'Gif', with a hard G, is perfectly correct, and it doesn't matter what people said in 1987

I just was reading a series of articles that confirm the correctness of the hard G pronounciation in the term GIF
It appears Hard G wins, although those that like saying "Jif" can find exception and rationalization for their misconception.
It could be pronounced Jif if the word Graphic were pronounced "jraffic"
