That "ride" is well practiced.
Daddy is at the wheel and able to keep things rolling.
Look at his forearm's musculature.
He is not just pushing forward.
He is lifting somewhat and letting his beloved bride "glide", as they have every
shopping trip for possibly 40 years.

(I put my cane in my basket, after shopping at Fry's... and I mount the cart from behind .. and roll to my waiting vehicle often)

He might be minimizing the risk, but it's still a risk and not a small one. Nothing he does can change physics. This clip mostly features people in the cart, which is actually safer(!) because the centre of gravity is at least over the wheels and not behind them.

When I do my weekly shopping, I adopt that exact position as the lady... and I have nobody to balance my cart. I do this weekly (and have since I became disabled, and more youthful in my brain), sometimes with no more than a gallon of milk in the cart to counterbalance. I do not dispute pakalolo's engineering eye, or knowledge of physiscs, but I do think the risk to be manageable... at least it has been for me so far.

Oh My Fucking God. For those people who are so egocentric that they could possibly believe we are the only intelligent live in the universe, that is NOT a very good example of your concept. Look at the number of stars in this tiny piece of the sky. While I have no doubt that humans are unique, I am not NEARLY egocentric enough to think we are alone...

No, that's caused by runoff from a glacier. There are only a few lakes like this in the world. They turn up in colour photography texts as examples of cyan, which is a rare colour in nature.
