That hard hitting signature is not in excess of the size of rip that one can achieve with a SiC enail man, also the amount of draw restriction (not to mention how disgusting reclaim in a Sub atomizer can get and how that influences the taste of subsequent dabs) that the Sub causes to get those clouds is unjustifiable IME. I would never want to be dabbing off a Sub, I'd sooner use some flower vapes with concentrate pads! IMO, the Sub has a niche for people who want the biggest flower rips possible and don't care about anything else. For dabbers, look elsewhere IMO.
In order to compare titanium and stainless steel, you need to be able to determine the specific gravity of the metal piece in question. Google that one if you like. A jeweler may have the requisite hardware to verify that an item is titanium or not.
Just to add, a magnet can "help" determine if the ss is cheap and iron heavy. My Ti sub has no magnetic attraction and neither does the atomizer or even the stand. My moon tool has a slight magnetic attraction.
So in short its all good ti and ss with the moon tool being cheaper metal. The only thing I could think of to determine whether the atty is ti or ss is to torch the atomizer and see if it gives the tell tale ti colour change?
I've always presumed all the attys are ss but I have read ppl claiming that they are ti like the heater - if ti was chosen. Mine has never changed colour like ti but it has some discoloration that sure looks like ss.
The new heads & atomisers all have SS & Ti stamped onto them so there's no issue with recognising those.
I'm not sure but I don't think they've made a Ti atomiser until recently, I still have to buy one to check it out but I imagine the top half of the Ti atomiser would colour up whereas stainless just turns a slightly yellow colour.
I have both stainless & Ti heating elements but I don't notice a lot of difference.
I'm not a big dabber but I agree with the @herbivore21 comment that sublimate can be pretty gross, it's like extremely strong reclaim & I do have to clean the atomiser once a week or the taste suffers & the draw can become restricted.
However this happens with all my other vapes as reclaim will build up, it is yucky & does need to be cleaned or it will affect performance & taste.
The Sub is my daily driver & performs fantastically with whatever I put in it.
I have no need for more vaporisers which is a great feeling but it's always nice to browse the sales because different vape signatures are fun.
I love the fact that I don't have to suck down a heap of hot air just to get the vapour flowing, we shouldn't really have to do that now.
The Sub milks up any tube instantly with incredibly thick vapour & that's why I use it.
I also like the fact that there are other Sub styled vapes available now as I think it's a great concept, but until I find something that performs better than it I'll probably just keep raving about it.
Oh yeah I also have to thank @Teedub for his suggestion a while back of using denim for unscrewing hot atomisers & heating elements. Awesome suggestion mate this has saved me so much time & I have dedicated an old pair of jeans for this, thanks man.
Yeah i do agree the dishes can put out the same size clouds. But i have to say something about the sublimator is just very very smooth in my opinion.
Ill say its hard to go back after getting accustomed to the sapphire's taste. But anyways, i also agree about the atomizer getting gross. But every vape or device has some type of maintenance.
Ive found cleaning the atomizer completley every few days, along with torching that bottom atomizer screen everyday keeps things up and going great.
My atomizer isn't too old, but it does not have any Ti or SS logo.
i assume that maybe the labeled atomizers are available/sold with the new xlr mini kits?
I had assumed maybe the handle with logo is titanium and then the atomizer with the holes in the handle is stainless steel. This is just my assumption from looking at the items for sale from Planet Vape
Im pretty positive mine is stainless steel, but i was just really being curious to be honest.
Anyways. I know its just been discussed the Sublimator is not the best for concentrates, but has anybody tried it with some concentrate pads?
I attempted 2 small and 1 medium sized dab on heat level #8. And i got super smooth convection clouds from my concentrates. The clouds were not as big as if applied to the heating element head, but it worked.
I'm really prefering convection style concentrates. The EVO VapeXnails produce nice convection vapor in my opinion, but are just too messy and require an inhale technique that I'm not fond of. So now I'm trying to figure out/see if the sublimator can replicate that experience while also making things much easier as well
I was wanting to crank the temp up to see if i could get bigger clouds or faster extraction. But was curious to the ignition point of the stainless steel concentrate pad. My google search showed 2,750 degrees F, but I'm not sure if this is correct and wanted to confirm here before attempting to crank up to temp #10 or #11
(Attempted with no atomizer or olite screens for full airflow)
Then about your comment on the denim working to unscrew hot atomizers. What temp do you have your sublimator set at when you do this?
