Discontinued The Sublimator

interested. Damn it!!! That's another $500 gone!! That e nail a tor looks good!!! Wonder how much that one will be?

The unit with the whip looks like it's hard to clear, and has a tight draw. Was that the one you tried, Paka?

Yes, that was the one I tried. That whip has a smaller diameter than most but I didn't find the draw restrictive. I couldn't clear it because I'm just not used to taking huge hits. As I already mentioned, it was really smooth and I had a lot less urge to cough than I expected.

Check this out... go to the 15min mark, he explains the "camp fire" version he's also going to have available at some point. It looks interesting, either use a camp fire or torch to heat it. Then around the 20min mark he demonstrates it with a torch. At first he's just cooking off the machine oil with a torch, from them being new parts... skip ahead to 27min if you don't want to watch that part...

I suspect the timer portion is a safety add on, so far in almost all the vids I'm watching, nobody fusses with a timer, it just seems to be staying hot for repeat use. I realize there will be safety protocol to follow for selling to the public, I just don't see any examples of the timer in use in any of these vids so far.

Wonder if there is a way to override the timer? Maybe a code, or some sort of mod...

I'd like to know what kind of wattage this will pull to run.

This is from PV's thread:

Will have 4 models available: (once they get them)
- Adapt-A-Bong without timer <<:brow:
- Sublimator with timer
- TiTan E-Nailator, electronic domeless titanium nail, vaporizes only no sublimation
- UFO, externally heated sublimation

crap...now I am going to have to start scraping some $ together. I am really getting sold on the Sub!
WARNING!! VAS never ends...

So how does that one work? Do you have to buy a special glass tube?

It seems to be all parts except for the tube that would come with it if you were to purchase to whole kit. The metal top should go onto the base and should reduce condensing of the gaseous vapor onto parts(so more vapor into me ) . From what I see, a 29mm(?) ground glass tube should fit into the base with an additional accessory. An example http://www.sublimator.ca/product.php?id_product=26

That would be awesome if you could just use it without the tube...that's what I was hoping for, as it would be nice and compact, and heavy hitting :D

The timer is a recent addition. After a lot of testing it seems like for some reason after using the Sublimator people would forget to turn it off. Although it can run 24/7, a timer was added to mitigate risk of leaving it running unattended as well as to save on expensive hydro.

When using the timer, you first select your on time of either 15 or 30 minutes and then turn it on. It only takes 5-7 minutes to reach thermal equilibrium depending on your selected temp.

Hey PV, can you confirm whether the space travel kit can be used without the tube? Much appreciated!

That Space Travel Kit does look good. I don't know what I will end up with first, I just know I really like what I have been seeing so far.

Yes, its seems that, "Sublimation or not, in our opinion there is a lot more going on here than just vaporization."

Careful optimization of air flow and aerosol particle size (re)formation may be advances here. First, I presume everyone is aware that only the very smallest particles (of condensing essential oils) ever make it into the alveoli of the lung and, thus, get rapidly absorbed -- Smaller-sized particles vapor vs. heavier condensed globule-composed vapor is desired. The particulate/aerosol/condensate particle size distribution when inhaled is the primary determinant of inhaled dose pharmacokinetics (absorption and distribution). This is second nature to many, e.g., those heavily into using bongs, glass, etc. are seeking control of aerosol formation.

Advances may include:
1) The "material chamber" receives sucked-in heated air (conventional convection), seemingly using a relatively high thermal mass heating assembly with multiple inputs and outputs (nozzle) to induce a (ideally, a tornado-like) vortex. I presume, unstated by the manufacturer so far, that this vortex air flow causes the herb to be pushed around or, ideally, suspended in the hot air, with this much better and faster heating vs. it impinging and congealing/caking on its screen/filter.
2) Post-Primary Vaporization Revaporization/Reheating Combined with Atomization/aerosol Particle Size Control - This is probably the real advance. The "atomizer" appears to be a constricted, heated tube that gives a good temperature boost to the vapor-containing inhalation stream. Presuming this is enough to revaporize the vapor stream, this is followed by high-pressure release (or rather inhalation suction) and expansion. This is a classic method for controlled particle size aerosol (vapor) generation; and also recall Bernouli's Principle/Thermodynamics, with expansion cooling the vapor.

So, it seems technically feasible that such a design with rather conventional heater, but seemingly optimized for turbulence/efficient heating more than most vaporizers (which isn't saying much), with a downstream heater re-heating the already rather potent vapor stream, re-vaporizing it, followed by controlled spray-type aerosol generation (controlled more than most, and in the context of integration with the reheater) may well deliver much improved pharmacokinetics, i.e., be more efficient, provide more 'vapor' (more smaller particles), ultimately provide better absorption in the lung alveoli. I presume this is portrayed in the picture/diagram, with fewer, bigger globules in chamber #4 and then after the atomizer, much finer aerosol (more, smaller, more disperse globules).

Bottom line: Theoretically, presuming I'm interpreting the simple Sublimator schematic correctly, there could well be something significant being added by controlled reheating and reformation of vapor.

I can't top vap999's post .
That was a good read .

All I know is that seeing actual users getting ripped in those vids , sells it for me .
Especially the ones from MJ man and co. I've never heard of MJ man until now .
They're not short snip-its with fancy ' editing ' to confuse the consumer .
They show you from loading it and inhaling to exhaling , again , no fancy editing .

So they've already come out with a version 2 , by adding the timer .
And that's all they've changed in the upgrading to the unit ?
Meaning , the version 1 main internals work well and didn't need upgrading .

This is the Hot one to watch .

All of this is true, but you are forgetting one thing, reheating your vapor will accelerate thc oxidation into cbn, not make it more potent IF you want a high, and not a relaxant effect, minus the adrenaline rush. This adrenaline rush combined with the vapor, as well as temperature effect, is very important in why people think it is so "potent". Which is why we need to know those temperature settings. Also, you increase your chance of cooling the vapor down making it harder to absorb due to the air cooling off the vapor much more easier being that it in so close contact due to the atomizer forcing the two together then if you were to allow the vapor to just float where it needs to, and in this case that is our lungs. This is why you get reclaimed oil. The best vaporizer would be one where you get little to no oil condensed on the walls, as this means the vapor went into you.

I also have an issue with the claim that this reclaimed oil is the cleanest source available. You will have oxygen forced into the oil meaning it will be high in cbn, and will degrade faster overtime then say a water hash, which is really the cleanest concentrate available , besides Sam Skunkman dry sift, as nothing will get into the trichome except water, and even that can be dried off, resulting in nothing but, the trichome as it was harvested, being used when vaporized.

Back to the scheduled thread!
