Would a basic episode be out of order (for us non rig owning guys)?
not at all. the liger review will basically be exactly this, so i'll just cover your questions here so you don't have to wait
Tell us equipment and instead of music describe what is happening on that close up and cap swirl routine.
my current setup consists of an
auberin RDK-200 coil heater and a
CCA 710 Liger v3 prototype e-nail/e-banger with
Storm Cell cap connected to a
Bates x Worm diffusion pump. my dabber is just a cheap turkey lacer, i'll be getting something nicer here soon, probably a sherbet glass pencil. the storm cell cap has adjustable air vents that are pointed at an angle. i keep it set on the maximum amount of restriction for this rig, so only one hole is letting air in. therefore the cap needs rotating to scoot the puddle around in the insert. if i had it set on any of the other three settings, i wouldn't really need to spin the cap because the air jets are then evenly distributed, firing at the whole surface area.
It looks like it boils and rises on side and then vapor?
vapor starts shooting off of the oil the second it hits the insert, you just can't see it because the macro lens can't focus on it. it is sucked immediately into an intake that you also can't see, but the shape and function of the device is identical to a regular quartz banger, it's just super efficient, adjustable, and an e-nail to boot.
You clean residue with Qtip perhaps talk about residue, when to break off the hit. ( I read others get bho yucks in last part?)
this depends on how poor i am. if i'm doing OK money-wise i will low temp all my dabs and stop hitting the rig when the vapor starts thinning out. when the vapor is thinning out, you are vaporizing plant waxes and undesirable plant residue which gives off an unpleasant vaped taste i liken to a bowl of flower in a vaporizer that's been cooked a bit much. so, it's good to stop before that point if preserving the flavor of your hit is a primary goal, but if you're trying to get as medicated as possible vaporizing every last bit is definitely more effective. i believe leaving this last bit of wax behind is healthier for you. in either situation i am able to use a q-tip to clean up the residue staying well within the "low temp" threshold overall.
What constitutes clean extracts and examples of bad ones.
this is really something you can only find through experience, or being lucky enough to live in an area where there is a large enough selection to distinguish the good from bad. fortunately dewax tech (the secondary removal of plant fats/waxes in the purging process) has become a lot more standardized over the past 2 years so even cheap extracts and random local oils are coming out pretty clean. i'd say if it's really dark stay away as a general rule, and if it's got any shade of green to it definitely stay away. stay away from random crumble unless it's got a nice bright color and smells amazing. for shatter same color rule applies, if it's so dark you can't shine light through it don't dab that shit and don't let someone tell you "don't worry about the color" if it's super dark it's going to suck. rosin is the only exception to this rule. if you see streaks of light discoloration that kind of resembles meat marbling that is a slab that hasn't been dewaxed, and those are streaks of plant fats. don't dab that. don't dab anything that has a weird off-putting chemical taste compared to what you know and trust. if it's seemingly too cheap to be legit, it's probably not legit, don't dab it. if you're here in California try to pick up from the companies i review. there's a few i haven't gotten to yet worth checking out for sure (southern humboldt, natures lab, crown genetics, crown extracts, beezle, hgh, bamf to name a few) but they all have different pricing scales and even their more economy offerings are very high quality.
..a clean extract should taste and smell just like the source material it was made from in my opinion, at least when it comes to BHO and solventless extracts. distillate stuff aka "the clear" really has labaratory vibes. those extracts usually have terpenes re-introduced into them and aren't as potent or anywhere near as flavorful, but can be a viable option if the available BHO is particularly shit.
I love your clean set up and marvel at your ability to finish episodes after 2nd taste. As long as there is time to waste I am in your corner.
thanks, glad you're enjoying the show! definitely excited to make more!
