on that subject, I think it was this documentary wich had a nice quote:

the quote is about some trees planted on an island, and how everytime he has guests/tourists as visitors, the first thing they think/say when they see those trees is about how you can make nice furniture from those trees. while the guy who planted them apreciates them for what they are now, beautifull trees, instead of what he could make from them.
