Pen Storm Vaporizer

max

Out to lunch
I went and tried to add this combo with the fc discount but it comes out to around $97 US dollars for me with free shipping.
I just added the vape and the charger again, and got the same total- 51.93 GBP, which is $80.54 (at the moment) delivered with this converter- http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=51.93&From=GBP&To=USD.

Did you select the i2 charger? I ask because there are 4 Nitecore chargers on the Storm accessory page. Did you go far enough in the checkout process to get your US address in and therefore get rid of the VAT for UK buyers? My subtotal was 71.66 GBP minus the discount of 19.73 for a grand total of 51.93. It should work out that way for you, although the exchange rate may vary slightly.
Does the latest Storm have the latest xmax updates of the new button click system?
As far as I know it's still 5 for off/on, and 3 for changing temps. I'm comfy with Vapefiend's warranty and service so I have no interest in fewer clicks with the X-Max.

Just thought I would post this...

http://www.vapefiend.co.uk/storm-bubbler-mouthpiece.html

Looks like the arizer air bubbler stem but made to fit the storm , not something for me (just because of the way I use my storm, normally out and about or on site so don't want any glass to worry about) but I'm sure others will find it useful.

Just ordered one, well excited :)

Let us know how you get on, oh and with the storm you can change the battery as much as you want and it won't brake anything :D and IME vapefiend have been open and honest with me from day one so IMO a company you can trust.

And on a separate note I have not finished testing all my cells yet, but so far everything is giving the same results, I have tried to keep things comparable by just doing empty runs with no MP at green temp, waiting 5 mins after each auto off to cool, and each cell has gave 13 five minute sessions before unable to heat to temp, so IME so far there is no need to search for a better performing cell as the OEM does just as good as any other regardless of mAh.

Thanks for the link fish! I hadn't seen that piece yet. I have the budget bubbler that I use with my storm but this looks very interesting. I need to get a couple of batteries and 1 of those chargers anyways so may as well give it a whirl haha

I have the budget bubbler also and the air bubbler stem, I would say the budget bubbler works better (just down to size) but there are still advantages with the air bubbler stem, now I'm assuming the storm bubbler MP and air bubbler stem work and peform the same here  but the storm bubbler MP should fit in the storm case so more portable and the air stem only holds a tiny amount of water and is very hard to spill any, it will also add length to the vapour path and even the small amount of water should help with particles that can irritate some people, and be a little more secure fit as its one piece, again this is all guess work on my part.

I might try to fit my air stem to one of my storm MP to give it a try later.

Maybe @VapeFiend.com will post a nice pic here as the one on the website is a little hard to see detail in

Glad that you guys spotted the Bubbler Mouthpiece!

I can also finally give the answer to those of you who weren't so happy with the heat at the upper part of the unit when the Storm is used on high settings. We have just taken delivery of our new neoprene sleeve, it keeps the unit cooler to the touch when in use on high settings, and also keeps the mouthpiece nice and secure when it's in your pocket or bag. It's not available on our site yet as we still have to take some pictures of it, should be up soon though.

@UnshavenFish you're right the pic of the bubbler mouthpiece is ropey. It is actually a better quality item than the Air Bubbler Mouthpiece- made by a different manufacturer, and works a bit better. I will try and get a better pic tomorrow.

My Samsung battery that came with the Storm started to behave weird. When I 5 click, the Storm turns on but when I 3 click to start the heater I just get the blinking red light and it goes dead again. Tried it at least 30 times, always the same. Works fine with the blue "Great Power" I got as second battery with it so it's neither me clicking to slow/fast nor the button itself. Anybody else having similar experiences?

I have the same combo of cells (the old great power and new Samsung) first off is the Samsung fully charged? As when empty it will give red blinking light then turn off.

Do you have a DMM to check the voltage of the cell?

I did have a similar problem with a box mod once and just putting a different cell in turning on then removing and putting the first cell back in got it going again, I realise a box mod is a little different to the storm but it was almost the same thing happening in that I could turn on (with 5 clicks) but the coil would not fire.

Samsung is fully charged, shows a white light when I put it into the Storm, same when I put the device back on USB for charge. Changed batteries several times, no change. Actually switched to the "Great Power", ran it dry and then put the Samsung back in. Same thing.

Not sure what a DMM is but I'd guess you mean a multimeter, sadly no.

Yeah sorry a DMM is a digital multimeter, it sounds like it could be a bad cell (couldn't say for sure without it in my hands but it happens sometimes even with good quality cells) if your in the UK give vapefiend a ring (I have always found them very helpful over the phone) it may be something they have come across.

https://www.vapefiend.co.uk/index.php?_a=contact

If outside the UK you can still call but I'm not sure of the cost, or leave a message for free.

Hopefully it's something simple and you get sorted out

Most cells/batteries do have a warranty but its normally just for 30 days for various reasons.

Keep us posted.

I have a similar problem with the Storm I bought 3 weeks ago. The 5 first clicks turns the unit on fine. The next 3 clicks gives a short blink in the the last temperature color, then a series of red blinks and the unit turns off. Happens with both the original and the spare battery I bought. But the bug ONLY occurs when the battery is fully charged. As soon as I succeed in turning the heater on, the Storm works by the book for the rest of that charge.

With various success I tried to turn the Storm on, and let it sit a couple of minutes hoping to drain the battery a little before I turned the heater on. Apparently the power use in that state is extremely low, and at one point it took me 20 minutes of sloooow tries to turn the unit on. A little frustrating so instead I tried lo let the batteries rest 1 or 2 days to let them loose a little power, and I have had success with that strategy.

I contacted Vapefiend earlier this week about the issue, and they asked me to return my Storm for further investigation and/or replacement. Unfortunately it would cost me 25% of the Storms price to return it with signed delivery (from Denmark), which I found a little too expensive as long as the Storm still was operational. Instead I suggested Vapefiend to send me a new battery, so I could give the batteries time to “rest” between charges. They accepted and encouraged me to send it the unit, if I the problem evolved or other issues would show. Very nice service. :)
I also might add that every time I have been in contact with the company, they have responded rapidly and orders have been processed within hours.

Funny thing is that the new battery they sent me worked perfectly fine when fully charged. But I have only charged it once so too early to conclude anything. I have a cheap multimeter I plan to play a little with the coming days. :)

Hi @FlyingDane, thanks for the update on your situation. Please do keep us informed about the new battery, it seems like it may have solved the problem but perhaps it is too early to tell.

Very interesting, after I made that post yesterday and recharged my "Great Power" battery it started to behave very similar to what you describe as well. I gave it a few tries and after 6 or 7 times turning it on and off it worked again. The Samsung battery on the other hand hasn't been charged since monday and is still going to the "last temp" followed by "turning off" blinking, just tried at least 10 times again. I'll try to keep it on standby for an hour and check again.

@VapeFiend.com I don't really think the problem is solved yet, as my "Good Power" battery started to act up as well. It was just easier to get operational again (for now). Anyhow, I fail to see how letting batterys rest after a charge is a solution for the issue.

EDIT: Still the same after 30 minutes of stand by with the Samsung.
EDIT2: No change after 1 hour of standby with the Samsung.
EDIT3: Tried to vape a load with the "Great Power" battery and the green light stayed solid for a whole 5 minute cycle, started another one and it started to blink right away. (battery status was still indicating a white led when I started the device).

For the record, we have never suggested that letting batteries rest is any kind of acceptable solution. We would always seek to fix the faulty part, whether it's the battery or the unit itself.

We have encountered a very low number of faulty units and batteries, but they do pop up here and there. The important thing is that with our warranty and service there is no need to "make do" with a faulty Storm. For as long as the unit is under warranty we will always fix it, or if it can't be fixed, replace it.

 And this is one of the many reasons I keep coming back for more.

Anyway I recieved my bubbler MP and sleeve yesterday and I'm very happy, the bubbler is much better quality than the air bubbler stem and I would even say that to me it seems to work just as good as the budget bubbler which has size on it side, I should add I'm not the best person to talk about heat/harshness as I seem immune but I have friends that do cough and find some of my vapes harsh but they were able to take hits on white temp fine with help from the bubbler, also it's pretty sturdy attached so I had no worries passing it around, it comes in a nice box (similar to the other storm accessories) with good protection and even comes with a tiny funnel  for filling (not really needed but a nice touch) IMO it's nice and easy to clean and empty (almost empty anyways, maybe a few drops left) I wouldn't say it's spill proof but it's pretty close taking quite hard shaking to get anything out, I keep mine in the storm case with storm and had no spill so far.

The sleeve fits like a glove with holes for temp lights, power button and charge port so fully useable and while I don't find the unit gets too hot to hold I do see myself using it, I think it will be handy when out and about for a little extra protection while adding better grip, it doesn't seem to add any extra heat (like my silicone sleeve for arizer air does) but I don't have anyway to check other than by hand. Now it is just a sleeve so I can't really say anymore than...it fits, it's nice and it will keep the MP on while keeping the storm comfortable to hold for those that find it too hot

Got one today with the bubbler- mouthpiece. Superfast delivery from Vapefiend and great service!

Initial impressions:

  • Size is luckily smaller thank it seems on pictures and videos.
  • Really sturdy feeling build.
  • Mouthpieces attach firmly despite the looks so you can move the vaporizer around without worrying that the bubbler falls off.
  • Button has a good response and feel, but the amount of clicks and them registering with the device could be improved.
  • Heat-up time is pretty good, not the fastest but good and the vaporizer remembers the previous heat- setting.
