Model specific threads are among the most active here with reply counts regularly in the tens of thousands. It's challenge to keep them on topic and relevant while still allowing an entertaining and comprehensive discussion, but we try to maintain a healthy balance. There are usually complaints that we're screwing up both, which I like to think means we're doing a reasonable job.
There are other dynamics at play in those threads and sometimes folks get upset. Maybe someone had a bad day and misunderstood another member's intent. Emotions can sneak up and get the better of the best of us. These vaporizers can mean a lot to people and it's natural to defend what's important.
X vs Y comparisons are helpful. They're the subject of many an Ask FC thread. In model specific threads it's not so simple and I've outlined some of the reasons above. Those who've been here long enough to remember the log vape wars know how ugly it can get when the Us vs Them mentality takes hold.
The Resources section gives us a place to showcase helpful content, such as X vs Y comparisons, without derailing model specific threads where some people don't want to read discussions about X in a thread about Y. In time we'll probably need some detailed guidelines for the Comparisons section, but its description of "Please be objective and respectful" about sums it up.
@jschubert29 Thanks for posting your juxtaposition in the Comparisons section.
