The one i have was plenty powerful enough for the Splinter and i believe was closer to $40. KangerTech kbox 120.
You could probably spend even less and be very satisfied. You really only need 50 or 60 watts max

Edit: ya so after a 15 hour drive I decided to impulsively buy the Splinter in the dead of night...hopefully I don't remember buying it. That's the idea.

Check out the tubo evic. I imagine it ships to Australia- it's from Switzerland and I think it's the splinter is somewhat similar to it except it doesn't require a separate unit.

I know how much you guys rave about the Tubo performance (and being an active user of the Project and owning the same mod I can understand) but these pictures remind me why I'll never get one: it's super subjective of course but I find it to be the ugliest vape around, even worse than the Mighty... Looks like a stereo from the 80's...
It's also unfortunate that the Splinter won't fit in SBS mods, as it looks kinda out of place on the evic mini... to not say frankly silly. Were the 14mm prototypes that bad? What was the problem exactly?

I love the way mine looks although I think color makes a difference. Someone ordered an all black one that is the nicest I've seen. By I don't understand why you would veto a vape that you consider ugly if it works incredibly well? I have my zion, milaana, mvt and tubo lined up and they are all a bit similar except that I chose the color of my tubo so it's not a solid wood.
The 14mm could be good for microdoser's (and possibly will come around at some point) but the performance difference was significant enough just focus on the 18mm.

I prefer the 18mm. It's easier to adapt it to 14mm for microdosing than to adapt a 14mm. I'd really like to hear more from those who already have their splinters. (I really don't like the name).
The merits of the design were not the deciding factor. The problem was the logistics of dealing with two separate SKUs.

Ended up taking the plunge with the sale. Price was low enough to not really worry about how long it's going to take. If delivery ends up being late no big deal.
I still think it's a weird product, I have a lot of the same concerns as KeroZen in terms of it being an awkward, silly form factor. But an RBT heater that's easy to attach to a bunch of different power sources? Yeah I think I'm gonna have some fun with this thing.

You can see the size and material difference between your average atomizer and the splinter+stem right? The splinter looks nearly twice as thick as most atomizers I've seen and is at least twice as long w/ the stem.
The average box-mod fits easily in the pocket, the splinter looks too big to comfortably pocket even without the stem, then you also have to transport and load the stem. I couldn't see myself using it anywhere but at home. Certainly not out in public.
