Tafée Bowle

Hey guys. Bought a TB2 a couple months back, but ended up not using it, after seeing the coating inside the stem and up where the "ball" clicks wears off. I can see silver dust going in the puck when inserting and removing the stem and also down the puck where it touches the stem ( down of the o ring). I'm not comfortable at all using the tb2 for this reason. Read a lot of the discussions but I dint found an answer.
Does the machined stems does not have that coating? At least inside and outside of the stems base where the puck goes. I dont want to sell tye vape it has a great heater but that choice to put that coating is very weird to me.Anyone who have the machined stem enlighten me please.

Thanks. But I didn't catch if the machined one was not coated and chipping ?

I'm not sure, but I think the unit itself still has the coating? I can't remember exactly the setup with the machine stem, but I recall being disappointed, there were more details about it here back when it came out though

Am I reading this right, so some version of the stem is chipping paint, and folks just went "eh, not really in the airpath and I clean it so we're good"?... If that is the case that takes my VAS itch go away... A $400 device that has this type of flaw seems unacceptable... I really hope I'm reading this wrong because I might be the 1% of people that saw the cup and LOVED the concept haha

I have an email from Tafee 2 weeks ago where they said the only real difference between the standard and machined stem is the machine stem is uncoated. This was appreciated because they were actually trying to keep me from spending on something that they didn't think I needed.

And so the version without the coating costs a lot more... 🤣

That's one of the points where it's completely unclear... :mental::shrug:

@DataRocks

I feel a little less crazy, thank you! After all these years...!

I loved using the cup... and the whole thing is so convenient to use... plus the vaporization quality...

But it was just unacceptable to me... otherwise I'd probably use it every day...

Yeah I don't really understand the point of it either other than if someone wanted to anodize it themselves or something.

Here's what they said:

"The machined stem is functionally identical to the standard stem, offering no performance advantage. The difference lies only in its durability: the machined variant is the machined base stem with no exterior finish applied. It retains the full precision and robustness of the core component."

@fangorn it honestly bothers me how loosey goosey we all treat the material safety. I'm not combusting for a reason... Every time I've found something questionable about a product, I've found the community (not this forum specifically) very quick to jump, defend, and ignore....

I think at the time, I sent a photo of my machined stem starting to crumble... but I wouldn't swear to it...
I gradually resigned myself to it...

In short, I found the whole thing very opaque... with approximate answers.
And it's mostly ignored here...
But apparently, some people didn't have this problem.

I'm going to move away from this discussion again to avoid clouding the debate.
I just wanted to remind you that this defect was raised in 2021... (or even earlier).

My best advice would be to find "Highs-N-Berg" on Reddit and ask them to make an adapter...
No allumide paint crumbs (I think that's the original coating material) in the flowers 😁

I hope to see glass or SS stems one day... I'll get back on the boat immediately!

I would be curious, is that what I didn't like even more about it, the top part of the stem is the same with the coating? Was not such a fan of the silicone mouthpiece either, I know some people even liked to use it without any mouthpiece, lips directly on the coated stem... Yeah the ones that degraded the worst were from more extensive cleaning, and in those wearing spots of the joints connecting the bowl, so debatable how much of an issue it is for someone subjectively, but perfectly reasonable to not be satisfied with that in such a high end device... I do like the HnB mod that I saw, never knew about it from watching here so I'm glad someone mentioned it, would make me more interested, but still not all together for the price honestly as is. I think it's great how V2 really stepped up the battery life issue, and a little temp adjustment as well, but I think it is okay to want and expect more

2nd day with my new Tafee Bowle 2 and I am absolutely blown away. I'm a big Venty fan (own 2 of them) and while it isn't a Venty replacement, it's more fun to use.

There is a slight learning curve when using a pure convection vape. I was initially vaping the TB2 too softly. The Venty excels with a soft and long inhale while, in my opinion, the TB2 excels when you take a continuous hard draw. Mind you, you don't have too because there's not much resistance, but I found I was stirring more with a soft draw as opposed to a strong one.

Either way, I now know why everyone has been raving about this thing. I don't see myself using the cup a lot, but I'll use it some.

This thing rocks.

Only a few sessions in but I'm very happy with my Bowle 2 so far! Very smooth vapor, really good flavor, maintenance is a breeze, and the pot system feels surprisingly ritualistic to use.

Kind of wish there would be other mouthpiece options to swap around with though - either official or 3rd party. Ideally made out of something firmer than silicone.

And I think a general drawback with pure convection devices is the longer and less adjustable draw. It's a reasonable trade-off, but it makes the device a little less do-it-all for me.

By the way, from an email conversation with Tafée:

"We expect to deliver a much delayed glass drinkware very soon."

This would be a heavier, less portable cup, but definitely an upgrade IMO. It's something that I can potentially see myself using if it works as intended. Looking forward to hearing more about it!

Yeah I mentioned a lot of people like to do that, I just wonder about it a bit, given the coating?? Makes me a little more afraid to try again now, but honestly I was not a fan of that either, didn't feel more comfortable than the silicone to me (never tried low pro mp)

Yes the coating on Series 1 was a definite issue. I have not seen any of that wear or flaking or anything on Series 2.
I don't mind the feel of the silicone (nor the metal); I do without the silicone because of the more open.draw.

I also use my series 1 without any silicon mouthpiece. But i realized, that i have to draw really slow on it to get big clouds on heatlevel 3. With the silicon mouthpiece the draw is automaticaly slow enough....

I wOuld like to get a new battery for my series 1. Whats the best way to exchange it? And which battery to choose?
Or do they offer a service for battery exchange?
The battery still holds for some bowles. Maybe 2-3.

Thanks

I suggest emailing support and ask if you can send it in for evaluation. I think they may balk at giving you a hard number for an estimate.
It costs me about $30 to send a puck NY to the facility in Toronto. You'll have to pay the shipping, but Tafee might sell you a discounted shipping label if you ask nicely. ;)
All I will add is that they have never disappointed me, even when I once sent a unit purchased 2nd hand.

My Tafee Bowle 2 is really just the most refined dosimeter I've had the good fortune to own.
Around the house now, the Bowle 2 is king. The speed at which you can load a bowl and be vaping is hard to compete with. Cart-like speed with awesome dry herb taste.

I've been enjoying some Blue Dream with the Bowle and the terps are so satisfying.

I shipped mine back after using it for a couple weeks. it should be in their hands tomorrow and hopefully a replacement on its way in quick succession 🤞. The battery never did improve beyond 8 or so pots (still not terrible...) so I think something may have been up with it beyond my initial cosmetic complaints.

I did enjoy it a lot while I had it though

Seems there's a chance that and my Tempest 2 show up around the same date so I am going to have some fun soon!

Tafee received my original unit that was scratched and scraped out of the retail box and emailed me this morning saying my return box (they said I couldn't use the original Tafee box for return) incurred a fee because it was larger than the suggested 6x6x6 size and they want me to pay for part of it or pay for the shipping of the replacement device.

I'm pretty fucking mad about this. I used the smallest box I had on hand and I shouldn't be having to incur any charges for their quality control fail. Now this will delay them shipping the replacement so having owned the device for a month or so, it will have not been in my possession for over half of it now.

I thought they were supposed to have good customer service? The emails are written nicely, but beyond swaying me from spending extra to buy the machined stem they have done nothing to indicate they provide top tier customer service.

I had a similar situation with my Puffco Pivot having the corrosion and the VP of Puffco emailed me a personal apology and send a replacement and said that's not the experience they want for a premium product (which is a fraction of the price of this) and to keep the one with the cosmetic issues. Taffee on the other hand has put all the work on me and now is asking me to pay for some of the shipping costs to correct their issue when they never properly communicated any context or requirements for box size so there's an expectation.

I just don't see why I have to be out of pocket even a penny for not getting a new, mint condition device like I ordered from them (and directly from their website) originally...

Ok, rant over. Tafee is tasting sour at the moment though

Edit: They responded and said they'd absorb the shipping cost but then wanted to replace the housing only instead of sending a new retail unit like they previously said they'd do. Considering I had concerns the battery was not optimal on the unit and it appeared to be used, I replied with a comprehensive piece of my mind. I asked them to follow through on what they said and make it right... Will let y'all know what they say....
