Most pets hate pet cones (also known as Elizabethan collars), but they're an important part of the healing process for pets recovering from certain injuries or illnesses. But as long as their pets are forced to wear them, these pets' creative owners decided to bedazzle these unwieldy collars with silly and glamorous designs.

I always wanted to do this with my dog's cones. My dog just got his last cone off, he had two cones over the past two months.

My dog doesn't have a problem with cones, he's just a giant goofy dog that doesn't understand how to maneuver through life with a cone on his head. That's understandable, no one wants a cone on their head.

Today, his cones are sitting on the deck looking like mangled sheets of plastic that got ran over by a fleet of semi trucks, and then sent through a series of lawn mowers.

Am I glad I didn't decorate his cones, only to realize they would get ruined? Yes.

Am I jealous of these animals, and their owners, who get to have fancy cones? Absolutely, extremely jealous.

I had Saint Bernards for over 20 years, and worked in Saint Bernard rescue for a good many of them. Four or more giant dogs, plus our cats, plus any foster dogs or cats used to be normal around here. Now we are down to just one last Saint, as they are just too big for me to physically manage outside the home and yard anymore.

I never thought I could love a small dog, as I was so used to dogs being at least my size if not larger, but we got us a pair of genuine 100% pure bred Alabama mutts from the pound before we left Birmingham that quickly proved me wrong. Beatrix is the overgrown rat terrier looking thing and Violet is the Lab/Hound/Boxer/Pit/????? mix. I jsut adore them. Beatrix is the typical nervous but loveable terrier who doesn't like to get her dainty feeyt wet, and Violet is the scrappy junk yard dog who will roll in the mud just because it feels so darn good.

They are the same size, but so very different. But not so different that they both like to watch the squirrels raid the bird feeders.
