I have been using the 62s and I love them. Has anyone tested the new 54s and compared results to the 62s? I think it's awesome that boveda finally caved in to the community and made a lower rh product. Thanks!

I had some herb stored with the 62's for a few months. It was pretty fresh when I got it. I recently switched over to the 54's when I heard about them. The bud is noticeably drier after a few weeks on the 54's. I haven't had enough testing to know yet but I'm assuming the drier bud might do better in certain vapes.
I just purchased another CVault with the discount code posted above. Thanks @Kief ! When I get it I'm going to do some experimenting. Going to put the same bud in two different vaults and two different Boveda packs. Then I'm going to run each one through my collecting of vapes taking notes on things like taste, cloud production, session length, ect. Going to see if there are any differences between the packs and if one works better than the other to maximize the performance of my devices. This should be fun! I will report back!

A good soap and water wash should be fine, make sure you dry them well before installing the Boveda pack. I wouldn't bother with ISO unless you see some manufacturing residue that won't come off or if you contaminate them with mold or fungi later in life.

I'll stick to the 62's because we're 65% water by body weight..serioiusly though, I have to believe a higher rh probably translates into more vapor...even if that just means more H2O vapor...it's still good.
What really brings me to the Cvault discussion is the observation that my less skunky Cvault stored herb came back to life and stunk up the inside of my vehicle when transferred into some cheap dollar store storage containers.

Interesting. I'm trying my own cvault experiment. I have some Jackie o and Louis 14th herb that us still a bit too moist to Vape effectively. I put most of it in two c vaults with 62%packs. The rest is in glass Mason jars vacuumed seal with no pack. I'll compare and contrast in a month. I'll be going in and out of my c vaults. What variables Should I consider? Smell.. Vape taste.. Vape ability to extract.. And how well it grinds as well as dryness.

- It would have been really interesting to test the before rH (relative humidity) and then the ending rH. At least now to test the ending rH in each container.
- Bud consistency of each as I consider a "sponge consistency' the ultimate for storage and curing. It will compress like a sponge (never crumble) and when you cut with a small scissors, it can fly (very resilient consistency)
- Smell as it should retain it's awesome smell. How do they compare.
- Taste. What are the vaping taste differences between the two?

Hey all, I'm considering these, but I'm sort of unsure about the "boveda" packs, I doubt I would remember to keep them fresh, and I've seen some reports of mold with them. But anyway....would these containers be better than mason jars if I don't use the boveda packs or would that just sort of defeat the purpose of having them since they are so clearly designed to work with them.
I think the simple question I'm asking is if these are worthwhile storage containers on their own, without the moisture control.

The advantage over a jar would be that they are metal which is harder to break than glass so it travels better. Also, the seal is heavier than a Mason jar. The new 54% Boveda packs look very promising.

The CVault is just an air and light tight container, the Boveda packs make the magic happen. Mason jars stored in the dark will work just as well for storage. I do like my CVault and would buy more if I could, but I can store my meds in mason jars for 10% of the cost... or less depending on the size.
Mold has never been a problem for me after using Humidipaks for storage and curing in the last few years. I've even had one strain stored for over 2 years now and it's doing just fine. In order to get mold in a Boveda controlled container, you have to put it in there first. They do inhibit mold growth, but there's a limit to what they can handle. As long as the mold has not gotten a good start or it's just a few spores, the Boveda packs have a good chance of keeping it at bay.
Anyone interested in storing their meds longer than a few weeks should give the Boveda packs a try.

It's a semi-luxury. But compared to what $ some people drop on their produce, it's not that unreasonable.

I have two different strains in CVaults with Boveda 62. Everyone talks about wanting their vape material to be bone dry for best results. Are you all taking your material out of the CVaults and letting it cure further before usage? If so, how? When I leave material just laying out to dry, you can smell it when you walk in the door. Plus, I live on the water, so leaving things out to dry just doesn't work. I appreciate your sage advice.
