Spent some hours in the lab with RBT this evening. I think he will be making changes in the air intake location and size. Talked about a possible lock for the stem he had several cool ideas I cannot wait to see what he comes up with. He made me some REALLY short stems to make the unit more stealth. I like it and have not noticed any major changes in vapor quality or heat of the hits. I think he will be taking a bit of wood away to make it more ergo and he will definitely changing the positive terminal configuration. I think my connection was weak because Killer has more power than before which means you have to let off the button even sooner. No lies you hold the button too long and you are charring or combusting. I think he is going to tone it down a bit with the next revisions. He will be back at Zion manufacturing all weekend. 18650 SBU now has a name. Anyone that can figure it out wins.... the satisfaction of figuring it out :) Happy vaping.

@bounce5, I am sorry there will never be a video of me on the interwebs with my permission lol. I am sorry I am not letting anyone play with my SBU either. I am a selfish bastard ;) Maybe when RBT gets another break from Zion building he will make a video for you. I think I jumped the gun when I called this a beta unit. This is a big brother alpha unit to the 10mm 18350 that he made me for my birthday last year.
Sweet details, most of the reason I gave RBT my money as soon as he would take it is because of how much of the process is shared here on FC. Short stems = good! especially when they're GREEN glass! Looks so effing good w/ the wood and copper. Also, since button/heater/intake are all on one side, I'd love to see the more ergo form taper on the battery side, I imagine that would feel really good wedged between thumb and pointer with ring or pinky on the button.

A few questions:

Why the USB over the Firewood3?

Why should I put faith in RBT (I've pre-ordered ZION already) to release not just one awesome vape but two? Besides the heater tech etc?

The USB isn't even completed. I don't see how someone can compare the two. I don't think even the Zion can be compared to the Firewood 3. The FW3 is a good basic vape. The Zion is so superior that it's on a different level.

I know USB isn't completed but what would differentiate it from FW3? Not comparing Zion. I'm thinking of pre-ordering USB.

ZION's coming to my house already.

Never seen or touched a Firewood so I have no idea in comparison to the Milaana.
Edit: As far as I know there is only one of these in existence and it is in my pocket. So no one will be able to give you that comparison.

As far as why buy from RBT I will let customers tell you what they think. Ryan is a close friend and I am biased as I have mentioned before in other threads. He is good people and a stand up guy. I have not, nor will probably ever pay for a vape (right @RastaBuddhaTao lol). Everyone of the Zion beta team is a paying customer. There are another 20 or so in the wild.

So the Milaana is now the official name? I was going to propose Zylo which means wood but that would have been confusing anyway.

The real differentiator between RBT's and other vapes, to me, is the heater tech. Zion tech isn't simply another re-spin of the same old heater design as is so often the case, it is so much better. It is the Zion heater tech which allows near instant on demand convection vaporizing, and a big reason for the fan club.

I know you ordered the Zion. But I think when you try it you'll know why people are ordering Milaana (?).
I have the FW3 and the Zion and several other vaporizers. I'm optimistic that the single battery vape will be superior to any other comparable vaporizer.

I also have not used a Firewood3, but @nosmoking compared it to an Elevape (which he uses and enjoys slightly more i believe?) But Zion team member @IAmKrazy2 has and also had the dual battery manual Zion which is more like this Milaana but double battery life basically... I'll let him tell you what he thinks of that comparison but spoiler he didn't have the best FW results if I recall correctly.

I'm sure Firewood is great, but the Zion heater design is as MrP and karma put it the RBT secret sauce, I can honestly say, with all the vapes I own, have owned, or have used, it is wholly unique and incredible imho. Why there has been a lot of Daisy/Lily comparison talk lately as well... Full bodied signature on demand convection vapes with a natural feel and an intuitive, versatile style of use.

If you get Zion, this will be Zion Mini, you may not want to reach for FW or others as much... But you'll be waiting a bit for it, and VAS loves company, so always room for more for fun, but I recently already had to trim my own collection because Zion all but demanded it from me

Please don't get me wrong. I've ponied up my $ for the Zion because I felt RBT was an extremely dedicated man, smart, working his ass off, with the full support of some of the top people on this forum.

I'm just asking how the company (RastaBuddhaTao) will succeed? For instance Triihouse people were good people but alas no more?

I am not going to bash the FW3 because the customer service was great and the price is fair BUT i simply do not use the FW3. It doesnt have enough power for my liking, and the vapor quality isn't very high IMO. The vapor is also very harsh, the batteries dont hold a long enough charge, they are not user replaceable, and i also believe the warm up time is about twice what is advertised by the manufacturer. It also has more draw restriction than i prefer.

I will recommend the fw3 on the value side for those on a budget who do not want a torch powered portable, but i personally much prefer the Zion, Firefly, ESV, Crafty/mighty, or Arizer Portables. I would personally put the fw3 more on par with the mflb or slightly above.

Edit. Speed and power combination + pure convection of the Zion tech is what sets it appart from any other battery portable IMO. The heater tech will be the same in the single battery. My only complaints are size and issues that come with any stem vape (please see my video review for more info). Cheers.

I don't love the new name (if it is official) but I don't really care what it's called. I just want it! The Zion heater in something I can put in my pocket? Doh! Gimme... :)

And that is having only experienced the beta heater tuning. All are saying the production heater tuning is dramatically better. Can't wait...

I'm running a Grasshopper and a FW3, the FW3 can be awesome, way beyond a good basic vape and into mini log vape territory. I don't think I'd have that opinion if I didn't have to send the hopper in for servicing 3 times (in fact I bought the FW during the 1st service). There's something not entirely intuitive about it, yet another finicky convection portable like Firefly or LSV, but on the 3rd Grasshopper warrranty something clicked and now I get results 100% consistent, strong rolling log vape high, plus crazy efficient and a really clean flavor.

The Grasshopper is as simple as instant-on, temp-stepping convection gets, and really quick, like <2min sessions. It's my go-to because it requires almost no breath control - I don't have to stop and pay attention, can hit it without breaking pace walking the dog - and I like the quick perspective shift of the short session. The FW3 takes at least twice as long and I need to stop moving to make it work.

I pre-ordered the USB as soon as it was pre-orderable, quick convection portables are all I own now. While the Grasshopper tech uses 3D printing to make a tiny and super powerful heater, the FW3 is a really thoughtful arranging of existing solutions, and the Zion tech is a brand new approach, it's exciting. Something about maximizing surface-to-air contact so the heater doesn't have to go high above target temps and can handle high airflow? Something like the speed of the hopper and the clean flavor of the FW3 (two awesome convection vapes right in the USBs price-point), plus whatever oomph the Zion tech adds, it's got my interest for sure.

Not loving the new name, like the meaning more than the sound of the word, I'll get used to it.

You are correct, however my ESV operates at a peak level of performance. It easily can keep up with my Daisy. The FW3 is not a basic vape and should be compared more with the Zion and USB imho. The problem with the FW3 is it does require more technique. Zion tech has been built around the first time user in mind so no technique is really required. I think this is the bigger diference between the two and performance is probably not as big a difference I bet.

The only person to have Zion tech and a FW3 currently is @Mulehead so he is the only one that truly can compare.

Nice TRIPLE comparison! :science:

Don't think new name is very marketable.:2c:

Actually, @IAmKrazy2 also has both, but has not had a good experience with the FW3 so his comparisons will not favor the FW3.
Nice TRIPLE comparison! :science:
Except he hasn't used the Zion device yet.

I mention that because I expect the USB to overwhelm the other 2 vapes.

Triihouse is no more because of legal issues in that state and a decision not to move to another state. Which is understandable. It seems like Ryan has worked out a way to get his manufactured instead of doing it himself (with the Zion) so it doesn't matter what state. And it looks like he's in a legal one anyway.
