Adbobe commented that he got 3 bowls out of one charge but has lost track of the batteries, so hes switching them out i think after 2 bowls each battery.

That's if he survives. If we don't hear back from him by say mid day, I suggest we have a team ready to recover the 8 before guys with badges and stuff start messing around?

Thank you guys for your concern, I'm still alive. More testing tonight, having some issues with my other tools.
G, I think it was closer to 3 bowls(possibly more) on the batteries. They don't get used up nearly as quickly as the Thermovape. And I keep it on the lowest setting 300 degrees F. You could go lower and stilll make some people happy. The battery efficientcy is one of the things I'm impressed with.

I think we're all justified in that given the past history of G and THC. As the saying goes, 'you're only as good as your last game' (the idea shows up with lots of different ends like 'haircuts'...). And given his game has been great so far, what else should we expect?
I'm fighting my expectations on this guy, I want as objective a test as I can get. The goal here is results for the intended user, not meeting my personal wishes or expectations. I don't have to worry about G, he's gonna do it right or not at all I figure. Not always the case, of course, but here that's our history.
Standing by for that prototype.......

Not on the prototype I saw. Or at least not that I could see, and I actually looked for that as I like the HA set up. This is a different system, though, not a driven convection system. It's more a conduction deal. Most of the upper part would have to be rebuilt I think, it just wasn't part of the design goals. Most portables don't blow bags.....

i swear he said it was convection on Skype, thats why i liked it so much, he said the hot air comes out of a spout that is like 1/8th inch off the bottom, or was i imagining this. i think i saw that in a post. and were their threads for the filter top? i was thinking there might be a way to screw the fan on top and i was thinking it would work with the passthrough didn't see it having enough power with just batteries.

The unit I saw has a ceramic base plate that's heated from below (like in Revolution and Dart, only bigger in diameter). The same unit as in the Universe in fact. The vent, I think, performs the same function as the gap in the floor on Dart or the gap around the window on Revolution, it lets in air so the vapor can be swept out, like the input on MFLB does. A very small quantity of air (same as the vapor volume), not lots of hot air to heat the load like HA. Here's another clue, I got to talking while it was idling (like you'd do with HA), it didn't work, load heating was still going on, I was directed to stop talking and start hitting again. Convection vapes like Volcano and HA aren't hampered like that. Stop the air flow and you stop the heat transfer.
I could be dead wrong, I'm only guessing too.

Basically any vaporizer in existance which you can attach tubing to can support bag filling. I suggest to search for negative pressure concepts like the Gravity/WaterFall Bong, or in my case a water-less system working just like some vacuum machine:

As a bonus similar systems will bypass the tubing associated to a pump and the plastic feel with it (this was my goal when conducting such an experiment actually)...

It seems like vape manufacturers always claim their machines are using solely convection even when it's clear they aren't -- I'm pretty sure the Atmos guys were saying that even though their device heats herb directly with hot coils. I'm worried the 8 may not be much better. Convection really is the way to go for evenly vaped and un-singed herb, esp. at the price point of the 8. I noticed a lot of uneven ABV in G's videos of the device -- suggests (along with OF's observations above) that we're mostly getting conduction heating here.

The one they did the videos with didn't have the stiring mechanism. that was G's reason for not being evenly vaped. and people were saying that it might beat the solo but if its conduction then I'm disappointed especially for the price were looking at

I'd suggest withholding judgment until it's fully designed and tested...I know that won't happen, of course, but felt it should at least be suggested. For myself, I hope to give it the most objective test I can of it's performance when my turn comes (a few weeks at most???).
In the end, if it does the job well....it does the job well as I see it. That's what most folks buy this stuff for, to use?

I thought G's reasons for the singed and uneven ABV were that the machine was just somehow tuned too hot and needed to have the temperature reduced. But I didn't see all the vids. Stirring would certainly help, though I've never liked the idea of a built-in stir tool (like a kickstand on a bike, I don't need it). Hopefully I'm wrong and the 8 is a convection powerhouse!
