For years stock price and buybacks have apparently trumped safety.
This has the look and feel of (free market?) capitalism hard at work, skirting regulation.
But I agree, the "Market Regulating Itself" is a somewhat misplaced reference.

Sure dude. The company whose airplanes are falling apart because executives will cut every corner possible to make their stock go up a quarter point is the perfect PR tool for free market libertarians.
