I was looking for a tiny & stealthy pen to vape my selfmade rosin on the go. Being on a budget and unsure if I will enjoy doing concentrates at all I was looking for a cheap but satisfying first step into this cat of vaping and finally decided on the dr dabber light.
The pen looks sleek and discrete while easly hideable in my palm, like it. After reading the manual and watching the vids on the website I had a good feeling to be prepared to start. formed my rosin to a blob which matches the length and diameter of the coil and pushed button for a second to melt it lightly into the coil.
At this point I felt a little lost about how to proceed, I couldn't find any information in the instruction or the webpage about how to hit this thing. As a pen beginner I had just vague memories about 3 seconds on/off pulses or 5 seconds holds while slowly drawing. I decided to try both methods, beginning with a 3 second heatup while slowly drawing resulted in a really tasty hit, awesome. Second hit was 5 seconds and it felt harsh in the throat with a slightly burnt taste. I was unsure about how to proceed but decided to go on with 5 second draws till the vapor stops. while doing so I noticed the harshness and burnt taste continues so i decided to take a look at the coil. it was looking black all over. Did I just shred my first atomizer? Decided to go on until vapor stops, since I've read in this thread that the device is unlikely to overheat when pressing under 10 secs in a row. Puffed on an the last hits where really harsh and bad tasting.
Browsing through the web looking at pictures of damaged atomizers I was in panic. Took a fine brush, soaked the hairs in ISO and began to gently clean the coil. Burned off the remaining ISO in the wick for 5 secs and let the atomizer rest overnight. Next morning burned off again for 5 seconds and loaded it again, this time slightly larger than the coil, maybe more rice like, lenght of the whole wick. This time decided to fire it at max 3 seconds the whole time and to my surprise nothing seems to be damaged, got nice and tasty hits again. Now I'm at the 10th 3sec hit and the load is starting to taste burned again and is getting harsh in the throat.
Here is what it looks like right now:
So I am unsure how to proceed...
Is this look of the wick normal and should I just load it again when I feel the burned taste?
Or should I give it a bath in ISO before I continue to load it? I hope I haven't damaged it yet.
Is it because my rosin is too dirty because of plant waxes and other stuff which isn't in BHO or QWET extracts?
Or do I simply load not enough? Is it a mistake if I puff it until it tastes bad, should I refill like 5 hits earlier?
Forgive the wall of text, I tend to exxagerate while writing...
Greetings,

hey guys
I took a rice grain size of shatter, but it fell below the coil!
I don't want to risk touching the coil.
but it sucks because I have to press the button for a long time several times before it produces any visible vapor.
what to do?
I ordered the Dr Dabber light should be coming in the mail today anxious to check it out!
Please let us know what you think of the Dr. Dabber Light...
I'm in the need of a wax pen for on the go and I'm between the Light (which i can get for $40 delivered) or the Ghost/Puffco Pro/similar (for about $70 delivered). Is the difference worth it? I will only be using it for about 8 weeks this summer when I'm in CO and concentrates are plentiful. Also, it wont be my daily driver - i have an SSV with the oil kit. It will only be used in public- out with the family, at shows, driving, etc. Additionally, I'm the only consumer.. Any thoughts/opinions/guidance from the wax pen vape veterans would be appreciated.
Seems like that could be a connection issue between the battery and the atomizer. We have a no questions asked warranty. Just email info@drdabber.com and we will be happy to help!Well this being my first concentrate vape pen I am no where near a veteran but my first initial impressions "were" good, I held the button down watched the slow heating coil it doesn't get bright red super fast concentrates melt slow and get soaked into the wick as described it is a good PERSONAL vape meaning the ceramic bowl on this atomizer is small you will be (re)loading it a lot with your product.
The feel is nice soft touch matte(ish) black coating on the outside, but then again have nothing else to compare to I have used a blu cig before (the nicotine ecig) so I would say it honestly looks close to one of those so very stealth look wise the end light even shines a bright blue, I actually like the flat tip of the mouth piece makes it seem a little more elegant.
Now I ended up having a problem as I tried cleaning one of the atomizers with the alcohol method and now I think it messed it up because the light just flashes on the battery when I try to activate the coil, so one coil down and the other one it looked like the ceramic bowl and coil were sitting at the very end of the stainless steel tubing and not depressed in a bit so QC on the atomizers might not be that great here.
I will get a better description/pictures up when I get the time but honestly I am beginning to wonder if I ended up paying $40-50 for something that SourceVapes sells for $10 (10cig), I have no other vape pens at the moment for concentrate but me only having one atomizer now for this and them being so expensive compared to the others to replace I might try another option so I can compare 2 together.
***As of this edit BOTH of my coils are now non-functioning, I just loaded a little ball onto the second one it came with since my first stopped working and now this one is just triggering the battery to flash so I received my pen yesterday on Saturday and now both atomizers have failed in 24 hour time span... (didn't even try a cleaning cycle on the second one either)
& since I have loaded and used both atomizers I can't return so now I am just sitting here with a battery I can't use about $50.00 down the drain for me.

done, thanks!@Djwins Contact Dr. Dabber at info@drdabber.com and tell them. They will replace the battery.
I think there may have been a 'bad batch' of batteries. A replacement battery I received recently went bad quickly. They responded to my email right away and have sent the replacement.
Once the ISO has evaporated, there should be no problem. It will not 'embed' in your product. But to avoid having to do this, I would suggest loading your atty with less product. I never clean mine. By not overloading, you don't get that black buildup. Just vape what's in there till it's gone and reload. I put in an amount that is about equal to a grain of rice. Putting more in overloads the atty and the product starts to burn, creating that black, tar like goop that never really goes away.need some help with cleaning
i used 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol
put a few drops left it for 30 min, washed it off but still gunk in tehre
i put more today.
I connected it and heard it crackle and saw vape smoke being generated
I let it burn a few times but still worried the residues have isopropyl embedded in em making it dangerous to use.
please advise.
