I love this vape and explaining it to others...

The heat needs to hover in the load, kinda sit there for a few seconds. Too open and air flow, it just rushes past the herb, not really able to cook it. The bit of a clogged screen can help, but when you can do it all with breath (and make sure you have some hemp fiber or cotton in your vent hole (under screen). HEAT MUST HOVER IN HERB, how you get that to happen is open to discussion, but that is not.

Things that MIGHT ruin a session
- very dirty screen
- weak battery
- screen too far from heat
- grind to fine
- not grinding and not stirring
- drawing too fast
- too much button
- packing too tight
- irregular pack (looking for a nice even flat tamp)

Please note, a session works best if you don't stop and start, but finish it up in one sitting. I load light, so this is no problem. Sometimes it happens, but it's not the most efficient use of product. Make sure you stir before you restart.

Remember the old combustion days and smoking a pipe. You put the light near the bowl and control everything by watching the bowl glow as you draw slowly. You were doing the same thing by controlling the distance of the flame (button) and strength of your draw.

Then I do not have this nice thing in my Milaana, I guess... If I have a problem with the Milaana, then it's the middle hot spot that always roasts my load, no matter how much I try to work with the thing. Not a show stopper at all, but would be much nicer without...

Just a very, very tiny attempt to give something back. Ordering with you was nothing but pure pleasure and I am still VERY grateful for your more than adorable help with my "problem".

I still get a hot spot sometimes, a quick twist is usually enough to rescue the load. Something was a bit off, didnt pack just right, drew too fast. No big deal. I can honestly say, i judgethe success of a stem more by taste, and all else falls into place.

I think it is time for me to finally chime in. I've been lurking round here for a while now and bought my mi off vapenoob a little while ago (great guy by the way and absolute pleasure to deal with). It took me about a week to get my technique down. Firstly I used all the help from member provided in this forum (it all works) you need a slow draw speed and a preheat. The only thing I use to help me get near perfect hits every time is using the long clear stem and using a visual guide from watching the vapour in the stem. I've found I can either wait till I start to see vapour rising whilst doing the slow draw and then let off the trigger and keep slow drawing till I'm running out of breath and need to speed up to clear the stem. This works well for quick dense hits but very easy to charr with this method. I feel the best method I used is to do the same but just as the stem starts to get steamy with vapour (so just before you can really see the vapour rising up the stem) let off the trigger and pulse it with a slow draw to edge the vapour out. This is very intuitive and time holding the trigger in the pulse will on obviously depend on how much power is left in your batteries. So when full you will be doing light quick pulses to edge the vapour out and when they are more drained you will be holding the trigger for longer when pulsing. And the colour of the vapour is the indication of what temp you are vaping at so if you want BIG low temp hits you need to keep the colour of the vapour light and hit it harder by pulsing longer and taking in lots of that light vapour don't pulse too hard as you will see the vapour darken and flavour will deminish but obviously the hit will be bigger with taking less vapour in.

I hope my findings help some of you new guys and girls. On a. Side note I used the slow draw technique in my mighty and oh lord does it make it so much better. Clouds feel thicker and denser and it stops so much of the small particles getting sucked up and lodging in the screen so win win. Less cleaning and better vapour. Just thought I'd mention it if no one has tried it if you have a mighty of crafty

Working on a really cool build today. It's like the 3rd one with the same parts. I'm incorporating 3 new ideas into one project (always a bit risky).

1: I am completely recessing the glass, but using a different method that should keep closer to the Milaana internal specs, using a drop of wood glue at the top / battery side, very far from the heater. I've done some tests to see how hot this area gets, it basically stays pretty cool, much like the bottom cap that is glued. There is no end grain here, so the glue bond will be stronger than the wood, and if done right, the seem should disappear. Actually, the battery itself gets hotter than the wood in this area. Doing it this way keeps the insides more like a stock Milaana, makes it a more efficient, accurate, and quicker build.

2: I plan to BURY the battery and copper top. Hard to explain, but this is gonna look amazing.

3. One or two small (1/16) vent holes from the top.

On a side note, I just purchased my first used Milaana. Gonna break it down, and rebuild it. I feel like Dr. Frankenstein - :science: - breathing new life in dead bodies. Off to the lab... (evil laugh).

I've used every type of battery, got many on IMR, some locally, some on Amazon. Since being back here, I'm reminded to stay with IMR, so I bought a few Sony VTC - 5's and Samsung 30q's (?), as well as a previous round of buying on amazon (all LG H2's).

Everything on Amazon sucks. Everything on IMR is good, but, but but... I love the Sony's. Last night I had my maple Mi so freaking heat soaked it was sick. I was getting lots of hits post button depression. I had to let it cool down a couple of times...

Anyway, my vote is for the Sony VTC-5 overall. I think I'm getting at least four stems, I don't really keep track, but the sessions are even better with this much power under the hood. I might make next custom a bit beefier to handle the extra heat.

What is ironic is that the extra heat actually keeps my sessions smoother. I have more power to control, but once controlled, I can tailor a cooler (or hotter) session. I try very hard to stay far away from char, bad taste, cough, dry throat - not for me. But the power helps me keep it cool.

Holy Moly! I am so excited! My Milaana-Fu has increased drastically during the last 24 hours.
I was a very hardworking panda. I trained a lot.

I am here to gladly declare that my last 5 bowls have been absolutely great!
A bit of stirring was necessary, but all the rest worked out as I hoped it would work out one day.
Riding the heat feels a bit like playing didgeridoo and I am getting better and better. I am so f*cking happy with that thing.

And what is REALLY special about the Milaana: It gets me vaped like no other vape that I own. It's not necessarily a "better" experience. But it is fantastic, going deep inside my bones and muscles while keeping the head "somehow" clear and very uplifted. It is unique. Never felt that in this way during the last 28 years of consumption and I am grateful for the experience.

I <3 my Milaana.

Thanks so much, arrived in the mail today, can't wait to get home and put it through its paces. I am stunned by the beauty of the wood, it has far exceeded my expectations.

I would love to see it from the other sides, if you do not mind taking more pictures! It is a beauty indeed... :) Enjoy!

But another question: I ordered several stems with my Milaana, in different colours. For some reason, only the black stem fits tightly. All others are a bit "loose". I could not jiggle the Milaana around or hold it upside down with those stems. They would slip out. Is that normal? Any idea what I could stick around the loose stems to make them fit better?

Phew... been in the shop all day. Some stuff needs tweaking, but it came together. It'll get better with each build.

Sapele Wood / Diagonal grain (no end grain)
Recessed glass
Recess battery (needs a bit of tweaking, might go back to last version with step)
One vent hole (actually, might not need it with this set up)
A bit beefier to handle my Sony VTC-5's

30 MINUTES IN:
Anything I write past this point needs to be taken with a grain of salt, as I'm knee deep in beta testing right now!

I'm have a grand old time being my own beta tester. I got some sony's doing their thing. I find I can place my finger over the solo vent hole, or not, as another variable. What I've been doing is "feathering the vent hole" once air starts to flow, it seems to add a moment of suction. Not really necessary, but I guess I'm just playin' around to see what it can do.

The heavier body is different. I am used to my little Mi, and I have to admit, she feels good. The extra beef does seem to allow me to draw after I release the button. Not that I couldn't do that before, but a bit more. I have to make an effort to slow down a bit. Got a little cough goin', my beta testing not helping.

Nice! I did not know what to expect by recessed battery idea, seeing it now that is very interesting indeed! Side air intake is actually what it was gonna be originally, before top was decided upon. That sapele sure is a really nice looking wood, especially with that diagonal cut! Keep on keepin on, I know beta testing isn't easy brother, hang in there!

You guys every hear of the Hindu term Dharma? Basically, Dharma is loving what you do so much, it's not work. I am lucky enough to have some folks on FC, requesting I build custom Milaanas for them. Building Milaanas - my dream job, as it incorporates my two passions, woodworking and vaping. I've got 3 old Mi's enroute for their big facelift! I'm in Milaana heaven.

The Milaana, combined with some good old AK-47, has just blown me up to the ceiling.
Now I am sticking there for some minutes, look down a bit and will then try to gently come to the floor again.
I seem to be Spiderman, I do whatever a spider can. :)
