Vector is good, but there are other high quality brands. No reason to use Vector only.

Same here. We have several reliable sellers carrying this vape, with FC discounts available.

The 1st click just starts the butane flow. That's never really been a problem with the iolite system. The 2nd switch (or click) -getting the heater on- has been the issue.

Edit- I continue to be impressed with the vapor hits the wispr puts out. Unless there's something wrong with mine it's clear to me that it runs hotter than the iolite, especially after it's been on a while. That may also be why the taste is an issue. This vape really does the job for me, but it's not something I'd use in the house for a tasty vaping session.

The WISPR seems really intriguing.. I hope it drops in price like the original Io eventually. I sometimes feel like a complete noob using my MFLB, inconsistent hits every bowl, the learning curve on this vape seems a lot more laid back.

Okay.. one of you that has taken the plunge talk to me about cleaning the mouthpiece bits please. I read that it is folding style. I enjoy soaking my IO parts in Everclear to recover the goodies left behind with the fixed temp and I wonder if that would be possible with the Wispr as well. Anyone cleaned theirs yet?? What's the verdict?? Thanks in advance :D

I have only cleaned mine with Dr Green so far, was waiting for somebody else to try melting their $36 straw before trying it with mine

According to the manual it is made from Silicone9150.

Yeah! In fairness that is the whole thing, herb chamber etc, but I do hope they bring out just the silicone part at a more sensible price.

Ok....the whole bowl apparatus, that makes a bit more sense.....still a bit pricey though

The curve here is just a very slight one. You barely have to turn the steering wheel. Draw speed is the only variable and it's not too touchy there.

You can remove the silicone stem-that and the part that goes around the metal herb chamber is one piece- then soak the herb chamber. I wouldn't soak the silicone stem, but a quick cleaning with ISO, then a hot water rinse, is probably OK. Don't hold me to that though, since I've never cleaned whip tubing with ISO. I just replace it. A cleaner with no solvent in it would be better though, and I'd pass on tryiing to reclaim any residue from the silicone.

I expect that parts will get cheaper when dealers get a supply. That was what happened with the iolite. At first, when only O&B had iolite parts, they were pricy.

Well my wispr is dead. It 's had a dodgy switch since new ie: wouldnt turn off first time
and lighting on first switch which i wasnt that bothered about but now it has a gas leak and wont hold the
gas it emptys from somewhere inside in about 1 minute, i think a split pipe or
something I have contacted O&B. Awaitng their reply

I bought my Wispr in July and today the gas just started leaking out from the bottom. I have never dropped it either. Also the on/off button got a lot harder to move. I usually use my Wispr 4 times a day.

This happened with my Iolite while refilling when I pushed the gas can in too hard. It got better in time. That valve is tiny, needs to be gentle with it.

Can anyone explain how the gas window works? I heard you have to flip the unit upside down to get an accurate reading or something. And how do I 'bleed' the unit when i first use it? Like to get the plastic and manufacturing chemicals off or something.

Received the WISPR some days ago, mixed feelings so far.. The taste is very plastic-like, but then again I'm hoping this'll fade over time. It hits better than I expected. I don't like the hissing sound, makes it very hard to use without going unnoticed imo.

I made a photo as size comparison between the WISPR and the Solo (and a regular lighter):

Yeah-bottoms up. You press the valve down to bleed it, although doing that when new, to get rid of whatever, isn't necessary. The butane tank is clean when new.

I wouldn't describe it as plastic like at all. The iolite has never been saddled with the complaint of plastic taste like the Vapir vapes. Unlike Vapir, O&B uses very high tech plastics. OTOH, unlike the iolite, I do find taste to be an issue with the wispr, although I really can't describe exactly what the taste issue is. :hmm:

It hits better than I expected.
Anyone complaining about the hits is making an unfair comparison. This really delivers the vapor.

I hope this wasn't a surprise to you. It's the #1 issue as far as stealth, and has been, since the iolite hit the market 3 yrs. ago. You CAN muffle the noise, although I wouldn't recommend cutting off the ventilation too much, for too long.

When O&B introduced the WISPR I was expecting it to to be more silent, like many of us. I knew about the thermostat sound before my unit arrived but still feel the name is somewhat misleading.

I'm sure you're right that it's not actually plastic, but there's definitely something that ruins the taste for me. Plastic was the first thing that came to my mind. I'm not implying it's unsafe to use or anything. Perhaps it's the somewhat warm airflow? I've only briefly used it, and will continue to use it throughout the week to form a better opinion.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad vape at all, but for the current price and given the competition from the Solo (although I'm aware it's not a 100% fair comparison) I don't see myself using the WISPR as main portable vape.

I'd agree that the name is misleading. Most people expected a less noisy vape with a name like that, but the first reviews shot down that expectation. The company doesn't do well with vape names. At least this time they didn't get threatened with a lawsuit.

I don't know that the taste isn't a plasticky one. I can't put my finger on it. But I don't remember any such issue with the iolite. Maybe I need to crank up the io and do a taste test. I do believe the wispr gets hotter after a while and runs hotter than the iolite. I've gotten some hits that made my eyes water.

I got a great deal on mine, and might have paid the FC discount price, but I wouldn't pay retail. Then again I have multiple vapes, including 2 iolites. Without a portable, I might feel differently. I don't have a lot of interest in the Solo. I'm more interested in stealth with a portable. I'll continue to use the LB and now the wispr instead of the iolite, depending on the situation.

max,
Hi i just signed up for this forum and get alot of helpful information here so i thiught i would give my opinion on the Wispr, I've been using the arizer extreme Q which I am extremely happy with , but I also needed something more portable , a friend of mine had the iolite and I thought It was pretty good but didn't like the plastic inhaler part so I thought I would give the this new Wispr a try , I've had it for two weeks and I've been enjoying it a lot! I'm not gonna say its any quieter than the iolite just seems the same but the folding tube is awesome , the vapor it gives out compared to the iolite is a huge difference I've also realized that it saves me a lot of bud I'm good just with one pack, if I do 2 packs I'll be sky's the limit!, lights up very quick haven't had problems with that , also make sure you stock up lots of butane cause your going to need it, but all in all great product (so far) as of 2 weeks very pricey but oh well just keep using the Wispr and maybe you will forget about it :p and the taste is a little plastic-like but either you get used to it or it goes away after a while but it does the job.

I always feel ridiculously aware of my Iolite's sound. I know it isn't as loud as I think it is but honestly, it might as well be roaring based on how it seems to me. Much as I love the new design, folding straw, and the idea that it hits a little heavier, if it is indeed louder that will probably be the deal breaker if I'm ever thinking about one of these.
