The state of cannabis in the US

Obama just changed the US relationship to Cuba, freeing things up considerably.

The following quote regarding his decision:

"I do not believe we can keep doing the same thing for over five decades and expect a different result," he said.

Now why the h#ll doesn't he use the same reasoning on our cannabis policy which has been a complete
and total, misguided disaster ?????

Because then it would become an Obama decision, which Repubs are honor bound to oppose, whatever it is?

Just don't use cannabis if you visit Cuba. It is illegal and you will be prosecuted, especially if you are a visitor.

I hope Obama changes the ruling before he leaves office. For the reason alone that a large percentage of those prosecuted for marijuana crimes are young black men. Who knows who will end up being president after he's gone? It's kinda scary to think. It could be some whack job like George Bush!! His brother is running possibly.

Because prescription drug and alcohol producers have deep pockets and powerful friends.

I will be really disappointed in Obama if he doesn't change the ruling. He would be letting down a lot of people.

Vote for candidates that are cannabis friendly. That's the only way we will see change. Too bad it's not a vaporizer Obama is holding in the banner.

We are still getting played on this one, with the federal enforcement agencies reviewing the legislation. This means that things are loose enough that they can intrepid the legislation to fit their agenda. On the long list of positive things the fed could do in relationship to marijuana this is indeed a very small step, but it plays well with the base.

Obama has the power to reclassify it. I believe if he does, it will be at the end of his term and only with the blessing of the Democrat Party. It's a hot issue and depending on the election, they might hold it as a future wedge issue.

This sounds conspiracy-ish, but the anti- crowd is unusually quiet. I think they are just trying to lull us into complacency until Sativex comes to market. Once it does, we will see an intense prohibition push like the old days. They're hoping to kill the medical movement, and in turn, the recreational side will die with it.

I've never had such a love/hate relationship with a product before. Sativex has the potential to help so many, but at what cost?

The President may have to reclassify cannabis to resolve the interstate marijuana commerce issues.

The biggest joke I can see here is people still think Obama is in some way pro marijuana and that he will personally do anything to help its legalization. I do know a lot of people who voted for him solely on the guise of him being pro marijuana though.

The seeds of change are sprouting in Kansas


The way that the laws are currently written, you really do not want to get busted with weed in Wichita, Kansas...or any part of Kansas for that matter.

A first-time offense for simple pot possession in Kansas will earn you a misdemeanor charge on your record, up to a $2,500 fine, and even a year in jail. Get popped a second time and you could be looking at a felony.

But if the pro-cannabis advocacy group Kansas for Change has their way, that may be about to change for the better.

Some parts of the United States are winning the war on legalization and others are far behind the ball. Kansas had been on my list of states not to visit, that might change.
