The TRVP RDA

Hi, bbvapesbrvnd (behind the popular ecig atty B2K RSA) has designed an atomizer , TheTRVP RDA, is geared towards concentrates. The thought in the design process was to address issues with current setups and tweak things for wax usage (instead of macguyvering e-juice RDA's).

I've told the designers that this is the builder's dream. It can handle many different configurations and mesh will be utilized for wax, I think for the first time!

I have a prototype and have tested it pretty extensively, though I'm limited at the moment with no ceramic inserts yet, they're being produced. Pre-orders are open now.
My findings already have been extremely positive and I will post all my videos and pictures here, any questions I'm more than happy to answer.

Cool - glad to see other e-cig makers jumping on the concentrate bandwagon. Doubt this RDA will be a game-changer, but it sure looks fun to play with. In one of the pics, it looks like they're running mesh along the bottom with a regular coil on top, in parallel. That should take care of any reclaim.

Hi, yes you nailed it! the mesh should get anything that drips off the coil, not having to deal with reclaim will be nice. The designers telling me that we'll be able to stack the mesh as well ,that could be interesting.

Here are all the pics so far, remember this is the prototype and I was very limited in testing as I do not have the ceramic inserts (cups) yet, but I am very impressed with the efficiently, taste, vapor production and effect. Production units will be matte black and will not have the honeycomb design for the air intake on the topcap. Better to have a solid cutout to deal with any oil that may get into that area.

Got one! Decent first impressions. The first build is just a mesh a strip in the ceramic crucible.

Upon removing the mesh strip, found a significant amount of reclaim in the crucible. Did not get the full effect of this 20mg shatter dose. Disappointing - hoped it would work better out of the box.

The mesh strip heated unevenly, mostly above the dab. Need to dry fire first to be sure the heat is where it needs to be - on the bottom. If this doesn't improve performance, maybe try using 2 mesh strips or a conventional coil.

Edit: Worked better with two stacked strips, but this lowers resistance to 0.05 Ohms. Some mods call that a short.

Also tried 4mm coil made with AVS hex-core fused clapton wire.

Most of the dab just spilled out one side - needs to be melted in slightly.

The curved glass drip tip is a very nice feature. Also came with a spare ceramic crucible and about 10 mesh strips, or you can use easy-to-find Vandy mesh spools. For the price, you'd expect such a generous package. Would have preferred spring-loaded screws to hold the bracket up when mounting a mesh strip or coil.

Should this thread move to e-cig based portables now that it's available?

Hi the mesh strips are really not meant to be used on their own but there are a lot of people having success, I've asked the mods here to start a thread but I've gotten no response over the past month or so.... Look here for new content. Lots of users here getting amazing results including myself with almost no reclaim.

I tried putting the dab in the middle like that too but it actually doesn't work , its much better to put it on the top of that fat coil.

The mesh/coil in parallel sounds good, but the resistance of mesh strips is already low (~0.12 Ohms). Adding a second strip or coil cuts it in half. That's about as low as it goes.

Thanks for the link! Looks like the best results are filling the crucible with metal. Easy enough. Wanna try framed staples and vertebraid. Maybe some pretty pictures of Mohawk Aliens for coilporn.

For now, introducing dabstrips! Measured, portable and disposable. Just sandwich a dab between mesh strips and roll flat. Wrap a few in parchment paper like sticks of chewing gum. (This might be @stickstones idea from the Vandy Mesh thread.)

2 for 2 so far - minimal reclaim.

Still not getting the same flavor blast as the Molecule. Must be the tiny volume. This is more like earlier DIY results with e-cig gear. But it takes work to get those flattened Molecule coils firing evenly. There's less of that with the TRVP, especially with mesh.

The dabstrips were 3 for 5 - too much waste. Happy to finally report top-notch results.

A flattened coil, like in the Molecule. Making them daily, it's getting easier. AVS hex-core fused clapton, 7 wraps, 2.5mm. Hanging just below the rim of the crucible so there's room for airflow beneath. The atomizer top directs air diagonally downward into each end of the crucible, so you're drawing it up through the coil as the dab is vaporizing.

Nice, even glow.

~15mgs shatter with the top on.

Least reclaim and mess by far compared to mesh and cylindrical coils of several types.

Ok had this for a month now and YES it is as good as they say. The build deck is great it allows for really creative builds. The crucible is a great idea keeps reclaim in one spot. This is the first atomizer I owned where the top cap is not a pain to remove. Air flow control is just right not too airy. The build quality is right there with the big names in the RDA industry. If I had to knock it for something it would be because of no instruction manual in the box. Just a little info on suggested wire types and builds, and the standard warning about battery safety. If I could make a suggestion, include a premade coil so users can hit the ground running. I have a hard time leaving builds alone, the big open build deck just begs for creative coils. Would I buy another one if I lost this....INSTANTLY!
