- you have to get a good seal between ember and the pipe. once that is done i pre-heat it a little bit then stir

Good to hear you are getting the hang of it. Having spent a lot of time messing around with the Ember, I find the speed of the draw to be a much bigger factor than the power setting. I will say that early on in the bowl, the first 3-5 draws, the hits are much more aromatic and less cloud/vape. But in the middle and late part of the bowl I get big clouds with slow draws. The key is slowing the draw down.
And hoyo77, you are exactly right, the seal between the chimney and the pipe is KEY!

Yep... we're just starting out and have been sorting out manufacturing and banking. We ran into visa payment challenges a couple of weeks ago when our visa processor found out that our device can be used with cannabis. Shocking!!

We're close to solving all of that and have a new version coming out soon that uses an all quartz chimney--including a perforated glass baffle that performs better than the stainless steel screen.

The first prototypes should also arrive with the chimneys and we'll post an update. We haven't seen anyone use this approach yet--most opting for a SS mesh pad (e.g. Mighty/Crafty and Firefly). We considered using ceramic, but didn't find a method that gave the kind of porosity needed to balance airflow with increased surface area. Suggestions welcome!

The new quartz chimneys are fantastic! Not only do they remove the stainless steel from the vapor pathway (replacing it with a perforated quartz baffle/screen), they also improve the performance in multiple ways. The quartz baffle ensures more even airflow, disburses the heat to minimize hot spots, and enables greater control to dial in the desired temp with your breath. The baffle is also frosted, which enhances the glow substantially--especially in low light.

The quartz adds a much larger radiant heat component which allows for easier temperature control and very even heating across the bowl. Not to mention that the glow is mesmerizing! The quartz screen has holes positioned and sized to create more even airflow through your herb, further minimizing the development of hot spots.

The downside is that the quartz requires at least 15-20 seconds of preheating when starting with a cold unit and fresh bowl. During a sesh, though it maintains its heat better and allows for really dense pulls.

You can find it at https://nfeteam.org. We do not recommend that you exceed 30 watts, or likelihood of combusting your herb becomes much greater. If you are not getting enough vapor at 26-28w, then there may be leakage between the chimney and the bowl, or try a finer grind on your herb... Or, you're just a major Hoover, and may need to slow down and take some yoga breaths.

So i got my quartz ember yesterday. I unboxed it today. Had a small issue where the mod was saying no atomizer present. compared the 2 embers and noticed that on the original ember the inside screw is raised a bit more...will post pics later...so high right now. so i screwed the quartz ember down a bit tighter and that solved the issued.

now for my first session
loaded it with and started the preheating. did around 3 pulls at 27...
then started hiting and pulsing the button. draw for about 7 seconds and pulse. got very nice flavor hits doing this. cranked up to 28 and starting hitting againm got nice flavor and some whispy vapor. slowed my draw down and started getting some nice rips. cranked it to 30...slowed my draw down a bit more and i got some hits that had me coughing...was scared to take it to 32

i like the quartz better. my ABV was even. i think if i work more on my draw i can get some nice lung busters with this vape.

my only complaint is they forgot to add a stir tool to my shipment. i misplaced mine so i got to order another.

tried your preheating technique. i will say this version gives me very nicely even baked material and know dark spots. i also like that i can use stems that i have purchased from other members like alan at toasty top and ed from tnt. their stems work very well with the ember.

Slow wispy hits like the mflb and its fantastic. Great for the older crowd too. Gives ya that nastalgic smoke. Not bad. Good job. Won't be disappointed if you grab.

I'll be honest I can't get good hits unless I go all the way up to 30 but the affects are there. Like the mflb. Don't see much but you get stoned.

I love my upgraded quarts chimney and if anyone has a elev8tor by 7th floor labs the ceramic dab pad fits in the new pipe. Can’t wait for the quartz insert.

Great idea! We just ordered a few to try out. Thanks for the suggestion! The stainless steel concentrate pad from the Crafty/Mighty also fits nicely into the pipe--with or without the screen. It works extremely well as a low-temp dab pad for extracts with the quartz Ember.

As for a sintered quartz pipe insert, we tested out a few different versions with different sized quartz frit. Unfortunately, the insert took forever to heat up; at which time, the pipe was quite toasty. The airflow was also subpar. I'm looking forward to trying out the ceramic pad from 7th Floor!
