@RastaBuddhaTao What would you recommend for cleaning the copper/contacts?
If ya love Milaana, contact Dope and let em know.
https://www.420edc.comTop hat?...what is this if i may ask...and also can anyone fill me in on the current milaana status?...im noticing some models have recessed glass intakes and some are raised above the units base....i would prefer the recessed...and finally can anyone reccommend a good place to buy one around 4/20 for the best price?...all feedback is much appreciated.
They're all recessed now unless you somehow get a super old version. Just choose n buy. I thought they're not fully recessed anymore, cause Ryan found the optimum distance to the heater needs a bit more room..? Might be wrong though. Definitely just grab a Mi and enjoy it. Ladies and Gents of Milaana Thread and possibly any extraterrestrial lurkers (we know you're out there...)
I've been graced with the opportunity to try the new @DDave mod. Got a few thoughts on it, some amazing ... some that need more experimenting through trial and error, some comments, etc etc
First of all, if you guy have had his other 14mm mod, you know how much you enjoy it. But...you also may have noticed not 100% the best quality. I'm not knockin the mod at all (I'm a utilitarian guy), but my stem had a little bit of a crooked mouthpiece and little things like that. Nothing at all that would effect the use, just looks. But this new mod looks very professional ... it was the very first thing I noticed. Where the frosted meets clear is just so smooth, the tips are smooth and refined ... it's just a quality cut piece of glass. Very good upgrade compared to the glass I got first from him (YMMV).
Before we get started, I must say ... my Milaana is slightly too cool to get the full benefits of this mod due to the added distance from the heater and the nature of the mod. It still worked great, and once I get my hotter Milaana back it will be an insane power house. Want to know how I know? I threw this bad boy on our LSV, cranked the temp up, and ripped the shit out of it.
For those who don't know ... the LSV can be pretty fucking harsh dry, even with very long stems. I let my LSV owner friend (sold him mine) use the mod first, and he looks at me, blows out a massive cloud and goes dude .... the vapor was practically cold. I'm like no way that's BS. First we look at the herb and it's nearly still completely green from a micro pack (we got about 5 hit total), so he passes it to me, and boy was he right. The way it is set up ... with the holes to disperse the airflow and the curve in the stem ... I don't know man, it just comes out cool. Anyone with a DDave mod knows he is all about making vapes as cold and as flavorful as possible ... and this mod sure does that.
Enough back story, time to get into the mod itself.
First things first, this mod uses absolutely no screens. The end of the 18-14 reducer is closed off with tiny holes that act as your screen. This is what you pack ... so you just drop some herb into your reducer ... not your stem. It's a bit funky at first, but it has a ton of benefits. One is the almost perfect even cooking every time (so far with testing). You can also pull your mod out and flip it over and just look through the Male end glass and see how brown your herb is. Can also give the Male end a quick flick and toss your herb around without needing to stir (although I haven't really been stirring much).
So after you pack the reducer, you just drop your stem ontop of it and attach the kek clip if you wish. The stem has 4 small holes in it and is not fully open of course ... or else your herb would fly down your throat lol. MUST SAY ... this reduces the airflow quite a bit. Makes it a bit more like the grasshopper. I ... personally ... would prefer more small holes in the stem in order to increase the airflow ... but screenless options always have to find ways around scooby snacks, so it's understandable. I think more holes would do wonders for me though. The stem doesn't sit at the very bottom of the adapter ... it leaves some room for your herb. Something we tested was ... we packed a large bowl and used the stem to squish the herb ... which creates a rosin like effect, mixing heat and pressure. Very interesting ... similar to how the vapman works if you wish to pack it that way. DDave recommended to "start small".
I have found that coarse, fluffy grind works great for multiple reasons. One of the main reasons is functionality, and that you don't want your holes to get clogged with tiny kief particles. Obviously a result of that would be small scooby snacks coming through if too fine. This is really only an issue if you grind to a powder ... just keep it sorta coarse and you're good to go. I've noticed a "coarse is better" type of deal with DDave mods. Increases airflow without disrupting any flavor terps through the grinding process of getting it too fine.
SHORTENED SUMMARY:
New mod has no screens, you pack the reducer then throw the stem over it
Mod is farther from the heater, making cooler, more flavorful vapor
Airflow is reduced because of the holes in the glass, but it disperses the heat much better and removes hotspotting almost 100%
Stem has a little bend in it, making it look very sleek while also helping to cool vapor
If your Milaana runs cool you may not get the full benefits unless you do a long preheat - shortening battery life overall
Quality of the glass has improved quite a bit
Get back to me for any questions ... I've only done a night of testing, and need to get my hotter Milaana back from my friend for more, accurate testing. My experience was done using a cold Milaana and a cranked up LSV.
And yes ... that is a Dragonball Z dab pad, and yes ... Goku is throwing a dab spirit bomb to fuck up Piccolo.
If you're wondering what those dried plants are in the first picture .. it is dried lavender straight out of our hydroponic garden. mmm mmm mmm ... the smells!
About where my thumb is ... is where the Male joint of the 14mm ends ... leaving the remaining space for herbature.

Wow. That seems like a pretty much ideal solution for easy packing and easy cleaning.
Not sure really! May not be on the site yet I have no clue, haven't checked. I've just been in touch with DDave.Hey when did this come out? First time I see it and I'm really interested!!
OFFTOPIC: Kudos for that amazing dragon ball mat!
Wellllll fuckkk @DDave I guess I know what my first order from you will be... I've been dying to cut out mesh screens for a long time and this seem like my ideal way to do it! Will there be a male to male too so it can connect to your latest cooling wand as well? I don't remember what version that is at, just didn't see it in the photos... Maybe a shorter stem option too?
Also @AJS I thought your spalted was still plenty hot, that your v1 was just a little more unleashed so to speak? I only have v1, for now
This stem is still really short but if it can make an LSV as smooth or smoother than the super long stem ... something is done right. I think it's because it limits the hot air and a lot of it cools as it enters those holes. Again .. could just be honeymoon phase and I could have some issues with heat down the line but so far it's looking super smooth.Exactly my thoughts! Gonna order one from @DDave and try it for sure, lately I was using a reducer and a 14mm stem with some hemp fiber (it's a shorte stem and vapor can be harsh at higher temps). Can't wait to try it.
Right!! So interesting how it was made. Never woulda thought of this. I was expecting something totally different (he didn't tell me what he was sending me), and when it arrived my jaw just sorta dropped for a couple minutes lol.Wow. That seems like a pretty much ideal solution for easy packing and easy cleaning.
Interesting ... mine are always pretty clean. Haven't clean mine in ages and my stem is coated gold by now. I just make sure to blow thru them after every bowl and they good ...I have the 14mm mini-mod but the screens get dirty too fast so they're always out pf rotation
but the screens get dirty too fast
But I can't get half-full bowls to work well for me on the 18 mm stems.
