Discontinued The Sublimator

The newer subs have a dc transformer (24v?), and incorporate some kind of rheostat/temperature feedback system. My older model is sensitive to voltage and ambient temperature fluctuations like yours is, I think all the older 120v ac units are like this as they have very simple electronics, just a dimmer into a heat sink.
Talking with Auberins on options to convert my old Sub into a Digital SUB!!!

Anyone know the MAX temp the head reaches?
For now i have asked to be able to control it to 700 Degrees Celsius, i know i will stay in the 300+ range only.

If this works and is reasonably priced, we could have a winner!

There is a digital temp sub, or you are working on a mod?

What did you have to do to mod it to get a digital temp readout?

Does anyone if there are any plans for an official digital temp sub?

Hex-Nail is working in developement of the option to drive the Sub with the Hex-Nail too:

Done & Done! We're excited to get out hands on it. Honhttp://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-sublimator.9708/page-243#post-1058642estly, after the quick research I did I might need to nab one for us after we see it in action.

ANY specs, sheets, measurements, etc. folks have help us find a good baseline. Send anything relevant my way: ava@hex-nail.com

And yes from what we can see it's a straight voltage change. We'll design a simple but accurate percentage (%) based UI for the mode that will provide a lot of extra steps in voltage for the Sub vs. a standard control box.

It really makes me happy to hear this. I worked in retail 10 years and had to deal with every type of angry customer out there for one reason or another. I always just wanted people to be honest with me and fair (when I had issues personally). I've tried to maintain that attitude of 'putting myself in someone else's shoes' when it comes to my personal business endeavors, too.

Most of the time, in my experience anyway, if you just tell a customer what the deals is/why there was a change, apologize and handle it to the best of your abilities immediately... They are almost always satisfied by the end. People aren't unreasonable, it just sucks to be left in limbo! Waiting just turns our bad for everyone involved by the end.

Watch the Hex-Nail thread.

I love the idea to get a high-tech E-Nail controller, which drives a regular E-Nail and the Sub too.

Pay one, get two - really nice - controllers.

Last announcement: Pre-orders for 360 $ only within the next 40 h!

Working on it!
Parts should be here next week and then I will start experimenting and will be taking pictures along the way!

If successful I will post a parts list and a how to! Cost so far is $100 for the controller and 2 thermocouples to test with.

Parts have all arrived finally!
Shipped from the States they crossed into Canada and were then promptly shipped off to the U.K. for a week and then back to Canada and on to me... Well traveled i guess!

The whole process took no longer than 30 minutes to disassemble the Sub timer box and connect it all to the new controller.
Testing has commenced with a warm up to 300 degree C core temp.
Will work my way around from there.
I will post results and some pics of the process if it is successful and worthwhile!

After a while testing the new setup, I think it is almost ready to be revealed!

I am using the Auberins RDK-200 controller and a K-Type thermocouple that I have placed at the junction where the head screws into the main arm.

I would love to be able to get a consistent reading so that the actual and displayed temp match up. At the moment I set it at 600 and the reading is around 500-510 Fahrenheit.

Perfect vapor for me with a medium brown ABV.

Also tried some red reclaim as my wake and bake and all I have to say is WOW!!!
The subs reclaim is very potent!

Pics and a video soon as I clean it all up!

Edit for a quick picture of it as it is now!
Had a load more dabs off this thing and they are insane! Free Dabs are the best!
I am also getting quite a bit of reclaim from my MiniVaps, which is a darker color but just as potent!

Any way, here is the setup as of now!
I want to remove the old heat shrink and redo it to encapsulate the thermocouple wire as well. Also on the hunt for decent cable to replace the old stiff one.

So here it is! My very old timer box sub, modded to be a Digital Sublimator!!

Nice job!!! I suppose it wasn't possible to get the thingamajiggie through the whatchamacallit?

LOL!! I know exactly what you are talking about!
Unfortunately it is sealed at both ends so threading it through was not an option...
I mentioned that it will be cleaned up once i buy suitable shrink wrap to cover the wires and handle as per the original.

And here is a quick video of it in action!
Temp of head is set at 500F or 260C.
Load is a smidgen spoon which equals 0,05g and strain is GSC.
I have also included a before and after pic. The ABV is on the dark side for me but i tolerate it well and do not cough. Very small doses for such a big machine but handled perfectly!
I really do like my Sub!

I might try and duplicate this, depending on what happens when I try and revive my infinity with my og sublimator dimmer. Unless I use the thermocouple with the infinity; I will see if it still works first.

I have a growing list of back-burner projects though, starting with my rosin rig

Yeah, it seems to work very well :cool:

Edit: Have you tested the Roor with Auberins controller & thermocouple ?
I'm following you with interest for my Herborizers :)

I have not yet tried with my other vapes...
But what i would recommend is looking towards China and getting an exact replica of the heating element made that includes a thermocouple. This will make it more accurate.

Did you do anything to tune the pid controller?

http://auberins.com/images/Manual/RDK-200_supplementary_v1.5.pdf

I'd be curious to know what the current pid settings are.

My homemade vape is basically the same thing: a heater inside a tube with the temps taken on the outside. If your settings are off the system won't be stable. My vape can settle down to a decimal of the set point after a little bit. I bet we can get yours to do the same with a little tweaking.

BTW your temps might be off because of a setting to pad the temps to roughly show the surface temp. Look for "temperature correction coefficient". You could prob use this to calibrate your probe?

I have changed a few settings and nothing really seems to help with the temp differential yet...
When i get some time i will try again and also contact Auberins as they offered to help as well!

I will def hit you up for some help @jojo monkey !!

I finally got around to rewiring my Sublimator!
The Digital Controller was removed and i am using it to control my Cloud+.
I wired the dial control straight inline with the heater, so no more timer box.

I would still love digital control on my Sub and will look into it!
For now, the testing has me extremely medicated and i gave up at 50% power...
Guess i should not have started with the Cloud+ first...

Now it is movie time! I love lazy Sundays!

Oh and home made carrot cake!!!

All your recent posts made me bust out the Sublimator just now. Cleaned the atomizer three times with PBW, dental picks, and a brush. It is the cleanest it has been in 3 years, and only took about a hour. PBW is the most effective way to clean the atomizer in my experience. Might pick up an ultra sonic cleaner this week.

Fc-UFO @37 watts, no water, xtra fine screen low in atomizer, OG stainless steel screen on top loaded with Gorilla Glue #4 in the bowl and Mazar x Skunk 1 rosin for a double decker. first hit to bring me back into Sub world woooooooo

@Been Vapin

Hope you are still enjoying those huge Sub hits!
Turned mine on again tonight and some OG Kush is on the menu.
Just started back at the gym a few days ago and everything hurts...LOL!
OG to the rescue!

Not sure why but i prefer to hit my Sub using the dry tube it came with.
A WT changes it somehow for me, not quite as strongly medicated perhaps.
The dry tube gets me there in two loads of 0,07g!
Both are whitewalled and done in one hit.
Flavor is pretty good at the dial position i am at, +- 65% and the ABV is a dark brown.
Effects are where it is at for me though! All aches and pains are lessened drastically for many hours.
This is my go to pain eradication tool!

For a more flavorful hit, remove the Heating head and allow tube to be cool to the touch, load up and place heater back on and hit! I always exhale once the vapor hits the top of the tube and then continue to the main event! I am always rewarded with massive amounts of milk!
One hit extraction!

Hey All!

I just made my order for the TI adapt-a-nail sublimator 3.0 today :) I chose the adapt-a-nail because I will be using concentrates about 80% of the time. I will upload some close-ups of everything once I receive them in the mail.

Also, I wanted to let everyone know that the guys at sublimator are planning on releasing a new wifi controller for the sub.

Here is the video explaining more:

This is actually some pretty exciting news as I was on the fence on ordering the sub due some of the problems with the monkey controller. I was planning on purchasing the hex-nail to pair up with the sub but there hasn't been any confirmation on that working + pre-orders have been pushed back, so I don't think ill be going with that option atm.

Finally, received my adapt-a-nail after some delivery mix-ups! I will attach some photos of the unboxing of the sublimator.

Still too early for me to give a official review but I will give one once I have more time with the sub.

However, I would like to say that after messing around with the sub for awhile I will most likely be replacing my EVO for the sub as my daily driver :)

Thanks for sharing - have fun!

What's about the new mc, is the cable connecting the heating element firmly connected to the mc or is there a plug as on the heater side?

Thanks! I am having lots of fun with my sub ATM :)

For the cable connecting to the heating element it is only detachable from the heating element but not the MC controller (it is built in with the mc).

I'll post come close ups of the mc when I can
