Who Is Nate?
Discuss everything Splinter here.

Awesome, thank you!

I don't see any WPA's listed on RBT and none of mine fit.

Where is everyone getting stems/mouthpieces and WPAs for your Splinter?

Any cost efficient solutions? Is anyone making something similar to the RBT XL8R for less than $50?

I'd love to see everyone's 3rd party accessories that you are using on your Splinter!

It will leave air gaps all around the outside of the male joint and won’t seal. I’ve tried with my finger covering the edges partially but it’s a miserable method
Thank you Thank you!

I spaced out over the fact the joints are tapered. Was bugging me all day.

I bought TEN 19/22mm joints a year ago because I break them often. I am fortunate my Splinter has a 19/22 female. I did see straight joints last year but after a cursory search I cannot find them now. ✌✌

For sure email Ryan about the glass, he responds real fast these days;). I asked him to keep my OG splinter glass and screen the way it is for the repairs and he said no problem, now the only challenge is for him to remember:lol:. How’d U get your paranormal so fast, u ordered it after me:huh:. I guess we both got indecisive and had to make changes, if all goes well i’ll Have the silver pearl finish you gave up:D
On the paranormal the only thing I can think of is I did pay extra for the priority shipping.

Really enjoying this splinter/DNA 250c. Normally wouldn’t take this combo camping. This time I just couldn’t pass.

I got my lost vape dna250c and setting it up. Need to mess around more with settings read up some more.

Close to memory limited on current build so only suggest user of DNA250c use this version. Will remove things like power bank for a dna75 version if someone request it.
PM me or request it here.

Since i'm running a lv paranormal 250c went with a spooky ghosts start screen :) 2nd is main screen but it's getting cluttered. Hey it's my first one so give me a break. They will only get better as time pass. It's with the other fcshare files over on escribe site.

Here’s a nice themes with setting for splinter download I started at this link. Currently only works with dna250c. Let me know how it works for you.
You still need run case thermal analyzer but rest should give a nice start.

Only works with dna250c? Just the theme right? I downloaded the profiles for the Splinter and Stempod onto my dna75s but haven’t really tried them out yet cuz I’ve tuned it to my liking already.

The main download works with the DNA 75 and 250. Listed under Description there is a separate download for the 250c only.
Sorry about the that.

If anyone wants one for a 75c let me know. Currently got everything but the kitchen sink in this 250c one. It’s using too much memory for the 75c I can remove power bank etc for space if needed.

So got my hands on a splinter and cooling mouthpiece from Vapefiend.

At first i couldnt believe i was the only person in the world who didnt like it. I found the airflow too open, i would get out of breathe and any vapour i could get id blow out immediately not be able to soak it in and savour it.

The appeal of the splinter to me is the stealth factor so a water piece wouldnt work for me.

I struggled with the width of the mouthpiece, being so wide i found uncomfortable, I found instead of putting my mouth over it like i straw to put my lips on the tip at an angle and inhale sort of how you would on a pax with the flat mouthpiece.

This improved the experience for me but i found i was getting too much heat fixed by the cooling mouthpiece from vapefiend.

The biggest change i made which i wanted to share with you is i covered 3 airholes with some blue tac, paired with the cooling mouthpiece and inhale technique it changed everything. Try it cover 2 or 3 holes and see what it does for you.

I have been using my omni xl more recently with pipes portside mini, the vapcap gave me the full high and even extraction i was missing from my arizer air. The vapcap gave me quick extraction, a satisfying high, no fuss and was discreet.

Only been 2 days using it with a reuleaux rx gen3 dual. Usually 2 hits at 32w stir couple more at 40w then finish at 45w though i have combusted at 40w with gorilla glue, that particular strain seems to need a lower temp.

I crave my omni xl but want this to work i seem to be getting darker & more even avb as my technique improves as thats the goal 100% even extraction like the omni xl gave me.

I have read for a week about artic fox & funky junky and i dont have time to spend hours on my vaping habit, basically 2 hours every night after the wife n kid have gone to bed, simple, quick, no fuss is part of the appeal of the splinter to me.

Ive read every page on every splinter forum out there but any tips you guys may have to help me love my splinter would always be welcome.

I use the Stempod stem in my Splinter now. It’s way thinner so airflow a little less and I find that the vapor is cooler too.

Load your stem using the straw method. Don't tamp it.
Put the stem in.
Do a 5-10 second preheat at your 32 watts and draw for 5-10 seconds.

If that doesn't produce a great first hit then something isn't working right.

Hits are awesome albeit not as dense as the vapcaps. Its just that with all 4 holes when i inhale by 8 seconds im out of breathe so those big hits i blow out as soon as mouthpiece leaves my lips. I like to savour the hits, covering 3 all holes has made the airflow perfect for me, now i just need to perfrct my technique.

your splinter has 4 holes? I'm pretty sure mine only has 2 holes:hmm:. If that's the case you'll have to draw real slow Milaana style, inhale too quick and you'll have a mouthful of hot dry air

Thats weird i looked at both of vapefiends splinter videos and both had 2? :hmm:

I can see how with 2 holes it would have been acceptable airflow so nice to know i was right in being not convinced with the airflow with 4 holes.

Yeah, mine only has 2 as well. That explains a lot of your experience I think. If you just got it it may well be the new version (with shorter glass) but I had't heard anything about 4 holes.

Really want to know the answer to this as well. I am a bit disappointed as I just ordered a splinter (over the stempod) based on a lot of good reviews. Now I realize RBT is making a new splinter which is probably the version I will get, that has many downsides. It has a weird proprietary 19/19 size that means pretty much every normal accessory you would find, that previously worked with splinter now will not work? Bummer. Does anyone know where I could get a WPA that fits the new version?

Still looking forward to it, but I really want to use this bad boy through water. Also hearing how virtually anything will fit in the stempod makes me a bit jealous hehe. Have a volcano and a mighty already, but looking to expand my collection.

OK, guys, Ryan just did a IG stream & I let him know about @London Vaper getting a Splinter with 4 holes. Ryan said that the 4 hole Splinter slipped through in the Vapefiend order in error. He said that he would let George at VF know & @London Vaper should call VF & exchange. I thought LV said he taped off 3 holes & relayed this to Ryan, & Ryan said if someone is only using 1 hole, then, this might not be the vape for him, but don't know why.

Ryan is now making both 2 or 4 hole Splinters & Splinter Zs (he showed them off in the stream when I mentioned the above), but don't know when the 4 holes will be available, nor did he say when the Splinter Z would either. (In the stream, he was working on a Mi2 batch.) Now, I hope I can express this correctly. The 2 hole version is the version that will be appropriate for most people. The 4 hole version is the high airflow version for those who want to rip at high wattage through water to get those HUGE clouds (he demo'd both the 2 & 4 hole versions), & it's especially great for dabbing. You can use the holes like carbs & cover 1 or 2 of them to build up initial heat. He said something about airflow & backflow, but it went over my head. He said to knock down the airflow on the 4 hole, you can insert corks in the holes. He said the best option would be some type of rotating airflow ring, but he's far from that type of upgrade, if at all. He just decided during the stream that he may include corks with the 4-hole to block the extra airflow when desired. Although I predominantly use my Splinter through water, I don't dab & my lungs can't handle high wattage (too hot) or voluminous vapor. So I'm a 2-hole Splinter/Z for sure.

He mentioned something about being able now to do his own ceramics, but I don't know what parts do currently or will entail ceramics.

So now you know all I know.

Edited to add: Next stream, I'll ask Ryan what the Splinter Z is rated for upper wattage limit, & if there are different wattage limits for the 2 vs 4-hole Splinter & the Splinter Z.

Strange hed say if i like 1 hole maybe not for me, i find 1 hole helps accumulate heat so get bigger clouds and i can soak in that cloud with 2 air holes is still fine but find it more comfortable with 1 hole.

I cant be bothered sending it back ill just cover my holes, i will say the cooling mouthpiece i got from vapefiend normal splinter screens dont fit, the ones he gave with it do but are not flush they easily slip out. Feels like theyve made a product which requires screens but there are none specifically made for it which seems odd.

I am tempted to put a flat screen and pack it like an arizer air stem, the bowl would be huge but not sure if the material wpuld be too far away from heater making it innefective?

Personally, I'd bother to exchange the Splinter for a 2 hole one if that's what works better for you.

I'm assuming your taking about the rimmed basket screens falling out? Are the rimmed screens that VF is sending out supplied by RBT? RBT also has an unrimmed basket screen that get inserted into the stem. You could use 1, or 2 of these non-rimmed ones & create a sandwich screen in the cooling mp. At minimum, I would request replacement rim & unrimmed from VF & ask that they test them out before sending.

The ones RBT gave with splinter were unrimmed, vp were rimmed.

You guy's think its ok to torch the screens clean? Soaked them in 99% iso but they still leave some tiny bits.

I ruined TI CCD's from vapcap torching them as they wouldnt stay in place after i did which is why i ask.

Before you mentioned the 4 holes I knew it was the usual air flow issue. New users draw way too fast with RBT vapes, has been the case from the beginning. So much we had to recommend blocking the air intake with a poked rolling paper for the Zion, carb'ing the Milaana etc. In your case you have even more air intakes than normal, so no wonder you get airy hits.

18mm systems have massive air flow but you need to restrict your draw speed in return. It's free-flowing meaning the vape will not create the restriction for you, you have to do it yourself. Contrast that to the Solo or CFV which are super restricted but where even total newbies can get good vapor from the first try.

You could try tamping your load a lot, might help creating extra restriction.

For the screens you can torch gently without making them glow too hot, then complete the cleaning with scotch-brite under some flowing water. But I would advise you to let them partially clog, will solve also your air flow problems. I much prefer my Zion with the screen half clogged.

PS: it's also because of this that the new Milaana 2 is more restricted by default, makes it easier to use.

Im just glad that it wasnt me. lol

I was ready to give up on the splinter thinking i must be weird and am the exception to not liking this device.

I am stocked up on 3 strains - some haze, gorilla glue & amnesia and wife n kid are at her mums so tonight i can work on mastering my draw technique.

Main concerns now are with omni xl my usuage was a nice level i dont want to start using more material but looks like to me 2 splinters bowls = 3 vapcap bowls. I usually did 3 bowls per session so if i can get blitzed on 2 bowls my usuage will remain the same.

Second is i need to master my draw technique, should i go slow & steady at a constant rate or draw hard and fast like you would on a eliquid tank?

Last is which is just something ill have to learn to deal with is when stirring and emptying the bowl it makes alot more mess with avb flying around than my vapcap which i would just blow out the window.

With my wife and kid little things make a big differance to me, so may seem minor 2u but for me bits of abv flying around mean i then have to get a wipe and clear up and bits lying around which takes a bit away from the fuss free experience i want but nothings perfect, vapcap was the ultimate stealth vape but the lighter was too noisy and the induction heater never gave me the same satisfaction so i know ill never be 100% happy thats just me.

I dont like vapes like session vapes like he mighty, arizer etc I just want to have 3/4 concentrated hits that fully extract which i know i will be able to achieve once i master my draw technique.

I already have slight Browning in the middle of bottom mesh is this normal?

If you haven’t yet go watch troy’s Milaana review on 420vapezone. It’ll give u a good visual introduction on how to pull heat into the material and inhalation technique. U don’t have to worry about the trigger pulses because your mod regulates power output unlike the Mi but it’s a nice video.

The browning of the screen is probably from your material coming into contact with it and getting heated. A moist iso swab will clean it off. Enjoy your splinter, it’s really fun once you get the hang of it
