College Football Nation . . . digesting week #2, t-dub's thoughts: The good, the bad, and the ugly.
Starting off with the ugly: You heard it here first, our new QB Vernon Adams Jr., has broken his right index finger. Yeah it was taped up and in a glove for the game with Michigan State and it was broken the whole time. The most I could find out was that it was broken in practice some time during the week after the Eastern Washington game. Good thing we found out he can throw with his left arm . . .
I admit Sparty played a good game but we really should have won that, and probably would have, if Vernon was healthy. Also in the ugly column is Malik Zaire's season ending broken ankle in Notre Dame's victory over Virginia. Ouch. But what a great game to watch with a mind altering ending. Ahhh the agony of defeat . . . sorry Virginia fans . . .
The bad: We lost. No way around it. It was a quality loss and since it was early we have time to bury it. Our defense still sucks. Bad. These kids can't tackle. I did see improvement however so time will tell.
The good: First off did anyone see Mariota's game against Tampa Bay and Jameis Winston? Wow, what an amazing debut, however that ship has sailed and I must move on. Nice to see the SEC looking a little vulnerable. Also UCLA and the Trojans look strong and seem to be the PAC-12s best representation. Josh Rosen continues to impress and USC seems to look better all the time. Should be a really good game against the Trojans when they come up here and my guess is we will be playing UCLA for the PAC-12 championship. Looking forward to the Bama Ole Miss matchup.
Parting thoughts: I still love my Ducks so here is a shout out to them. Animal House was filmed in Eugene so Nike and the Ducks were able to create this fun video with some surprising talent. Its fun to see Marcus smash a guitar and Otis Day and the Knights still got it. This was originally intended to be aired after we won the National Championship but it was tabled when that didn't happen. Its cool though because they were able to dubb in the scene with Mariota and the guitar.
The journey continues against Georgia State this weekend. As you can see I am back up in the club level. The land of the anointed with amenities not found down in the regular stadium . . .
Go Ducks!!!
