I am still baffled about why Milaana still doesn't sell well...
There is a ton of plastic shit out there at that price point or above that sell better, it doesn't make any sense to me...
I hear you NF. I actually think a lot of this is due to lack of exposure. And when sitting in a retail environment, the uncertainty of an unknown artisanal product when compared against some of the more well know & established vaporizer brands is for many, a no-brainer. They stick to what they know. Especially for someone who is not an FC-initated vape-geek with VAS!

But exotic woods and luxurious finishes seem a good way to draw in more interest - and hopefully funds.

Imo, the pricing is completely understandable, and should be accepted for what it is - these are luxury niche items after all. From a non-corporate backed, U.S founded, hard-earned dollar-funded, artisanal, trying-to-get-a-foothold-in-the-industry, start-up company!

And as has already been stated, it's understood that the price of these extra special units will not be for everyone - that's why there is a basic model. But, for those who have the desire as well as the available disposable income to spend on these premium models - they will be rewarded with an insanely sexy piece of all-American-made hardware, while at the same time helping to cement the path that RBT has taken. They (along with anyone else who purchases an RBT product) will be helping to secure our future of vaping with the awesome & innovative designs that this company can and will (with our help) continue to create - while combining nature & technology.

Yeah, for that reason I offer my personal & heartfelt thanks to anyone that has helped this company to find it's way, and continue on it's journey.

Anyway, at the end of the day, I know I'm ALL in!

Mighty oaks from little acorns grow :myday:

. . . . Yeah, you may feel that you're helping to prop up & water it right now, but pretty soon we'll all be giggling and laughing as we're swinging from it's boughs . . . . :2c:

I was amazed by your comments that taste had returned so close to normal, but after seeing your pic's I realized that yhe damage was no-where near as extensive as my pessimism had led me to believe , so I'm delighted that it may yet work out fine for you! :haw:.
I hope the taste/smell goes away completely.

Surprises me too, hopefully the new marketing measures pay off.

Even a handfull of units sent out to the 'big' reviewers might help to swing that?

Until you vape on a regular basis you don't have any idea of what is important to you. You don't know just exactly it is that other unit left you wanting or what part works for you. New customers have to become comfortable with using money for equipment instead of meds.

Martha Stewart wants nice decor.
Gordon Ramsey wants great taste.
Cheech Marin wants great extraction.
Mark Cuban wants economical.
TeeJay1952 wants Zion.

I've had my Milaana for a week today. This vape takes me by surprise every time I hit it.

I tried it with some good quality hash wrapped inside of some "hemp-cotton" last night. DAAAMN!!!
I probably used 75mg and got wrecked in two separate sessions of the same bowl. :rockon:After the last session I was so blasted I just went straight to bed without emptying the stem, so this morning I decided to try and see if there was any juice left. BAM! I can't belive this, I'm so medicated right now. And it took me like 30-40 seconds??

But seriously, this vape has given me back the kind of high that I thought and had accepted I would never feel again from fucking combustion. I trusted my intuition when I decided to buy this vape for money I kind of didn't have, and you bet I'm glad I did.

I have slept better the last week than I have done in several months, and pain management is much improved. I can sip and chill or inhale the whole bowl in a couple of huge clouds if I want :D

I am ridiculously thankful owning this vape, and when more money comes around I will buy one in exotic wood. 'Cause exotic wood gives me wood :brow:

Right, @stickstones coined the term "full bodied hit" and that describes it well. This is why I keep saying it's very close to smoking a joint in terms of effects. And also surely why @CarolKing said she prefers to reserve the Mi for evenings before going to bed.

The force is strong in this one!

Marketing and that's probably all it is. Unit need's to be with more of the popular reviewer's like vape critic. I had heard little bits about the Zion and Milaana but most of that had come from comments or things in people's signatures. What actually steered me here was @scottg402 on reddit, every time a best/favorite vape topic was up He would say Milaana. Trusting Scott's judgement made me search out the sub here, then it was waiting to try and get a lifetime warranty unit, missed a few of them before I snagged @stickstones 's last one.
So its Scott & Stickstones who get credit for this sale (and the Zion pre-order I got in)

I'm not (deliberately) being a smartarse, but I found the learning curve very shallow, and am still a little mystified by the early difficulty some have had to overcome.
My very first rip was great, and I have still only combusted once when using the Mi native.
You might find it easy too?
I've combusted about 3-4 times through water, but really prefer the flavour without water, so rarely use my bubblers now.
I originally bought it for bubbler use, and didn't imagine that I'd be using it much without glass.
I've lightly scorched the centre of the load quite a few times when I've been drawing hard, but this is easily controlled/predicted, so I rarely go beyond the point where a quick stir restores flavour for subsequent draws.
The flavour was a bit of a surprise to me when I first got my Milaana, and is now of great importance .

The Milaanas status as a heavy hitter is definitely deserved, but it works fine for micro dosing and low temp's too.
I have a very low tolerance, so medium or small doses is mostly how I use it, and it works really well this way.
Really tiny 'nano' doses work ok too, but for that size of load I usually prefer the tighter draw of my VapCap (the perfect companion vape for the Milaana IMO).
The Mi has a very open 'breath-y' draw with little to no restriction, and if you are looking for a tight draw, be prepared to load plenty of material, and tamp it down some too.
This is not how I use it much, as it tends to leave me comatose due to my low T, and avoiding the brown spot in the middle of your load is a little trickier (maybe 'less easy' would be more accurate than trickier here).
I also prefer small loads to make the most of the flavour of my material.

TL,DR?
Don't let either of these concerns you describe put you off.
IMO neither is likely to be a problem for you :myday:
@GetLeft
I agree about the learning curve. The only thing I've modded from the stock config is to move my stem's screen closer to the heater (shrinking the bowl depth to about 4mm instead of the cm depth Ryan provided me, knowing I'm a heavy consumer). I pack with hand-torn nug, and I stuff the bowl tight, providing some draw resistance, like I would with a combustion piece (You can feather the inlet if your nug isn't providing sufficient resistance, but I prefer enlarging my serving size over paying attention to what I'm doing).

I just draw slow, and release the button 1/2-3/4 of the way through my hit, finishing vapor production with residual heat, as well as cooling the heater and payload at the end.

I like the KISS mantra of The RBT line, and never had any issue figuring out how to get vapor from them. I have had issues with other unregulated devices, but Mi has never done me wrong.

I recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who is comfortable with the idea of a device whose output you are entirely in control of. I don't much recommend it for people who ABSOLUTELY NEED regulation or a bag-filler. The user is the power and air intake regulator for this device, and I can understand some folks balking at that. If you look at my devices in my sig, I own several "top tier" vapes. I spent a 2-4 week period using each one individually (for a total of the last 3 months), and I just circled back to Milaana. It feels like home. I can't wait to switch over to Zion in a few weeks and try to give a more qualitative description of the difference between the Mi and Zi.
Well, I've been pretty hung over all day so I haven't been puffin much, but got a bowl or two in and it's almost tasting totally regular. Even on the later hits. If you stick your nose in the female glass joint there is a faint firey smell. The later hits do have a bit of a different taste, I think. Maybe a hint of the wax still. Gonna iso the screen with a qtip again. I took a few pics of the damage:

I guess it's a good thing I had a couple sessions before I left. Not having a full charged battery probably saved me.
These pics look like @HD Springer 's Zion, which was tuned hot and stress tested aimilarly to how yours was "tested" in the cup holder. Hope he has a chance to chime in on your situation.

HD's Marilyn actually got her birthmark from being cooked in an oven if I'm not mistaken? lol talk about stress testing, it had a truck on it too

Milaana had me for a long time, but I've been back to Zion as of late, feels like home

@KeroZen I thought full bodied vapor signature was one of mine like effortlessly versatile? I remember using it to compare Zion and Daisy way back when at least, not that it matters

Shits is right. Marilyn got her beauty marks from Ryan leaving her in a hot sauna(an oven)room overnight. @beiberhole69 pic looks like it was possibly done by the heater itself.

When I was testing the TOD I was asked to do the "true convection" test where you put a loaded stem in and press the button for a minute and check the load after. The load was untouched but the Tod wasn't. It was smoking and a very strong burned wood smell was present. After about 10-15 seconds I placed the loaded stem back in and took a hit and it had retained enough heat to vaporize my load. Albeit a burned wooded vapor was had but it still vaped it.

Yup.

And when I popped out the stem the load was still greenish (I think it turned a little brown) I didn't get to really examine it because it was in the way when I poured water on the Mi and got wet.

Really wish I would've gave it a day or two instead of immediately ordering another unit. Having a backup is good, but I think it's kind of silly to have 2 of the same around.

I don't think anyone should be surprised and/or upset by the prices. If this was a poor performer or massed produced well then maybe. But like many logs out there, it's more or a niche vape at this point. Ryan has already explained that there is more scrap in the process and the wood is more expensive. He is also spending more time on the sanding ect. to provide a finer quality finished product. All of this cost money for a company trying to find their way while they are bleeding money. If sales were stronger Ryan could leverage volume over margin but they are not so this is a way to survive and continue. I understand the desire for the lower cost (as was Ryan's intention at one point as well) but if you never knew of the lower cost in the past and you compare this the vapor quality to some of the other top vapes I think you will agree the price fits.

We have the Milanna in our retail shop in Roswell, GA and some other stores in the ATL area (come see us). So far they haven't sold but we are getting into the busy season so let's see how it goes. I think the different wood choices will help for those interested in an on demand but seek the natural look and feel of wood (talking to you MFLB crowd).

Do you have any Milaana with a lifetime warranty left?

Dammit....VAS is even more powerful than miss Jane herself. I'm in.

Excited to compare the heavy hitting to my hopper..
It's pretty hard not to be more impressed with the Milaana unless you're a tech nerd if you're weighing just performance, imo

I use the GH every afternoon for stealth, flavor, and low temps... but in terms of efficiency, strength, quickness of hits, entertainment (subjective), versatility, I think it all points to Milaana.

You. Will. Be. Impressed. (Imo)

The spalted maple looks amazing ....
I might hold off for more exotics to be released, but I NEVER even close to imagined a Milaana in fuckin spalted maple with a black recessed female end. There's just something about black recessed females ... Yaknow. And that orangish stem in it..amber I believe?.. is just amazing. I don't use rbt stock stems anymore, but I sure as fuck would suck on that bad boy oh my Lordy Lordy.

I saw the price and was like, eh nah. Then I thought ... I've wanted an exotic since my first big vape purchase with my E Nano. Considering how my Milaana goes with me everywhere (GH gets the day time use but Milaana is always right behind her as a backup battery in case anything happens, and I'm significantly more attached to my Milaana emotionally), so I might as well go balls to the wall and deck out my Milaana with some sick grains and wood raising wood.

Which means ... My backup OG Milaana will be sold to a FC member and my current one will go to a friend!

Which means ... The pool is expanding, and more people will be hearing of this vape <3.

How about more show and less tell :brow::whip:

@AJS I think the only color options are Cobalt, Emerald, and Amber. So yeah that must be a dark blue recessed female but I was also mistaking it for black before. Black and white glass would be awesome though!
